Intended use

This product is intended to charge and discharge NiMH and Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries of AA (R6) and AAA (R03) sizes.

It is equipped with four independent charging slots. It uses highly optimized charging process with -∆V full charge termination method for maximum battery performance.
Refresh mode can restore battery’s full capacity and minimize memory and “lazy battery” effects. NC 1000M is able to charge batteries of different types, sizes and capacities at the same time. Charge and discharge currents are fully adjustable for each cell. At the end of charge process batteries are switched to trickle charge mode to maintain their full charge state.
Using the “everActive” rechargeable batteries is recommended.

This product is in conformity with all provisions of Directive EMC 2014/30/EU and it complies with relevant European Standards.

Package contents

Each box contains:

  • everActive NC-1000M charger,
  • user’s manual,
  • USB-C charging cable.

Safety Instructions

  1. Read the instructions before using this charger.
  2. This charger is intended for use with Ni-MH and Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries only. Attempting to charge other types of batteries may cause personal injury, damage to the charger or lead to a fire.
  3. The mains socket outlet must be close to the equipment and easily accessible.
  4. The charger is intended for indoor use only. Exposure to any liquids or moisture can cause damage to the charger and batteries. Do not allow foreign objects to enter the charger. This could result in electrical shock or fire.
  5. Disconnect the charger and its power adapter from the power socket when not in use.
  6. Never use an extension cord or any attachment not recommended by the manufacturer.
  7. Do not operate the charger if it has been subjected to shock or damage. Take it to a qualified serviceman for repair.
  8. Do not attempt to disassemble the charger or its power adapters as it may result in a risk of electric shock or fire.
  9. Unplug the charger from the power supply before attempting any cleaning. Use only a soft damp cloth. Do not use water, detergents or alcohol.
  10. Intended for use with original accessories only.
  11. Do not use batteries with their + (positive) and – (negative) ends (terminals) reversed.
  12. Batteries can become hot during the charging process.

Power supply

Power adapter is not supplied within a standard set.
This charger should be used with certified USB 5V DC, min. 2.0A power adapters only. We recommend using everActive SC series of adapters (like SC-200). When the charger is powered on, LCD display turns ON with all the symbols visible. Affter 2s the charger will perform a selftest and if there are no batteries inserted the “null” label should appear.

Basic operation

Once rechargeable battery is inserted, its voltage level and default operating mode will be shown on the LCDdisplay. If not interrupted by “Mode” and “Current” buttons within 8 seconds the charger will automatically start the default charge process with 0.50A current. During the first 8 seconds operation mode can be changed for all newly installed batteries simultaneously by pressing the “Mode” button. Similarly pressing the “Current” button will change the electric current for all of the newlyinserted batteries. These changes can be also made individually for each charging slot by selecting “Slot” before pressing “Mode” or “Current” buttons.

Defective or overdischarged batteries (“0” voltage) batteries will show an “ERR” label on the LCD and due to safety reasons no further operation will be possible. If the inserted cell’s voltage is above 0.20V, the charger will detect the battery and allow further operation.

Mode selection.

Short pressing “Mode” button within first 8 seconds activates operation mode change for all newly installed batteries. By pressing the “Slot” button the user can select individual battery to adjust the operation mode.

After the operation has started the operation mode can still be altered for individual batteries using the “Slot” button and afterwards by holding “Mode” button for about 3s. Available operation modes: “Charge”, “Discharge”, “Test”, “Cycle”.

For 8 seconds after selecting the desired operation mode the user can adjust charging/discharging current by pressing the “Current” button.

Charging current selection.

For the first 8 seconds after the batteries are inserted the user can adjust the charging current for all of the batteries by pressing the “Current” button. By pressing the “Slot”button the user can select individual battery to adjust the current. Possible values are: 0.25A, 0.50A, 0.75A and 1.00A. Charging will start automatically after 8 seconds from the moment last button was pressed.

If further changes are needed, user can select desired charging slot (“Slot” button) and change mode/current anytime by holding “Mode” followed by “Current” button.
Please note that the recommended charging current should be set to a minimum of 1/4 value in relation to inserted battery’s rated capacity. For example for the 2000mAh R6/AA batteries the recommended charging current is 500mA (0.50A) or higher. For the 800mAh R03/AAA batteries the recommended charging current is 200mA (0.20A) or higher. The default charging current of 500 mA will be suitable for most of the R6 AA/R03 AAA batteries.

Full charge termination method -∆V is much less reliable with lower than recommended charging currents.

Operation modes

Charge mode – inserted batteries will be charged automatically with the (pre)selected charging current.

Each battery slot is individually controlled. The default charging current is 0.50A. In charge mode available values are: 0.25A/0.50A/0.75A and 1A for each battery slot. After the charging is complete the LCD will show the charge capacity (this is not the same as cell’s rated capacity), operation time, voltage, and END indication.

Discharge mode – can be used to reduce and minimize memory effect and lazy battery effect. Such cell will be discharged to level of 0.9V. Please note that the cell stays discharged after completing this process. Further action will be needed to charge the cell.

Can be also used to discharge (test) primary (i.e. alkaline) batteries. Please note that you should not try to recharge primary, non-rechargeable batteries.

Each battery slot is individually controlled. The default discharging current is 0.25A. In discharge mode available values are: 0.25A/0.50A for each battery slot. After thedischarging is complete the LCD will show the discharge capacity (for a brand new, fully charged cell, this should be close to the manufacturer’s rated capacity), operation time, voltage, and END indication.

This advanced function can be also used i.e. to test the self discharge rate of the cells.

Cycle mode – a special combination of several charge and discharge cycles. The charger tries to maximize the capacity of older cells, which were not used for an extended period of time. Can be used to initialize/form new batteries and check their real capacity or to reduce the memory / lazy battery effect. Please take note that this process can take even few days to complete. At theend of the process maximum cell capacity (from the discharge stage) can be read from LCD display.
Please note that the discharge current is set automatically depending on selected charge current: 0.25A discharge current is applied when 0.25A or 0.50A charge current is selected, 0.50A discharge current is applied when 0.75A or 1A charge current is selected.

Test mode – can be used to test rated capacity of inserted batteries. This is a single charge->discharge->charge cycle.
At the end of the process measured cell capacity (from the discharge stage) can be read from LCD display. This should be close to the battery’s rated capacity declared by the manufacturer.

Please take note that new rechargeables may need few charge/discharge cycles to reach their maximum capacity. Batteries with much lower results than declared should not be used. For the best results and performance it is recommended to use the “everActive” rechargeables.

Please note that the discharge current is set automatically depending on selected charge current – 0.25A discharge current is applied when 0.25A or 0.50A charge current is selected or 0.50A discharge current is applied when 0.75A or 1A charge current is selected.

Product disposal

The crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol on your product, battery, literature or packaging, reminds you that all electrical and electronic products, batteries and accumulators must be taken to separate collection at the end of their working life.
