Important Safeguards

Read these instructions carefully and retain them for future use. If this product is passed to a third party, then these instructions must be included.
The installation must comply with all applicable local or national codes, including the latest edition of the following standards:

• For US: ANSI/NFPA70, National Electrical Code (NEC)
• For Canada: CSA C22.1, Parts I & Il, Canadian Electrical Code
• For Mexico: Mexican Electrical Code [Instalaciones Eléctricas (utilización), NOM-001-SEDE].
• It is recommended that a qualified electrician perform the installation, especially if you are unsure about any part of these instructions.
• This product is rated 15 A 120 V AC and must be connected to a suitable power source.
• Do not install near water or heat sources.
• Contact the municipal building department to learn about applicable local codes, permits and/or inspections.
• Install only in a suitable UL Listed switch box.
• For supply connections, use only 12 to 14 AWG solid wires suitable for at least 167 °F (75 °C).
• For supply connections, use copper wires only.
• Maximum wire length between the product and the appliance should not exceed 98′ (30 m).
• Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the product. For indoor use only.

Intended Use

• This product is intended to be used as a wall switch. It is intended to replace a standard switch receptacle.
• This product is intended for 4-way connection to control lamp fixtures from up to 3 different locations. 4-way switches are to be used in combination with two 3-way switches only.
• This product is intended to be used in dry indoor areas only.

Before First Use

DANGER Risk of suffocation!

• Keep any packaging materials away from children and pets – these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. suffocation.
• Remove all the packing materials.
• Remove and review all components before use.
• Check the product for transport damages.
• Before connecting the product to the power supply, check that the power supply voltage and current rating corresponds with the power supply details shown on the product rating label.

Electrical Wiring

DANGER Risk of fire, electric shock or death! Turn off the power at circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before installation.

WARNING Risk of electric shock! When there are no grounding means in the switch box, consult an electrician. Do not install the product without a proper ground connection.

Tools needed

Remove existing switches)

1. Unscrew and remove the existing wall plate (Fig. 1).
2. Unscrew and remove the existing switch receptacle (Fig. 2).

Wiring methods

• There are 2 methods of wiring the product.

Side wiring
NOTICE For the GROUND screw (green) (A), the side wiring method must be used.

1. Strip wires to 5/8″ (16 mm).
2. Loosen the screw.
3. Twist the wire into a hook shape.
4. Hook the wire onto the screw in the clockwise direction.
5. Tighten the screw. Make sure the connection is secure by gently pulling the wire. Make sure no bare wire is shown below the wire connector.

Back wiring
NOTICE Only use back wiring terminals on 15 A branch circuits with 12 to 14 AWG solid copper conductors.

1. Use the strip gauge (E) to measure the length of bare wire needed and strip it to length.
2. Loosen the screw.
3. Insert the bare wire all the way into the respective back wiring terminal.
4. Tighten the screw. Make sure the connection is secure by gently pulling the wire.
   • NOTICE To remove a wire, loosen the screw first.

4-way connection

• 4-way connection is designed for scenarios where 1 lamp fixture is controlled by 3 switches (Fig. 3).
• For detailed wiring diagram, refer to the wiring instructions sheet provided.

1. Verify that the switch boxes have these wires:
   • Switch box 1 (3-way switch 1):**
     HOT| (usually black)
     ---|---
     GROUND| (usually green, yellow and green or stripped bare copper)
     LOAD** x2| {usually red)
   • Switch box 2 (4-way switch):
   • Switch box 3 (3-way switch 2):**
     I HOT| {usually black)
     ---|---
     GROUND| {usually green, yellow, and green or stripped bare copper)
     LOAD** x2          I {usually red)
   • If any of the wires are missing or have different colors, stop the installation and contact a professional electrician.
2. Disconnect the wires from the existing switch
3. Depending on the wiring method, trim the wires to length.
4. Install two 3-way switches (not provided). Follow the directions on the 3-way switch installation instructions to make sure the connections are correct. If there is any doubt on how to connect the switches, stop the installation and contact a professional electrician.
5. Connect the GROUND wire from the breaker box to the GROUND screw (green) (A).
6. Using a LOAD (red) wire, connect the LOAD terminal of 3-way switch 1 to the HOT 1 screw/back wiring terminal (black) (B).
7. Using a LOAD (red) wire, connect the LOAD terminal of 3-way switch 2 to the LOAD 2 screw/push-in terminal (yellow) (F).
8. Using a LOAD (red) wire, connect the LOAD terminal of 3-way switch 2 to the LOAD 1 screw/push-in terminal (yellow) (C).
9. Using a LOAD (red) wire, connect the LOAD terminal of 3-way switch 1 to the HOT 2 screw/back wiring terminal (black) (D).
10. After the connections are completed, switch on the power at the circuit breaker or fuse. Test if the switches work.

Install Wall Plate

NOTICE
If the product was installed next to other switches, you will need to purchase a wall plate with the correct size/ number of openings to accommodate all the units.

1. Turn off the power at circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off with a voltage detector.
2. Insert the main unit into the switch box being careful not to pinch any wires. Arrange the wires and tuck them in neatly.
3. Attach the main unit to the switch box with the 2 machine screws (G) (Fig. 4).
4. Install the wall plate (not provided) on the main unit (Fig. 5).
   • NOTICE Installation method of the wall plate may differ depending on the type of wall plate be used. Refer to its installation instructions.
5. After the installation, turn on the power at circuit breaker or fuse. Test if the switch works.

Cleaning and Maintenance

• Disconnect power supply before servicing. Cleaning

Cleaning

• Wipe the product dry after cleaning.
• Never use corrosive detergents, wire brushes, abrasive scourers, metal or sharp utensils to clean the product.
