WARNING

  • Risk of electric shock! Do not install the product near wet locations such as kitchens or baths.

The installation must comply with all applicable local or national codes, including the latest edition of the following standards:

  • For US: ANSI/NFPA70, National Electrical Code (NEC)

  • For Canada: CSA C22.I, Parts I & II, Canadian Electrical Code

  • For Mexico: Mexican Electrical Code [Instalaciones

  • Eléctricas (utilizaciån), NOM-OOI -SEDE].

  • It is recommended that a qualified electrician perform the installation, especially if you are unsure about any part of these instructions.

  • This product is rated 120 V AC and must be connected to a suitable power source.

  • Do not install near water or heat sources.

  • Contact the municipal building department to learn about applicable local codes, permits and/or inspections.

  • Install only in a suitable UL-listed switch box.

  • For supply connection, use wires rated for at least 167 OF (75 oc).
    For supply connections, use copper wires of 18 AWG.

  • The maximum wire length between the product and the lamp fixture should not exceed 98′ (30 m).

  • Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the product. For indoor use only. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

Before First Use

DANGER

Electrical Wiring

DANGER

  • Risk of fire, electric shock or death! Switch off the power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before installation.

WARNING

  • Risk of electric shock! When there are no grounding means in the switch box, consult an electrician. Do not install the product without a proper ground connection.

Remove existing switch(es)

  1. Unscrew and remove the existing wall plate (Fig. 1).

Single pole connection

  • Single pole connection is designed for scenarios where 1 lamp fixture is controlled with 1 switch (Fig. 3).
  • The LOAD wire 1 (C) is not used for a single pole connection.

For a detailed wiring diagram, refer to the wiring instructions sheet provided.

  1. Verify that the switch box has these wires:

HOT **** (usually black)

GROUND| (usually green, yellow, and green or stripped bare copper}
LOAD| (usually red)

If any of the wires are missing or have a different color, stop the
installation and contact a professional electrician.

  1. Disconnect the wires from the existing switch.
  2. If needed, strip wires to 7/16″ (11 mm).
  3. Connect the GROUND wire (green) (B) to the GROUND wire from the breaker box.
  4. Connect the HOT wire (black) (A) to the 120 V HOT wire from the breaker box.
  5. Connect the LOAD 2 (red) wire (D) to the LOAD wire from the lamp fixture.
    • Notice: Insert wires into the twist-on wire connector (F) then twist clockwise. Make sure the connection is tight by gently pulling all the cables one by one. Make sure no bare wire is shown below the twist-on wire connector (F).
  6. After the connections are completed, switch on the power at the circuit breaker or fuse. Test if the switch works.

3-way connection

A 3-way connection is designed for scenarios where I lamp fixture is controlled by 2 switches (Fig. 5).

For a detailed wiring diagram, refer to the wiring instructions sheet provided.

  1. Verify that the dimmer switch box has these wires:

HOT **** I (usually black)

GROUND ** (usually green, yellow, and green or stripped bare copper)
LOAD** x2             (usually red)

If any of the wires are missing or have different colors, stop the installation and contact a professional electrician.

  1. Disconnect the wires from the existing switch in the dimmer switch box.
  2. If needed, strip wires to 7/16″ (11 mm).
  3. Connect the GROUND wire (green) (B) to the GROUND wire from the breaker box.
  4. Connect the HOT wire (black) (A) to the 120 V HOT wire from the breaker box.
  5. Connect the LOAD I (red) wire (C) and the LOAD 2 (red) wire (D) to the LOAD terminals of the 3-way switch (not provided). Follow the directions on the 3-way switch installation instructions to make sure the connections are correct.
  6. If there is any doubt on how to connect the switches, stop the installation and contact a professional electrician.
    • Notice: Insert wires into the twist-on wire connector (F) then twist clockwise. Make sure the connection is tight by gently pulling all the cables one by one. Make sure no bare wire is shown below the twist-on wire connector (F).
  7. After the connections are completed, switch on the power at the circuit breaker or fuse. Test if the switches work.

Adjust Dimming Range

  1. Switch on the lamp fixture with the on/off switch (I).
  2. Set the dimmer slider (G) to the left.
  3. Rotate the adjuster dial (H) counter-clockwise until the brightness is the lowest without the lamp fixture going off or flickering (Fig. 7).
  4. Switch off the lamp fixture with the on/off switch (I), then switch on again.
  5. If the lamp fixture does not switch on properly or is flickering, rotate the adjuster dial (H) clockwise.
  6. Repeat step 4 and 5 until the lamp fixture is dimming properly.

Install Wall Plate

If the product was installed next to other switches, you will need to purchase a wall plate with the correct size/number of openings to accommodate all the units.

  1. Switch off the power at circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off with a voltage detector.
  2. Insert the main unit into the switch box being careful not to pinch any wires. Arrange the wires and tuck them in neatly.
  3. With the “UP” marking facing up, attach the main unit to the switch box with the 2 machine screws (E) (Fig. 8).
  4. Install the wall plate (not provided) on the main unit (Fig. 9). Installation method of the wall plate may differ depending on the type of wall plate used. Refer to its installation instructions.
  5. After the installation, switch on the power at the circuit breaker or fuse. Test if the switch works.

Operation

  • Switch on/off
    • Flip the on/off switch (I) to switch the lamp fixture on/off.
  • Dimness setting
    • Slide the dimmer slider (G) to the left side to dim the lamp fixture or to the right side to brighten the lamp fixture.

Cleaning and Maintenance

DANGER

  • Risk of fire, electric shock, or death!
  • Switch off the power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before servicing.

Cleaning

  • To clean the product, wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
  • Wipe the product dry after cleaning.
  • Never use corrosive detergents, wire brushes, abrasive scourers, or metal or sharp utensils to clean the product.
