Asus RT-AC5300 Router The Asus RT-AC5300 Router is a high-performance router designed for use with fiber internet connections. It features a tri- band setup, with three separate wireless bands to ensure optimal performance and coverage for all your devices.
The router is equipped with advanced features such as MU-MIMO technology, which allows multiple devices to connect and use the internet simultaneously without experiencing any drop in speed or performance.
The Asus RT-AC5300 Router comes with a user-friendly web interface that allows you to easily configure and customize various settings according to your preferences. This includes setting up a guest network, parental controls, and network security features to ensure your network is safe and secure.
Product Usage Instructions
Asus RT-AC5300 Fibre Configuration If you are using your own router with your fiber internet connection, follow these steps to configure your Asus RT- AC5300 Router:
- Connect your device to the router using an Ethernet cable.
- Open a web browser on your device.
- Type “ http://192.168.1.1” in the address bar at the top and press Enter.
- Enter the Default Username “admin” and Default Password “admin” when prompted.
- If the password is incorrect, you will need to Factory Reset the router by pushing the reset button on the back for 10 seconds.
- Once logged in, you can configure various settings according to your preferences, including setting up a guest network, parental controls, and network security features.
- The router will reboot once you have made changes to the settings.
- Once the router has rebooted, you should now be connected to your fiber internet connection.
Using your own router

Log into the gateway:
- Connect your device to the router (preferably hardwired)
- Open a web browser
- Type the following in the address bar at the top: http://192.168.1.1
- Default Username: admin
- Default Password: admin
- This should then give access to the router’s user interface
- (If the password is incorrect you will need to Factory Reset the router by pushing the Inset Reset button on the back for 10 seconds)
How to add correct settings for the Mercury network:
- From the Advanced menu select: WAN. This will open a page of settings. Ensure the settings match what’s below.
- WAN connection type: PPPoE
- Enable WAN: Yes
- Enable NAT: Yes
- Enabled UPnP: Yes
- Get the WAN IP Automatically: Yes
- Connect to DNS Server automatically: Yes
- PPP Username: (your mercury acct number) @mercurybroadband.co.nz
- PPP Password : pass123
- Disconnect after time of inactivity : 0
- MTU: 1492
- MTU: 1492
- Service name : Leave blank
- Additional pppd options: leave blank
- Enabled PPP Echo detection : Yes
- Select ISP: Manual
- Internet: VID – 10, PRIO – 0
- The rest can remain unchanged
- Click Apply
- The Router should now reboot, and you should now be connected to Fibre!
