TUNZE Care Magnet Nano 0220.010
General Information
- TUNZE® Care Magnets nano (1), long, strong und strong+ (2) are innovative glass pane cleaners for an effective and convenient cleaning of aquarium panes.
- For cleaning, they do not use a flat cleaning surface but special plastic blades made of wear-resistant high-performance plastic. The two plastic blades considerably better remove the algae from the glass — almost as good as a sharp metal blade.
- The inner magnet is more than 3 mm away from the aquarium glass (3) and prevents the aquarium sand from jamming. This makes it almost impossible to scratch aquarium panes (glass or acrylic).
- Attention! Be careful when using partially magnetic sand (Hawaiian Black)!
- The TUNZE® Care Magnet can remain in the aquarium in the long run without disrupting the overall scenery. All materials that come into contact with the environment are resistant to corrosion and hydrolysis.
- Protected by national and international patents.
Special plastic blades (1)
The lifespan of a blade ranges from several months to approximately one year, depending on the circumstances. The low flow and friction resistance when cleaning with, at the same time, a high magnetic coupling and optimal cutting angle make these special blades particularly efficient. With its small plastic blade, the Care Magnet can also be used to a limited extent on acrylic panes.
Stainless steel blade (2)
With Care Magnet long 0222.015, strong 0222.020 and strong + 0222.025, the
large blade can be extended with the special stainless steel blade supplied
when used on glass aquarium panes with particularly hard algae (or older
deposits, thick limestone algae).
Caution! Risk of injury!
Keep away from children! (3)
- This device is only suitable for users (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if adequate supervision or comprehensive instruction concerning the operation of the device is provided by a responsible person. Make sure that children do not play with the device.
- The patented principle which uses plastic blades with a different length creates a varying application pressure, enabling the narrow blade to remove even tightly attached algae. And with the wide blade, it is possible to perform a large-scale algae removal.
- Thanks to its slim design, disturbance to plants, corals and decor is reduced or eliminated.
- The Care Magnet can also be used on round aquarium glass panes or round-arched windows.
- Plastic blades with round edges enable a smooth transition to the next pane at the aquarium edges without damaging the silicone joints.
- It doesn’t distribute the algae within the aquarium as a green dust; the algae is rolled into small pieces which will be consumed by many species of fish.
- It can also be used as a hand scraper.
- The locking pins ensure that the blades are held firmly on the Care Magnet.
Care Booster
- Two Care Boosters (floaters) (1) are mounted on the TUNZE® Care Magnets long, strong and strong+.
- The Care Booster on the inner cleaning magnet (2) can float to the surface (4) as soon as it detaches from the outer magnet. This avoids having to bring up the magnet from the bottom of the aquarium by hand. The Care Booster also protects the aquarium inhabitants from collisions. On the whole, it makes handling easier.
- Being mounted on the outer magnet (3), the Care Booster can be used as a comfortable and ergonomic grip aid (5) and still remains much more compact and unobtrusive than conventional algae magnets. When the Care Booster is mounted, the outer magnet also slides on special plastic surfaces instead of on the felt strip, which reduces the frictional resistance.

- 2 spare plastic blades 45 mm (1.77”) (6) + 86 mm (3.38”) (7) 1 stainless steel blade (8)
- 2 locking pins (9)
- 8 end caps in four colors (blue, green, black, white) (3)
Safety instructions
- Keep the Care Magnet away from children (1)!
- Caution risk of injury! Very strong magnet (2)!
- Do not bring the magnet halves together!
- The magnet attraction force is between 5 and 20 kg, depending on the type. Only touch the magnetic parts on the sides with your hand. Never place the hand or the fingers between the contact surfaces!
- The magnets attract metal parts which are less than 10 cm (4”) away with great force! When handling the magnets, no keys or credit cards should be in the pockets or jackets. They will also be attracted, and when the magnet is removed the fabric can become damaged or the credit card can become magnetically unreadable.
- Risk for electronic parts and data carriers within a radius of 1 m (36”).
- Be careful with sensitive devices, such as pacemakers, a min. distance of at least 50 cm (20”) should be maintained!
- Heating above 50°C will lead to the destruction of the magnet, or loss of the magnetic effect (3).
Application
- Remove both magnet parts of the Care Magnet from the packaging and place them onto a metal-free surface, thereby precisely observing the safety instructions!
- Place the inner magnet part with the plastic blades as far up as possible on the inner glass pane of the aquarium (1). Place the outer magnetic part with the felt pads onto the outer glass pane and slowly bring them together (2).
- The optimal cleaning effect of the aquarium glass pane can be achieved by applying a steady motion in the length-wise direction (3).
- Through other movements the inner magnet could separate from the glass pane and sink to the bottom. This is avoided by the included Care Booster (4), which lets the inner magnet float to the surface of the water (5).
- The inner magnet is more than 3mm away from the aquarium glass pane, and thus prevents a jamming of the aquarium sand (6).
- However, it cannot be completely ruled out that a tiny grain of sand becomes jammed under the plastic blade in the sand zone, which can then cause scratches. Be careful when using partially magnetic sand (Hawaiian Black)!
- The large blade should only be expanded with the included stainless steel blade for aquarium glass panes with particularly tough algae.
- For model 0222.015, 0222.020 and 0222.025 standardly included in the scope of delivery, model 0220.010 expandable with item no. 0220.154.
- For this, the blue holder must be separated from the plastic blade (6), position the stainless steel blade (7) and lock it with the blue holder (8).
Blade replacement
- The service life of a plastic blade is from several months up to approx. one year. If the cleaning with the Care Magnet leaves algae traces on the glass pane, we recommend checking both blades (with the finger), replacing one or both of them if necessary (a replacement blade is included).
- To do this, pull out the locking pin of the inner magnet (9a) and remove the blade upwards (9b), then insert new blade (10a) and locking pin (10b).
- If necessary the felt strip of the external magnet can be replaced very easily (11), item no. 0220.157.
Assembly / Removal of the Care Booster
- The two Care Boosters (floats) are ex factory mounted on the inner (1) and outer magnets (2) of Care Magnet long, strong and strong+. The Care Magnet can also be used without the floats.
- To disassemble, take the float in your hand and use your thumb to apply firm pressure to the protruding part of the handle (3) until the retaining clips release from the undercuts (4)
Replacement of the end caps
The blue end caps are fitted ex factory to both magnets of the Care Magnet. These can be individually replaced with the included green, black or white end caps. Simply slide the blue end caps from of the guide bar (5) and slide the end cap with the desired color over the guide bar (6). In that way, the Care Magnet can be visually adapted perfectly to the tank biotope or to the aquarium environment.
