INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION: Before installing, make certain A.C. power is off and the Threaded Body Test Switch (TBTS) is disconnected.
STEP 1 – MOUNTING THE ILBHI CP HE SD HV
The ILBHI CP HE SD HV should be mounted on or nearby the fixture above the
ceiling. The flex conduit marked “A” should be wired into the driver/lamp
compartment or to an electrical junction box on the fixture which allows
access to the fixture connections.
STEP 2 – WIRING TO THE LED LOAD AND NORMAL DRIVER
Refer to the appropriate wiring diagram below. Make sure all connections are
in accordance with NEC and any other local requirements. The ILBHI CP HE SD HV
is designed to interface with high voltage (non-class 2) LED Loads. See
Illustration 1 for output voltage ratings per ILBHI model.
STEP 3 – INSTALLING THE THREADED BODY TEST SWITCH (TBTS)
A. Cut a single gang switch box into the ceiling tile adjacent to the fixture
within reach of the ILBHI CP HE SD HV flex conduit marked “B”. After mounting
the switch box, connect flex to the box and route all leads inside the box.
B. Attach the switch box plate into the switch box. Insert the TBTS into the switch box plate hole so that it is facing outside the switch box. Secure the TBTS against the plate by screwing on the TBTS nut.
C. Connect and fully engage the TBTS Connector to the TBTS Socket. Ensure the
TBTS Connector is properly seated in the TBTS Socket, then mark the TBTS
location on the switch box plate with the TBTS Label and apply the SD Status
Indicator Sticker.
Remote Mounting – The TBTS may be remote mounted from the fixture up to
25 feet. Before extending the TBTS wires, ensure that AC Power is off and the
TBTS has been disconnected. To extend the TBTS wires, splice the TBTS leads
between the test switch and connector and install a patch cable (minimum 18
AWG) of the desired length to the spliced ends. Be sure to observe wire color.
After extending the TBTS wires, follow the installation procedure (steps A, B,
and C) above to reconnect the TBTS.
STEP 4 – WIRING THE AC INPUT
The ILBHI CP HE SD HV requires an unswitched AC input of 347-480 volts.
Connect the BLACK wire to the 347-480 Line, and the WHITE wire to the Neutral.
CAUTION: The case must be grounded.
STEP 5 – APPLY AC POWER
A. Apply continuous AC power to the unit, and allow the unit to charge for
at least 1 hour before performing a functional test.
B. Verify that the TBTS light is on. The lamp will illuminate Red while the
battery is charging and Green when the battery is fully charged.
C. Press and hold the TBTS button for two seconds. The pilot light will blink.
Within five seconds, the LED Module should be operating at a reduced light
output. The test mode runs for 30 seconds. To exit the test mode earlier,
press and hold the TBTS button for two seconds. If the LED Module in the
fixture returns to normal operation, the unit is ready for normal and
emergency service. If not, see the Troubleshooting section.
This unit features AC Activate technology which detects the presence of AC
power and automatically engages the battery charging circuit. No manual unit
(or “go”) connector needs to be joined. Instead, connecting the TBTS and
applying continuous AC power to the unit will enable battery charging and
emergency operation.
OPERATION
Normal Mode
A.C. power is present. The A.C. Driver operates the LED Module as intended.
The ILBHI CP HE SD HV is in the standby charging mode. The TBTS will be lit
providing a visual indication that the battery is being charged.
Emergency Mode
The A.C. power fails. The ILBHI CP HE SD HV senses the A.C. power failure and
automatically switches to the Emergency Mode. The LED Module is illuminated,
at reduced output, for a minimum of 90 minutes. When the A.C. power is
restored, the ILBHI CP HE SD HV switches the system back to the Normal Mode
and resumes battery charging.
