1-year warranty for Q1® Anti-Static Gun from the purchasing date. To validate the warranty of your Q1 Anti-Static Gun, please visit our website www.q1tapes.com, and click Validate your warranty on the Q1® Anti-Static Gun product page. The warranty will not be valid unless it is properly registered.

Cases in which the Guarantee applies:

Gun stops working due to a problem of the base circuit.
The gun doesn’t charge due to a battery problem.
The laser pointer stops working.

Cases in which the Guarantee does NOT apply:

The gun its broken due to fall damage.
The gun has been opened by the client.
The gun has evidence of being dirty due to being inside the cabin.
Improper use of the gun.
Being charged with a charger that is not the correct special one meant for the gun, which comes in the box. We recommend discharging and charging the gun’s battery every 3 months. We recommend charging the gun with the special charger that comes in a box with the gun. Q1® Anti-Static Gun works with any pressure but the recommended pressure is 2 bars.

We recommend using the gun at a distance of 20/25 cm from the vehicle.

Introduction

Static electricity is an invisible energy that causes problems in body shops and paint spray booths, where there are buildups of electrostatic charges in the surfaces.
Generally, it is caused when materials come into contact or when they are cleaned before the painting process. Consequently, the objects get attracted or repel to one another. This can cause discharges or it can even create a spark that can lead to another object.

Static is a major cause of paint film contamination and non-consistent laydown of metallic. A high number of everyday tasks in a body shop can cause electrostatic buildups, such as sanding, blowing, masking, or cleaning. The final preparation process is one of the higher static electricity generators. All these processes involve some kind of contact with the surface, whether it is physical or air contact. Even the process of painting with a spray gun can build up statics in the surface to be treated.

All the processes in the paint spray booth can cause static electricity, and since this electricity easily moves through all the surfaces to be treated, it is ne-cessary to ionize all the working areas, even the edges, before every application. Since static electricity is an invisible energy, it can also appear when applying treated air on the surface.
What the treated air is actually doing is coating the panel with an invisible layer of positive and negative ions which rapidly neutralizes static charges.

Description and content

Description
Q1® Anti-Static Gun is an advanced cordless system that generates positive and negative ions and the ne-cessary energy to neutralize static electricity present in all charged surfaces to leave them free of dirt particles, ready to be painted.

The system is composed of an ion generator and a valve that leads the compressed air toward the target to be neutralized, the air and ions combination cause the expulsion of the particles preventing them to be adhered to any surface due to a loss of charge. The electrodes are aligned with the laser so that it will always mark the area where the static neutralization is applied to.

It is also provided with a 4-level charging battery indicator placed in the upper part to be easily visible to the user and it is activated during charging or during the operation of the gun. The tool charges through an AC-DC system provided and which is connected to the socket on the back of the gun.

For best battery performance, it is recommended to completely exhaust the battery charge before recharging.

Airlines
Aluminum and stainless steel air lines are the most efficient ones. We do recommend filtering the air with 2-body models, water + oil filtering, or 3-body models, water + oil + active carbon. This type of air filter is the most efficient to use either with the Q1® Anti-Static Gun or for painting tasks.

Equipment operation and maintenance

Installation and operating instructions
The Q1® Anti-Static Gun does not require any installa-tion previous to its use. However, it is recommended to observe the following instructions about its starting and operation:

Connect the Q1® Anti-Static Gun to the charger.
The lit green LED indicates that the gun is ready to use.
Once the gun is charged, unplug the gun from the charger and connect it to the airline.
Pull the trigger. The laser indicates the area that is being decontaminated and ionizing.
Application is the same as painting, without changing the distance, speed, or pressure.
This operation is made before applying the paint and the clear coat or final coating.
Any cloth will be used by no means during the application of the Q1® Anti-Static Gun.

LED Indicators and charging of the gun
The Q1® Anti-Static Gun is provided with a 4-level charging battery indicator placed in the upper part that will be visible during charging and also while using the gun when pulling the trigger.

The gun needs a 3-hour charge for a full charge. This provides an estimated autonomy of 4 hours of continuous work. There is no battery charge loss while the tool is in standby mode or while it is not being used, even after a few days.

Wiring

The equipment comes with an AC-DC CE-homologated adaptor provided with a 1m wire with the appropriate section to charge the gun and a complementary Jack power plug to the gun socket. Do not manipulate the charger, in case of suffering any damage, please contact with the manufacturer.

Cleaning of the equipment
Clean the outer part of the Q1® Anti-Static Gun with a damp cloth (do not use, by any means, a wet cloth), and we do recommend using a microfiber cloth whenever possible.

Do not use any solvents to clean the tool.

ADVERTENCE:
Do not manipulate or touch the electrodes in the front part (air and laser outlets).

Safety

The equipment is properly protected for the uses described in this user manual.
Do not charge this system with another charger different from the one provided by the manufacturer.
Do not short-circuit the electrodes for an extended period of time. Otherwise, the equipment can suffer internal damages which can be irreparable.
Avoid contact with the electrodes.
Do not immerse any part of the Q1® Anti-Static Gun in any conductive fluid.
Ensure adequate ventilation for the work area. Do not use it simultaneously during the painting process.
Observe the safety regulations: the user is responsible for the utilization of the tool and for compliance with the safety requirements, not only for individuals but also the ones in the workplace. Use hearing and eye protection.
During the use of the gun, avoid placing the nozzle close or directing it to the eyes or ears.
This product may interfere with the operation of pacemakers due to high voltage discharges and other sources of electric or magnetic fields. Affected users should be informed about the possible risks before using or being near this tool.
Always use the charger in a safe area and regularly control the electric wire to avoid any possible accidents caused by damage.
This machine can only be repaired and handled by the technical department of the official supplier.
This machine uses compressed air, so dry, clean, and filtered air should be used. Use only for the appropriate purposes. It can only be used with no air in a short distance or in small areas.
When plugging and unplugging the tool, act in accordance with the usual safety regulations.
