    Product Overview

Power supply

  1. Battery operation

    • Open the battery compartment by pressing the marking and opening the lid.

    • Take out the used batteries by pulling the first one with your index finger.
Then take out the second battery.

    • When inserting the new batteries (2 x 1.5V, type UM-3, AA or LR6 / R06), observe the correct polarity
      Note:
Take out the batteries when you know that the device won’t be used for an extended period of time.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by batteries.
      Environmental note:
Batteries, including those which contain no heavy metal, should not be disposed with household waste.
Please dispose used batteries in an environmentally manner.
Find out about the legal regulations which apply in your area.

  2. Power adaptor operation (with 3V / 200mA power adaptor, central positive in polarity)

    • Plug the power adaptor (not included) into the DC jack socket (2.5mm in diameter) on the left of the device.
    • The battery power mechanism will be switched off.
Note: You cannot charge either alkaline/zinc–carbon or rechargeable battery when connected with power adaptor.
  3. Dynamo power
    Note:
You can charge the radio via Dynamo power with the battery switch to battery or dynamo position. The Dynamo charging is to the built-in dynamo battery not the battery in the battery compartment. Take out Dynamo crank handle from its resting position.

    • Crank the handle at the rate of 120 RPM either clock or counter-clock until the charging LED indicator is on indicating charging condition.

    • Under normal listening conditions, one minute of charging by dynamo allows radio-listening for approx. 6 minutes through speaker and approx. 10 minutes playing time using earphones.
More cranking will generate more playing time.

    • Make sure the handle is in its resting position after charging is complete.

    • You can crank to charge the radio either radio it’s in on or off position.

    • Make sure the telescopic antenna is fully retracted before start cranking.

Note:
When AC power adaptor is plugged into DC jack, the dynamo charging won’t be effective.
Note:
The built-in rechargeable battery for Dynamo power will hold 300-500 charges, therefore it’s suggested to power the radio by standard battery or AC power adaptor (not included).

Radio operation
  1. Select the power to Battery (make sure the batteries are full and placed correctly) or Dynamo position by switching battery / dynamo switch.

  2. Switch on the radio by turning the power / volume control.

  3. Select desired radio band (AM or FM).

  4. For optimal FM reception, pull out the telescopic antenna and adjust it till you get the best signal.
For AM, align the antenna by turning the radio for best reception and avoid interference from computer, electronic devices etc.

  5. Adjust the volume with the rotary volume control.

Listening with earphones
Plug the earphones (3.5mm, stereo) into the earphones socket on the left side of the device. This will automatically switch off the loudspeaker.

Emergency buzzer
Press the Emergency Buzzer button will sound the emergency buzzer to let the people know that it’s in emergency status or something like “I am here and need help”. Press the button again to switch off the buzzer.
Note:
The Emergency buzzer can be turned on when radio is in both on and off modes.

Backlight
The radio has a backlight next to the dial window, it will illuminate when the backlight button is pressed and turn off automatically after 5
seconds.
