RAIN HARVESTING TASS24 300mm Solar Shield
Product Information: Solar Shields
Solar Shields are designed to fit under the tank screen and prevent algae growth by blocking sunlight. The product has a patented design with fins that evenly distribute and calm the water flow, minimizing sediment resuspension and ensuring that the water stays clean. The Solar Shields come in three sizes: TASS24 (300mm or 12 inches), TASS25 (400mm or 16 inches), and TASS26 (500mm or 20 inches). The product is available in Australia and the USA and complies with AS/NZS 4020:2005 testing of products for use in contact with drinking water.
Product Usage Instructions
- Step 1: If there is a tank screen already installed, remove it before installing the Solar Shield.
- Step 2: Place the Solar Shield in the tank inlet hole, ensuring that the arms rest on the top surface of the tank and the product is suspended in the inlet. Rotate the Solar Shield to align the screw points with the existing screw holes in the tank, if there are any.
- Step 3: Place the tank screen over the Solar Shield, making sure to align the screw points with the Solar Shield arm lugs.
- Step 4: Drop the tank screen into place so that the outer rim is flush with the surface of the tank.
- Step 5: Secure the tank screen and Solar Shield using screws suitable for the tank material. The Solar Shield will accept screws up to 8 gauge in size.
It is recommended to inspect and maintain the tank screen periodically.
Alternatively, consider installing a Maelstrom Filter instead of using a Solar
Shield and Tank Screen.
