(3)                                            (4)

Fitting Magnet Holder

CAUTION! Prepare magnets separate from each other, and place them far away from each other, as otherwise there is a danger of injury.

Remove the elastic buffers from the film (1) and press them on to the spot provided for the purpose (2). Use four buffers for each part of the magnet. As shown in the illustration (3), the adhesion points are in the round cavities provided for the purpose.

The Magnet Holders are only designed for use in filled aquariums. If the devices are mounted while the tank is not filled with water, the holding force might be too low.

If used with the max. recommended pane thickness, only limited 3D-setting is possible, as the lateral tensile forces might be too high. If adjusted at an angle of more than 30° to 40° to the direction of flow, a Magnet Extension might be required to ensure safe installation.

Accessories: Magnet Extension 6205.501 (4) increases the holding power of the Magnet Holder 6105.515 for use with a glass thickness up to 20 mm (3/4″).

Initial operation applicable for all Turbelle® stream

Mount the silence clamp: For this purpose, press the base plate (1) on one of the two magnets (2) (apply a rubber hammer, if and when required); press four silicone buffers (3) into the base plate (2), and the clamp (4) on to the silicone buffer.
Prepare a suitable position on the glass pane. The glass pane should be free from algae inside the aquarium, and should be dry and clean on the outside. (The outside part of the magnet holder is as waterproof as its inside part, consequently it can also be attached under water, e.g. when used on drainage shafts / overflow installations, in filter tanks, etc.)
Fit the inside parts of the magnet holder to the aquarium pane with the elastic buffer pointing in direction of the glass (5).
Hold the outside part of the magnet holder to the inside part (6), and then carefully bring together.
In order to move the magnet holder into another position without damaging the elastic buffer, the outside magnet should be slightly lifted away from the glass.
Clip the pump into the clamp (7) and set the requested direction of flow.
In the case of non-electronic versions in particular, we recommend the use of the protective grating (8) supplied in order to prevent smaller fish and crayfish from getting into the outlet of the pump.

Using the pump on panes with maximum glass thickness the 3D-adjustment of the magnet holder is limited due to increasing lateral tractive forces. A safe mounting could make requirable a Magnet Extension in case of shifting exceeds 40° – 50° (9).

It‘s not permitted to connect the pump to external device!

Initial operation applicable only for 6105 eco and 6255 eco

Plug the connector (1) from the power supply 6101.240 / 3154.120 (2) into the appropriate socket (3) on the Turbelle® controller (4), then connect the power supply to the plug (5).
An additional pump with controller (6) or a SmartController 7000.001 (7) can be connected to the upper socket of the Turbelle® controller.
More detailed connection information for the SmartController 7000.001 can be obtained from the respective instruction manual.

Automatic shut-down:
The pump will be stopped immediately in case of blockage or if the system runs dry. After the blockage has been removed, the pump will start up automatically after a delay of 30 seconds. The pump control is thermally protected. The power supply unit is protected against short-circuit and thermal overload.

Other power supply units for 6105 eco and 6255 eco – safety connector

Turbelle® stream 6105 eco and 6255 eco are pumps with an electronic motor. Thus, they can be operated on any direct-current source (battery, solar cells) from 10 V to 24 V. For a safe connection of the pump, we recommend the Turbelle® safety connector (article No. 6105.500 (1), which contains a 4 amps fuse. The safety connector permits normal operation with the TUNZE® power supply unit (2), but in case of a power failure it will automatically switch over to a battery (3) or a direct-current source.
Always ensure a correct charge condition of the battery by using a commercially available charger. Indoor use of lead starter batteries for cars is inadmissible!

Never connect the Turbelle® stream 6105 eco and 6255 eco to a battery or a direct-current source directly and without fuse.

Maximum direct-current source permissible 27.5 Volt (cut-off limit); above 45 Volt the electronic system will be destroyed.

Turbelle® controller

The Turbelle® controller is a device which is used to set the variable pump performance. It can provide a wave simulation, oscillation flow, an automatic search for the resonance frequency when the oscillation flow is used, and it is also equipped with a food timer. It can be directly connected to a SmartController 7000.001. The pump is therefore able to operate together with other pumps, for example, in the high/low tide mode. If the Moonlight 7097.050 (not included in the scope of delivery) is attached to the Turbelle® controller, the night-mode operation will be activated automatically. If this controller is connected to a second controller with the 7092.300 cable, a further pump can be connected and controlled, for example, to provide a wave pounding simulation or an oscillating current. A third controller can be added using the Y-adapter cable 7090.300.

