KIA Digital Key 2 Touch App

INTRODUCTION

Kia Digital Key 2 Touch lets you use your compatible Apple smartphone as your key. No fumbling with your key fob to access and start your Kia. Share digital keys easily and remotely with family and friends while controlling the level of access to your vehicle.

IMPORTANT: When activating Kia Digital Key 2 Touch in vehicle, at least one key fob must be in the car to properly pair the smartphone.

iPhone: Activate and Create Owner Digital Key in Kia Connect App

1. Take your iPhone and at least one key fob to your Kia and turn the vehicle on
2. In Kia Connect App, select the [Digital Key] button on the dashboard (middle right)
   • a. Once on the “Digital Key Activation” screen, tap [Continue] until you get to Wallet App
   • b. Tap [Continue to Wallet App]; iPhone will navigate to Apple Wallet
3. On the vehicle’s infotainment system, navigate to the Digital Key section from the Main Home Screen by selecting [Setup] > [Vehicle] > [Digital Key] > [Smartphone Key] > [My Smartphone Key]. Tap [Save].
4. On the “Car Keys in Wallet” screen, tap [Continue]
5. Place the iPhone onto the Charging Pad in the vehicle
6. Your iPhone and your vehicle’s infotainment system will pair to complete the activation process.
   Note: At this point, you may link your Digital Key to a Driver Profile on the vehicle’s infotainment system if you wish

iPhone: Send Digital Key Invitation with Apple Wallet

1. Navigate to your Apple Wallet App and select your Kia Digital Key
2. On the “Kia Digital Key” screen, tap […] at the top right
3. Tap [Invite…] on the menu
   • a. On this screen, tap [Invite] or tap [Set Access] to first set the Shared Key access level
   • b. If you tapped [Set Access], you can first set the desired access level of this Shared Key. Then tap [Invite]
4. You will be directed to SMS; Enter your saved contact or phone number to send this Shared Key Invitation
5. You will be asked to confirm before you send your text message with Shared Key Invitation
6. Once the recipient accepts your invitation, they will have a Shared Key for your vehicle. Their Shared Key will act similarly to your Digital Key, depending on the access level granted when you first sent the Shared Key Invitation

iPhone: Terminate Shared Key with Apple Wallet

1. Navigate to your Apple Wallet App and select your Kia Digital Key
2. On the “Kia Digital Key” screen, tap […] at the top right
   • a. Within this details page, tap an Existing Shared Key
   • b. Delete Shared Key by tapping [Revoke Access]
3. This Shared Key will be deleted and removed from Wallet App
4. Shared User will receive a notification that their Shared Key is no longer valid
5. Shared Key no longer exists

iPhone: Create Smartwatch Key (Method 1)

1. Complete Digital Key Activation and Owner Key Pairing
   • a. Ensure Smartwatch is on and paired to your Smartphone when you complete Owner Key pairing between Smartphone and Infotainment System
2. You will be shown a screen prompt to add KIA Key to Watch. Tap [Add Now]
3. Apple Wallet will ask you to confirm this decision
   • a. Enter phone passcode
4. Your Smartwatch will begin pairing a new Smartwatch Key
5. When the process is complete, the iPhone will indicate that the Smartwatch Key has been created. Tap [Done]
   • a. Your Smartwatch will show that a new Smartwatch Key has been created and added to your Smartwatch’s Wallet App. Tap [View Car Key] to view.
   • b. This screen shows your Smartwatch key on your Smartwatch Wallet App
6. Your Smartwatch Key will appear in your Watch App within the “Wallet & Apple Pay” section. Tap it to view
7. Screen will show details of the Smartwatch Key

iPhone: Create Smartwatch Key (Method 2)

1. Navigate to your Watch App
   • a. Make sure that your Smartwatch is switched on, worn on your wrist, paired to your Smartphone, and present.
2. Tap the [Wallet & Apple Payl section
3. If your Owner Key exists on your iPhone, you will see it listed. Tap [Add]
4. You will be shown a screen prompt to add KIA Key to Watch. Tap [Add Now]
5. Your Smartwatch will begin pairing a new Smartwatch Key
6. When this process is complete, your iPhone will show that Smartwatch Key has been created. Tap [Done]
7. Your Smartwatch will show that a new Smartwatch Key has been created and added to your Smartwatch’s Wallet app. Tap [View Car Keyl to view.
8. This screen shows your Smartwatch key on your Smartwatch wallet app
9. Your Smartwatch Key will now appear in your Watch App within the “Wallet & Apple Pay” section. Tap it to view.
10. The screen will show you details of the Smartwatch Key

Starting Vehicle with Kia Digital Key 2 Touch
Start the vehicle by placing your phone on the charging pad. Then press the brakes while pressing the engine start button. Once the engine starts, you do not need to keep your phone on the charging pad.

  Current eligible vehicle is the 2023 Telluride SX and higher trims. More models and trims to come in the near future.

• How can Kia Digital Key 2 Touch link to my driver profile?
  Kia Digital Key 2 Touch allows you, as the owner, to link to the Driver 1 Profile in your vehicle. You can have your customized settings ready for you when you unlock the doors and get in.

• Can Kia Digital Key 2 Touch link to secondary driver profiles?
  Currently, Kia Digital Key 2 Touch only allows the owner to link to a driver profile.

• How do I provide Kia Digital Key 2 Touch access to others?
  Owner can share keys with family and friends who are using the same type of device (iPhone to iPhone). Keys are shared directly from Kia Digital Key 2 Touch in Apple Wallet.

• How can I revoke/cancel a previously issued Kia Digital Key?
  Owner can navigate to their native wallet app and find a list of Shared Users, then click upon a Shared User and cancel their access. The Shared User will see that their digital key access has been removed.

• What kind of vehicle access control do I have for shared Kia Digital Key 2 Touch?
  Kia Digital Key 2 Touch allows you to grant full access to your vehicle (unlock, lock, and drive) or limited access to unlock and lock your vehicle.

• What about if I change my smartphone?
  If you change your smartphone with the same type of phone (iPhone to iPhone) you can delete your original owner key in the vehicle infotainment center and pair the new smartphone by going to the Digital Key section in the Kia Connect app and following the instructions provided.

• What if my smartphone is stolen?
  For Apple iPhone Users: Go to your Apple account and report phone as stolen. The Kia Digital Key 2 Touch will be deleted as part of the overall account locking process. Kia Digital Key 2 Touch will be deleted as part of the overall account locking process Alternatively, the Kia owner can delete the digital key directly from their infotainment system. The Kia Digital Key 2 Touch may also be deactivated from the Kia Owner’s Portal or the Kia Connect app.

• What happens to my Kia Digital Key 2 Touch keys if I sell my Kia?
  You should delete your Kia Digital Key 2 Touch profile before selling your Kia to ensure all digital keys are automatically removed. You can do this in the infotainment center inside the vehicle or from your Kia owner’s account. Can I use Kia Digital Key 2 Touch if my smartphone/watch has no power? Yes – there is a window of time key will still work on phone

• What Apple devices are compatible with Kia Digital Key 2 Touch?
  iPhones: Apple iPhone XS or newer phones can support Kia Digital Key 2 Touch. Watches: Apple Watches Series 6 or newer can support Kia Digital Key 2 Touch. All Apple devices should be on the latest version of iOS.

• What if I have no network coverage on my phone?
  Kia Digital Key 2 Touch uses Near Field Communication (NFC) to access your vehicle. No network coverage is needed after the initial setup.

• How many people can I share keys with?
  You can share digital key with up to three (3) people.
