Important safety instructions

  1. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  2. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  3. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.
  4. Apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing liquids and no objects filled with liquids, shall not be placed on the apparatus.
  5. The batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
  6. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment and warranty.
  7. CAUTION: Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
  8. Do not allow your radio to be exposed to water, steam or sand.
  9. Do not leave your radio where excessive heat could cause damage.
  10. The following safety-relevant information should be considered as applicable:
    • minimum distances around the apparatus for sufficient ventilation;
    • the ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspaper, table-cloths, curtains, etc.;
    • no naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus;
    • attention should be drawn to the environmental aspects of battery disposal;
    • the use of apparatus in tropical and/or moderate climates.
  11. CAUTION: Danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.
  12. If an apparatus is provided with a replaceable lithium battery, the following applies:
    • if the battery is intended to be replaced by the user, there shall be a warning close to the battery or in both the instruction for use and service instructions.

Before you can use the internet functionality of your radio, you must have the following

  • A broadband internet connection (not required for DAB radio, FM radio).
  • A wireless (Wi-Fi) modem or router connected to your broadband internet.
  • Your WEP / WPA key or password to access your wireless network, if necessary.

Powering on and connecting the radio

  1. Power your radio.
    When you first use your radio, connect it to a USB charging port or USB power adapter supplying 5V / 2.4A. The radio’s Battery charging indicator will turn solid green to indicate the radio’s internet battery is being charged and turn off when the battery is fully charged. The radio will automatically turn on when connected to a USB power source. The radio’s display will light up and show “SANGEAN”.

  2. Go through the on-screen startup wizard.
    After the radio’s software has been loaded, the startup wizard will appear on the display. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the 1/18 Yes APP WPSNo wizard. To complete connecting your radio to your router and to the internet, make sure your router is powered on, and that it has an internet connection.

Listening to the radio

  1. Turn on the radio by either connecting it to a USB power source or by pressing and holding the Power button to power the radio using its internal battery.
  2. Press the Home button to go to the radio’s Main menu.
  3. Use the Left and Right button to select the desired mode and then press the Select button to confirm your choice.
  4. Select the Configuration item in the Main menu to configure the radio’s settings. While in the radio’s menus, the Up, Down, Left and Right buttons can be used to move the cursor or to go to the next screen, while the Select button can be used to select items.
  5. In the FM mode, press the Select button and then select [Yes] to perform an automatic scan and automatically configure the radio’s preset stations. Alternatively, you can manually search for a channel by either pressing the Left or Right button to decrease/increase the frequency or by pressing and holding the Left or Right button to scan for the next radio station with a lower / higher frequency. Note: When using USB power and the DAB / FM service following function is off, or when the device is powered by battery, the Wi-Fi connection will be terminated when switching to FM or DAB mode on the radio to optimize reception. The AirMusic control app will also be disabled from controlling the radio.
  6. Press the Volume + / – button to adjust the sound level as needed.
  7. Storing a preset: After tuning into a station, press and hold the Preset button for 2-3 seconds then release to enter the preset setting menu. In this menu, use the Up, Down, and Select buttons to select and confirm the required preset number.

Recalling a preset: Press the Preset button and then select the desired preset station using the Up, Down, and Select buttons.

Note: All functions can also be controlled using the AirMusic Control app.
When using the AirMusic Control app, make sure your radio and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and do not press any of the radio’s buttons while connecting to avoid interrupting the connection process. If you would run into issues, try performing a factory reset or disconnect the radio from the USB power source and turn it off for 1 minute and then switch the radio on again.