Short description of the display

Button “food timer” (1)
The “food timer” button switches the pump off and on, allowing the fish to feed in peace and quiet, whereas the pump will automatically switch on again after approx. 10 minutes unless the “food timer” was manually activated through an actuation of the respective button.

Control knob “main power” (2)
The main performance of the pump can be adjusted with this control knob.

“Select” button (5)
Various programs can be selected with this button:
“pulse 2-10 s” (6)
Pulse operation for biologically active current pulses (= wave motion), in the range of 2-10 seconds.
“auto adjust” (7)
Automatic and easy searching for the perfect resonance frequency for the Turbelle® pump or Wavebox.
“wave ok” (8)
The “auto adjust” (7) is suspended by briefly pressing on the “select” button (5). The pulse frequency can also be fine-tuned manually with the control knob (3).

a) pulse

“external control” (9) – SmartController 7000.001

This setting is required for a connection to a SmartController 7000.001 or to another TUNZE® controller. If the external controller is not connected, or it doesn’t provide a control signal the pump will be switched off. The pump can still be set with the “main power” control knob (2) to specify the maximum performance.
However, we recommend to set this “main power” control knob (2) to full power every time! The setting button “pulse” (3) is without effect, because the controller can now be controlled externally.

Control knob “pulse” (3)
Controlling of the Turbelle® pump for wave simulation.
The performance will vary in a pulse cycle of 2 to 10 seconds, between the two performance levels specified with the control knobs “main power” (2) and “pulse power” (4). In the “off” position the pulse is switched off and the pump will operate with a constant performance which was only set with the “main power” (2) button.

Control knob “pulse power” (4)
The second performance level of the pump, is active during a pulse operation or the night mode.

a) wave ok
b) auto adjust

Commissioning / settings

Factory setting: for “select” the setting “pulse 2-10 s” (6) is switched on, and the control knobs “main power” (2) and “pulse power” (4) are set to approx. 80%. Control knob “pulse” is set to “off”.

“pulse 2-10 s” (6)
Press the “select” (5) button until “pulse 2-10 s” (6) lights up. If the control knob “pulse” (3) is turned it will light up, and the pump will pulse within the preset cycle of 2-10 s between the performance levels “pulse power” (4) and “main power” (2).

“auto adjust” (7)
Set the control knobs “pulse power” (4) to “off” and “main power” (2) to “100%”.

Turn the control knob (3) to the center position.
Press the “select” (5) button until “auto adjust” (7) lights up. After three seconds an automatic and easy searching for the perfect resonance frequency for the Turbelle® pump or Wavebox will be started. The pulsing will then start at a cycle of 0.3 seconds and increase every second in an interval of 0.01 seconds to the highest value of 2.0 seconds.

During this time, the aquarium should be closely observed. A water movement will be detectable, once the resonance frequency is reached. The “auto adjust” function (7) can then be stopped again by briefly pressing the “select” button (5), which will cause “wave ok” (8) to light up.
You can carry out an additional fine adjustment with the control knob “pulse” (3) now.
Before the “auto adjust”, we recommend positioning this control knob (3) to the center position.
The controller will remember the adjusted time. If someone accidentally presses the “select” button, the function “wave ok” can be selected again with the “select” button (5). Hereby, it must be observed not to remain on the “auto adjust” function for more than 3 seconds, because otherwise the stored value will be deleted. After 3 seconds, the “auto adjust” function will always restart with a new initial value of 0.3 seconds.

parallel                            inverse

Turbelle® controller as MASTER with additional pumps as SLAVE

With the cable 7092.300, the Turbelle® controller (1) can control another Turbelle® pump (2) simultaneously. In this case the first pump with the associated Turbelle® controller (1) is referred to as MASTER; the various settings are made on this controller. The second pump (2) is called SLAVE and its Turbelle® controller should be set to “external control”, while the “main power” knob remains active. This is also possible with the Y-adapter cable 7090.300, however this will enable the additional connection of the Moonlight 7097.050 (3) or a third pump.

Turbelle® controller in the inverse operation (4):
If a second Turbelle® pump (or Wavebox) is positioned on the opposite side of the aquarium, the inverse operation must be activated on the controller. To do this, press the “food timer” button on the MASTER Controller for more than 5 seconds. Visually, the function will be indicated through a blinking of the “select” LED. To switch back to the parallel operation (factory default setting), the “food timer” button on the MASTER Controller must be pressed again for more than 5 seconds, which will cause the LED to be lit constantly.
Note: The inverse function cannot be switched to the “external control” function or during the “auto adjust” operation.

