INPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Read these instructions carefully and retain them for future use. If this appliance is passed to a third party, then these instructions must be included.
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or ina heated oven.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Do not operate the appliance empty.
  • Make sure that the lid, filter basket and pump tube are securely in place during the brewing cycles.
  • Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.

Short cord instructions
  • Ashort power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  • Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  • If along detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,
    • The marked electrical rating of the detachable power supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance,
    • If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type-3-wire-cord.
    • The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

Grounding Instructions

This appliance must be grounded while in use to protect the operator from electrical shock. The appliance is equipped with a 5-conductor cord and a 3-prong grounding-type plug to fit the proper grounding-type receptacle. The appliance has a plug that looks like sketch A in the figure below. An adaptor, sketch B, should be used for connecting sketch-A plugs to two-prong receptacles. The grounding tab which extends from the adaptor must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box as shown in sketch C using a metal screw.

Intended Use

  • This appliance is intended for brewing from 20 to 60 cups (3-9 L) of coffee at a time, as well as heating water for making beverages.
  • This appliance is intended for commercial use only.
  • This appliance is intended to be used in dry indoor areas only.
  • No liability will be accepted for damages resulting from improper use or non-compliance with these instructions.

Before First Use

Risk of suffocation!
• Keep any packaging materials away from children and pets — these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. suffocation.

NOTICE Make sure the lid (A) is fully closed before connecting the plug into socket outlet.

  • Remove all the packing materials.
  • Remove and review all components before use.
  • Check the appliance for transport damages.
  • Clean the appliance before first use.

NOTICE To clean the manufacturing residues, operate the appliance as described in chapter “Heating water” and discard the water afterwards.

  • Before connecting the appliance to the power supply, check that the power supply voltage and current rating corresponds with the power supply details shown on the appliance rating label.

  • The illustrations of model BO8P5HKZ18 (with one spout) are shown in the user manual for reference.

Operation

Coffee measuring guide

NOTICE Always keep water and coffee amounts between the minimum and maximum capacity as listed in the below table.

  • 1 cup of water equals to 150 ml.
Making coffee
  • Always add cold, fresh tap water for brewing coffee.

  • Use coffee marked “for all coffee makers”.
    If grinding coffee beans, grind to medium coarseness. Finely ground coffee can cause the filter basket (B) to overflow.

  • Wet the filter basket (B) before adding coffee grounds to help keep small particles of ground coffee from sifting through.

  • Allow about 1 minute per cup for brewing time.

  1. Remove the lid (A), filter basket (B) and pump tube (C).

  2. Fill the urn (E) with cold water to the desired water level between 20 cups and 60 cups.
    NOTICE Check the water level on the water level indicator (F).

  3. Seat the pump tube (C) onto the heating unit well (G). Fit the filter basket (B) onto the pump tube (C).

  4. Spread the ground coffee evenly in the filter basket (B).
    NOTICE D onot spill the coffee grounds into the pump tube (C).

  5. Put the lid (A) on the urn (E) and turn it clockwise until it hooks into the tabs of the handles (D). 

  6. Plug the appliance into a 120 V AC grounded socket outlet. Set the on/off switch (J) to I position.

  7. The appliance stops percolating automatically when the brewing cycle ends. The ready light (I) glows.
    Risk of burns!
    • Steam escapes as soon as the lid (A) is opened. Do not place your face or hands over the appliance when removing the lid (A).
    • The surface of the urn (E) becomes hot when the appliance is operating. Do not touch the hot surface until the appliance is cooled down.
    NOTICE The appliance remains at serving temperature until the on/off switch (J) is set to O position. If keeping coffee warm for a long period, use a pot holder or oven mitt to remove the filter basket (B) and pump tube (C). This is to prevent bitter oils inside the extracted grounds from dripping into the coffee.

Heating water

The appliance can be used for heating water for instant beverages, such as instant coffee, hot cocoa or tea.

  1. Remove the lid (A), filter basket (B) and pump tube (C).

  2. Fill the urn (E) with cold water to the desired water level between 20 cups and 60 cups.

  3. Put the lid (A) on the urn (E) and turn it clockwise until it hooks into the tabs of the handles (D).

  4. Plug the appliance into a 120 V AC grounded socket outlet.
    Set the on/off switch (J) to I position.

  5. The ready light (Il) glows when the heating cycle ends.

Cleaning and Storage

Risk of electric shock!

  • To prevent electric shock, unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  • During cleaning do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. Never hold the appliance under running water.

Risk of burns!

  • The appliance is hot during and after operation. Allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning and storage.
    NOTICE

  • Do not use baking soda as it may discolor the interior surface of the urn (E).

Cleaning
  • Remove the lid (A), filter basket (B) and pump tube (C) and pour the residues into drain.
  • Wipe the appliance dry after cleaning.
  • Never use corrosive detergents, wire brushes, abrasive scourers, metal or sharp utensils to clean the appliance.
Parts Cleaning instructions
Wipe with a soft, slightly moist cloth.
1. Fill the urn (E) to about 1/3 of its capacity with hot water.

2. Add few drops of dishwashing detergent and wash with a
sponge or cloth.
3. Rinse thoroughly with clear hot water and allow to dry.

2. Push the dispensing lever (H) to let clear hot water run through
the spout(s) (K).
| Clean the lid (A), filter basket (B) and pump tube (C) in hot soapy water.
NOTICE The filter basket (B) and pump tube (C) can be washed in a dishwasher.

NOTICE To remove stains on the interior surface of the urn (E), perform the steps below every two weeks:

  1. Fill the urn (E) with 4 cups each of cold water and distilled white vinegar.
  2. Fit the empty filter basket (B) and pump tube (C) into the urn (E).
  3. Plug the appliance and set the on/off switch (J) to I position. Allow to heat and stand for about 20 minutes.
  4. Unplug the appliance and drain the solution.
  5. Adda small amount of hot soapy water. Scour the interior surface and the heating well unit with a soft cloth.
  6. Drain and rinse with clear hot water.
Storage
  • Store the appliance in a dry area. Keep away from children and pets.
