level generated during laboratory tests. The true SAR level during phone usage
will be far lower than this level.
The SAR value of the phone may change depending on factors such as how close
you are to a network tower, use of accessories and other enhancements. The
highest SAR value of the device is 0.67W/kg
(head) and 0.95 W/kg (body) averaged over 10 gm of human tissue.
The SAR value may differ depending on national reporting, testing requirements
and the network band.

HEARING AID COMPATIBILITY HAC FOR WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS DEVICES
THIS PHONE HAS A HAC RATING OF M4/T3
WHAT IS HEARING AID COMPATIBILITY?
The Federal Communications Commission has implemented rules and a rating
system designed to enable people who wear hearing aids to more effectively use
these wireless telecommunications devices. The standard for compatibility of
digital wireless phones with hearing aids is set forth in American National
Standard Institute (ANSI) standard C63.19. There are two sets of ANSI
standards with ratings from one to four (four being the best rating): an “M”
rating for reduced interference making it easier to hear conversations on the
phone when using the hearing aid microphone, and a “T” rating that enables the
phone to be used with hearing aids operating in the tele-coil mode thus
reducing unwanted background noise.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHICH WIRELESS PHONES ARE HEARING AID COMPATIBLE?
The Hearing Aid Compatibility rating is displayed on the wireless phone box.
A phone is considered Hearing Aid Compatible for acoustic coupling (microphone
mode) if it has an “ M3” or “M4” rating. A digital wireless phone is
considered Hearing Aid Compatible for inductive coupling (tele-coil mode) if
it has a “T3” or “T4” rating.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY HEARING AID WILL WORK WITH A PARTICULAR DIGITAL
WIRELESS PHONE?
You’ll want to try a number of wireless phones so that you can decide which
works the best with your hearing aids. You may also want to talk with your
hearing aid professional about the extent to which your hearing aids are
immune to interference, if they have wireless phone shielding, and whether
your hearing aid has a HAC rating.
FCC Hearing-Aid Compatibility (HAC)
Regulations forWireless Devices
On July 10, 2003, the U.S. Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) Report and Order inWT Docket 01- 309 modified the exception
of wireless phones under the Hearing Aid Compatibility Act of 1988 (HAC Act)
to require digital wireless phones be compatible with hearing-aids.
The intent of the HAC Act is to ensure reasonable access to telecommunications
services for persons with hearing disabilities. While some wireless phones are
used near some hearing devices (hearing aids and cochlear implants), users may
detect a buzzing, humming, or whining noise. Some hearing devices are more
immune than others to this interference noise, and phones also vary in the
amount of interference they generate. The wireless telephone industry has
developed a rating system for wireless phones, to assist hearing device users
find phones that may be compatible with their hearing devices. Not all phones
have been rated. Phones that are rated have the rating on their box or a label
located on the box. The ratings are not guarantees. Results will vary
depending on the user’s hearing device and hearing loss. If your hearing
device happens to be vulnerable to interference, you may not be able to use a
rated phone successfully. Trying out the phone with your hearing device is the
best way to evaluate it for your personal needs.
M-Ratings: Phones rated M4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate
less interference to hearing devices than phones that are not rated. M4 is the
better/higher of the two ratings. This Phones rated T3 meet FCC requirements
and are likely to be more usable with a hearing aid’s telecoil than phones
that are not rated.
r hearing aid compatibility with respect to the Wi-Fi capability. Please power
off the Bluetooth function while devices may also be rated. Your hearing
device manufacturer or hearing health professional may help you find this
rating. Higher ratings mean that the hearing device is relatively immune to
interference noise.
The hearing aid and wireless phone rating values are then added together. A
sum of 5 is considered acceptable for normal use. A sum of 6 is considered for
better use. A sum of 8 is considered for best use. In the above example, if a
hearing aid meets the M2 level rating and the wireless phone meets the M3
level rating, the sum of the two values equal M5. This should provide the
hearing aid user with “normal usage” while using their hearing aid with the
particular wireless phone. “Normal usage” in this context is defined as a
signal quality that is acceptable for normal operation. This methodology
applies equally for T ratings. The M mark is intended to be synonymous with
the U mark. The T mark is intended to be synonymous with the UT mark. The M
and T marks are recommended by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industries
Solutions (ATIS). The U and UT marks are referenced in Section 20.19 of the
FCC Rules. The HAC rating and measurement procedure are described in the
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) C63.19 standard. For information

interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that
interference will not occur in a particular installation.
If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television
reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the
user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the
following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
SAR Information Statement
Your wireless phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed and
manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radiofrequency
(RF) energy set by the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S.
Government. These limits are part of comprehensive guidelines and establish
permitted levels of RF energy for the general population. The guidelines are
based on standards that were developed by independent scientific organizations
through periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific studies. The standards
include a substantial safety margin designed to assure the safety of all
persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure standard for wireless
mobile phones employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption
Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6 W/kg. Tests for SAR are
conducted with the phone transmitting at its highest certified power level in
all tested frequency bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highest
certified power level, the actual SAR level of the phone while operating can
be well below the maximum value. This is because the phone is designed to
operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the power required to reach
the network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station
antenna, the lower the power output. Before a phone model is available for
sale to the public, it must be tested and certified to the FCC that it does
not exceed the limit established by the government adopted requirement for
safe exposure. The tests are performed in positions and locations (e.g., at
the ear and worn on the body) as required by the FCC for each model. The
highest SAR value for this model phone when tested for use at the ear is 0.
556W/Kg and when worn on the body, as described in this user guide, is
0.507W/Kg(Body-worn measurements differ among phone models, depending upon
available accessories and FCC requirements). The maximum scaled SAR in hotspot
mode is 0 .659W/Kg. While there may be differences between the SAR levels of
various phones and at various positions, they all meet the government
requirement for safe exposure. The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization
for this model phone with all reported SAR levels evaluated as in compliance
with the FCC RF exposure guidelines. SAR information on this model phone is on
file with the FCC and can be found under the Display Grant section of
http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid after searching on FCC ID: 2BAK2-F101
Additional information on Specific Absorption Rates
(SAR) can be found on the Cellular Telecommunications Industry As-ciation
(CTIA) web-site at http://www.wow-com.com. In the United States and
Canada, the SAR limit for mobile phones used by the public is 1.6 watts/kg
(W/kg) averaged over one gram of tissue. The standard incorporates a
substantial margin of safety to give additional protection for the public and
to account for any variations in measurements
Body-worn Operation
This device was tested for typical body-worn operations. To comply with RF
exposure requirements, a minimum separation distance of 10mm must be
maintained between the user’s body and the handset, including the antenna.
Third-party belt-clips, holsters, and similar accessories used by this device
should not contain any metallic components. Body-worn accessories that do not
meet these requirements may not comply with RF exposure requirements and
should be avoided. Use only the supplied or an approved antenna.
