Product Usage Instructions

  • The Pre-Assembled Horizontal Murphy Bed is heavy; do not move without two or more people.
  • Wood pieces should be painted or stained within 10 days of receipt with commercial-grade furniture paints and stains.

Mattress Selection

Choose a mattress no more than 9 inches thick. It should be rigid enough to stand on end without sagging. Avoid storing pillows inside the bed cabinet.

  1. Install pulls on the bed following pre-drilled locations.
  2. Secure the bed against the wall using wall mounting brackets on studs.
  3. Ensure the bed frame and cabinet are square and fully closed together.
  4. Place slat ends on bed slats and install all slats without stepping directly on face panels.
  5. Install mattress straps near the front and back frame pieces.
  6. Place a mattress or board on the slats, then place the top cap on the bed cabinet.
  7. Secure the top cap with wood screws.
  8. Install mechanism covers without interfering with the gas strut movement.
  9. Congratulations! Your Pre-Assembled Horizontal Murphy Bed is successfully installed.

WARNING
The Murphy Bed/Wall System contains stored energy. Failure to use and follow these instructions during the installation process could result in severe personal injury to user or damage to the product.

UNPACKING

  • The Pre-Assembled Horizontal Murphy Bed is extremely heavy.
  • Do not move without two or more people.

FINISHING

  • Wood pieces should be painted or stained within 10 days of receipt, before installation.
  • Commercial-grade furniture paints and stains are required. DO NOT use water-based paints.
  • Choose an appropriately sized mattress for your frame no more than 9″ thick.
  • The mattress should be rigid enough to stand on end without sagging or doubling over.
  • We recommend using a coil mattress but some memory foam mattresses will work.
  • Bed linens may be stored on the mattress. DO NOT store pillows on the bed inside of the bed cabinet. Damage may occur if doing so.

Tools Needed

  • Open & Box End Wrench Set
  • Power Drill
  • 2 Phillips Bits

  • 8mm Deep, 1/2″ Deep, and 7/16” Socket Bit
  • 2 Philips Screwdriver

  • 1/16″ Drill Bit
  • Stud Finder
  • 5mm & 6mm Allen Wrench (Included)
  • Claw Hammer
  • Tape Measure

Pre-Assembled Horizontal Murphy Bed

Installation Instructions

  1. With the bed closed install the pulls at the pre-drilled locations by having someone insert and tighten the screws through the back of the bed. The number of pulls and positions will vary depending on cabinet style.
  2. Place the bed against the wall where you want it. Locate at least two (2) studs and secure the provided wall mounting brackets to each stud using the provided lag screws.
  3. Make sure the bed frame and cabinet are square and fully closing together. Secure brackets to the top of the bed cabinet with the small black screws from the hardware pack.
  4. Place the slat ends on the bed slats. Firmly press them into the punched holes in the bed frame. Make sure to install all the bed slats. DO NOT step directly on the face panels.
  5. Locate and remove the small bolts near each end of the front and back frame pieces and install the mattress straps using the same bolts.
  6. Place a mattress, board, or something to distribute weight across the slats and place the top cap on top of the bed cabinet. Make sure it fits all the way around.
  7. Use two (2) of the gold 1-3/4″ wood screws through the pre-drilled holes in the top panel to secure the top cap.
  8. Install the mechanism covers using the provided screws. Make sure the back edge of the cover is vertical and does not interfere with the movement of the gas strut. Use the provided caps to cover the screw holes.