Night mode / Moonlight

Night mode
The photodiode of the Moonlight for the Turbelle® is activated by inserting the (optional) Moonlight 7097.050 into the controller socket, and by mounting it in the illuminated area of the lamp. Accordingly, the Turbelle® pump will be switched off when the light is turned off in the pulse mode.
With an additional adjustment on the Turbelle® controller for the “pulse 2-10 s” wave simulation, the pump will continue to run with the “pulse power” (4) performance setting. In the morning, after the light has switched on again, the selected pulse operation of the pumps will continue in the performance range between “pulse power” (4) and “main power” (2).
If oscillating current was selected on a Turbelle® controller (auto adjust), the pulse operation will only run while the light is on.
Permanent attachment of the photodiode at a tested position in the aquarium:
For test purposes, hold the photodiode into the beam area of the aquarium lamp until the Turbelle® pump starts the pulse operation. With HQI spotlights a minimum distance of 30 cm (11.8 in.) must be observed, since light and heat damages will be unavoidable otherwise!

Night mode / Moonlight

Moonlight / moon phase simulation
The moon phase depends on the constellation between the Sun and the Moon. New Moon consolations occur every 29.53 days on average. The Moonlight with photodiode 7097.050 (1) offers a simplified moon phase of 29 days. For this, a special LED is located in the photodiode which is positioned above the water surface. The moon phase is programmed to reproduce the lunar cycle from the full moon to the new moon. This cycle can be aligned to the natural moon phase by inserting the Moonlight with photodiode 7097.050 (1) on a full moon, which will then reset the phase. The Moonlight is only illuminated when the photodiode receives very little or no light. It is therefore adapted to the light cycle of the aquarium.

Detaching the pump cable

For installation purposes, the pump cable can be detached from the controller:
Remove the setting buttons with a small flat-head screwdriver (1).
Remove both screws on the rear side of the housing (2).
Remove the plug from the circuit board, and reattach it after the successful installation (3).

Cable guard 6040.019

All Turbelle® electronic pumps (6105, 6255) are supplied and preassembled with a protective tube for cables (1).
For non-controllable Turbelle® synchronous motor pumps, the Cable guard 6040.019 (2) (a helical coil) can be ordered separately as an accessory.
Both protective tube for cables (for 6105 and 6255) and Cable guard 6040.019 (2) (non-provided accessory for 6065, 6085 and 6125) protect the cable of all Turbelle® pumps against damage from aquarium inhabitants, such as some coral- eating fish (e.g. triggerfish) or sea urchins, which eat algae growing on the cable surface. Therefore, we recommend placing the cable as far as possible in such a way that it is exposed to as little light as possible to avoid algae growth.
Cable protection both by the protective tube for cables (1) and by Cable guard 6040.019 (2) is limited in time, since by gnawing off algae, collaterally small particles of the plastic surface will be removed. For that reason, the cable guard should be checked regularly and it should even be replaced if the cable protection can no longer be assured by it.
Caution! If the protective tube for cables or the Cable guard is not in use to protect a Turbelle® pump or not replaced in time with the result of cable damage by animals, this will lead to a warranty exclusion!

Arrangement examples in aquariums

This type of circulation pump for aquariums from 250 to 4,000 liters (66 to 1,057 USgal.) can be easily concealed in the corners of an aquarium, and therefore facilitate the harmonious overall appearance of an aquarium with very strong movement of the water at the same time.

Nano aquariums larger than 250L (66 USgal.) (1)
Two Turbelle® streamcan be easily positioned 20 or 30 cm (9 or 12 in.) below the water surface in the corners of the aquarium, oriented precisely towards the front pane and surface. Therefore they completely disappear from the aquarium scenery. Using a timer or SmartController 7000.001, the occuring circulation stream ensures parallel stream lines.

Aquariums larger than 1,000L (1,057 USgal.)
Here, two or four Turbelle® stream can be used for a high/ low tide simulation. With the non-electronical Turbelle® this can be performed in a 6-hour cycle using a timer, and with a SmartController 7000.001 for the Turbelle® electronic 6105 eco and 6255 eco.

Servicing

Thoroughly clean the pump and the drive assembly in regular intervals, at least once a year. In case of unfavourable conditions, such as high lime content, a lot of sediment or failures, shorter intervals may be necessary (about every three months).

Open the pump as shown in illustration (1) and pull out the drive assembly (2).

Clean all parts, which includes the impeller housing, the drive assembly with impeller as well as the rotor compartment.

Never use hard objects to remove the dirt, but rather a brush or soft cloth with detergent and/or vinegar. If the drive assembly is too loose and has too much clearance, replace the entire part.

The assembly is carried out in reverse sequence.
