FIG. 1
IMPORTANT
Before using the space heater, carefully read all of the instructions and follow them scrupulously. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for damage to persons and/or property caused by improper use of the equipment. This instruction manual is an integral part of the equipment and must therefore be stored carefully and passed on with the unit in the event of a change of ownership.
DESCRIPTION
This manual describes a radiation/convection space heater intended for use outdoors or in well-ventilated areas.
Warning
Using this heater in closed rooms is DANGEROUS and therefore PROHIBITED.
The simple installation and quick connection of an LPG tank allows this heater to be used locally and temporarily in stand-alone mode. The area to be heated receives a flow of homogeneous and uniform heat that radiates radially.
Space heaters can be run on propane gas (G31) or on L.P.G. (butane G30 and propane G31) according to the different gas categories indicated on Tab. I and shown on the heater identification plate.
All space heaters are equipped with safety devices that trip in case of serious malfunctions and switch off the heaters.
- the thermocouple and the thermal gas valve trip to close the gas flow if the flame is irregular or if it goes out;
- the inclination sensor trips to close the gas flow if the heater is excessively inclined and can overturn.
Warning
You must always identify the cause of the “block” and eliminate it before restarting the heater (see: “TROUBLESHOOTING”)
The section “TROUBLESHOOTING” describes all possible operating faults and their possible remedies.
CONDITIONS OF SUPPLY
The space heater is delivered packed on a cardboard box and can easily be handled with a manual or automatic fork lift with capacity exceeding 200 kg.
Warning
The heater is very heavy. NEVER try to lift it by hand: you could suffer
serious physical injury.
It contains:
- 1 space heater.
- 1 instruction and maintenance manual
- 1 instruction booklet with drawing and spare parts list
- 1 gas hose L = 5 meters
- 1 kit gas tank connection kit with:
- pressure regulator 0.4 – 1.5 bar
- safety valve in case of broken gas hose
- connection adapters for tank
GENERAL ADVICE
The heater must be installed, set up and used in accordance with the
applicable regulations and laws relating to the use of such equipment.
Provide at least 2 metres of clearance from surrounding walls, floor and/or
ceiling.
Warning
Do not use the heater on floors made with flammable materials.
Warning
Use in basements or below ground level is hazardous because of gas stagnation.
Make sure that:
- The instructions in this manual are carefully followed;
- The heater is not installed in an area where there is a high risk of fire or explosions;
- No flammable materials are stored in the vicinity of the heater (minimum distance: 3 m);
- There is no overheating of walls, or ceilings made of flammable materials,
- All precautions have been taken to prevent fires;
- Ventilation in the area where the heater is located is guaranteed and sufficient for use of the burner. Air quality limits in well-ventilated areas must be complied with. These areas must have an open surface area equal to at least 25% of the total surface area. The total surface area is calculated as the sum of all surrounding walled surfaces;
- There are no obstacles or obstructions to normal air intake for combustion and to radiated heat (sheets or covers on the heater, or walls or bulky objects near the heater);
- The heater is placed on a flat and stable surface;
Warning
If the heater is placed on an inclined surface with angle to horizontal
greater than 35°, the inclination sensor will prevent its operation.
- The heat flow is not directed toward the gas tank or drum;
- The heater is regularly monitored during operation and checked before being started;
- The heater is away from walkways and is surrounded by barriers to prevent people from accidentally touching its hot surfaces.
- At the end of each work period, main gas stopcock is closed and gas hose disengaged and sealed.
Warning
This unit may not be used by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensorial or mental capacities or with limited experience and
familiarity unless they are under supervision or instructed on how to use the
unit by the person responsible for its safety.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Warning
All of the operations described in this section must be performed by
professionally qualified personnel only.
Warning
DO NOT connect the heater to any heat distribution and/or conduction system.
Doing so may cause a serious risk of fire.
CONNECTION TO THE GAS TANK OR DRUM
The heater must be connected to an appropriately sized gas tank or drum.
Warning
All of the connections have left-hand threads, and must therefore be tightened
by turning anticlockwise.
Warning
The dimensions of the gas tank or drum must be based on the required gas flow
rate and supply pressure. The supply pressure to the pressure regulator must
always be greater than 2 bar.
The heater is supplied with a gas hose (a) safety valve in case of broken gas hose (b), and pressure reducer (c) with couplings (d) for connection to different types of tanks.
Depending on the country of destination, the heater may be supplied with different types of gas pressure regulators (TYPE I, II, or III.)
Warning
The installer is responsible for guaranteeing that the correct fitting is
used for the connection to the gas tank or drum.
Always tighten the tank fitting first, and then the pressure regulator, which
has a swivel fitting.
TYPE I
- pressure regulator with G5 fitting for AT-BG-CY-DK-DE-EE-LTLV-MK-MT-RO-TR-NL.
- G5/G2 fitting, with G2 fitting for G2 for BE-CZ-ES-FR-HR-HU-LUPL-PT-SI-SK.
- G5/G1 fitting, with G1 fitting for IT-GR
- seal for NL, to install on G5 pressure regulator for NL.
TYPE II
- pressure regulator with G7 fitting for FI – IE – GB.
TYPE III
- pressure regulator with G9 fitting for SE – NO.
Warning
The seal of the couplings must be checked by pouring liquid soap on them: the
appearance of bubbles indicates possible gas leaks.
Warning
Propane and buthane are heavier than air, therefore any gas leakage can cause
gas stagnation on the floor or in any underlying room.
The gas tank must be changed and replaced in an open room, away from sources of heat and open flame, taking care to check that the instructions in this paragraph are followed.
Warning
Always make sure that the seal (if required by the fitting) is present between
the reducer and the tank. Make sure the gas hose has been tightened without
twisting it: possible torsional stress may seriously damage the hose.
Warning
ALWAYS make sure that the gas hose is protected and cannot be stepped on
and/or flattened (even accidentally) by people and moving vehicles.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
STARTING
To start the space heater:
- Set the pressure regulator to maximum pressure
- Slowly open the gas stopcock on the gas tank.
Warning
In case of gas leaks, immediately close the gas stopcock and call technical
service in order to find the origin of the leak.
- Press the gas valve button (4) and simultaneously press the piezo igniter (3) once or twice until the flame light up.
- Keep the thermal gas valve button (4) pushed for at least 15 – 20 seconds until the thermocouple is completely heated, then release the button: the flame will remain on.
If the heater still does not function, see “TROUBLESHOOTING” to identify the cause of the malfunction.
STOPPING
To stop the heater, close the gas supply stopcock on the tank. The flame will
remain on until all of the residual gas has burned, thereby preventing a slow
discharge or sudden leak if the gas hose is removed.
Lastly, close the gas supply stopcock and turn off the isolation switch.
Warning
Wait at least 2 minutes before restarting the heater, to allow the
thermocouple to cool completely.
TRANSPORTING AND HANDLING
The heater may be lifted and moved ONLY after it has sufficiently cooled.
Warning
Before moving the unit:
- Stop the heater as indicated in the “STOPPING” section;
- Close the gas stopcock and disconnect the gas hose;
- Wait until the heater cools.
Warning
During transportation and/or storage, make sure the gas valve group and gas
connection pipes are not knocked or damaged in any way.
MAINTENANCE
For efficient operation of the heater, clean the combustion chamber, and burner at regular intervals. Remove all debris.
Warning
Before doing any maintenance:
- Stop the heater as indicated in the “STOPPING” section;
- Close the gas stopcock;
- Wait until the heater cools.
Warning
Incorrect cleaning of the heater can cause damage to property and/or people.
Warning
All of the operations described in this section must be performed by
professionally qualified personnel only.
