Product Usage Instructions

Safety Warnings:

  3. This CO alarm is designed for domestic use only.
  4. Use of this appliance is not a substitute for proper installation and maintenance of fuel-fired equipment.

Commissioning:

  1. Slide the back of the device downward and remove it.
  2. For wall mounting, use the supplied adhesive or drill 2 holes of 4mm diameter side by side, 46mm apart. Insert dowels into the holes, align with backing plate holes, and screw it on.
  3. Insert 1pc CR123A battery into the battery compartment ensuring correct polarity.
  4. The appliance will beep and start a countdown from 120 seconds when entering Preheat mode after correctly inserting the battery.
  5. After the countdown, press the TEST button to check the operation of the device.

WARNINGS

  1. Please read and keep the following instructions before using the product. The original instructions are in Hungarian languange.
  2. This alarm is designed to monitor CO levels continuously. Its response time meets the requirements of EN 50291-1: 2018 and EN 50291-2: 2019.
  3. The device is not a toy! Keep away from children!
  4. The alarm must be installed only by a competent person who is able to follow the instructions.
  5. Test the alarm every month to ensure proper operation.
  6. Make sure that the product has not been damaged in transit
  7. Only an adult should change the batteries!
  8. When inserting the batteries, make sure the polarity is correct!
  9. Do not use batteries of different brands and/or charge levels together!
  10. If it spills, wear protective gloves and clean the battery compartment with a dry cloth!
  11. Remove batteries immediately after they are exhausted!
  12. Attention! Risk of explosion if batteries are incorrectly replaced! Only replace with the same or a substitute type!
  13. Do not expose batteries to direct heat or sunlight! Do not open, set on fire or short-circuit!
  14. Batteries that cannot be charged must not be charged! Risk of explosion!
  15. Do not solder or weld directly to the batteries!

This CO alarm is designed for domestic (weekend homes) use. Use in caravans, motorhomes and sailing boats is not permitted.

LOCATION
The emergency alarm should be placed in the first place close to equipment which generates combustion products during operation. Any incomplete combustion process can cause an emergency situation due to the formation of carbon monoxide: gas stove, gas cooker, gas boiler, gas boiler, gas boiler, gas boiler, gas heater, fireplace, oil stove, wood and coal burning stove, barbecue stove, cigarette smoke, car engine exhaust pipe, etc…
A blockage in the chimney, or sometimes unfortunate wind conditions, can cause combustion products to flow back into the home. The killer gas can also appear next to the boiler and other appliances connected to the chimney, or at the bottom vents and clean-outs of the chimney. A similar situation can occur with kitchen extractor hoods above gas hobs. Today’s highly insulating windows and doors do not allow the natural ventilation that used to be possible in the home. It is therefore advisable to install carbon monoxide alarms next to the appliances listed above and in the following rooms: kitchens, bathrooms, children’s rooms, bedrooms, hallways, boiler rooms, and any rooms with chimneys in the walls, garages, caravans, … For a minimum level of protection, it is essential to have carbon monoxide alarms in bedrooms and in rooms where you spend a lot of time!
Ideally, for maximum protection, an alarm should be used in all rooms where combustion products may be generated.
Attention! The use of this appliance is not a substitute for the proper installation, use and maintenance of fuel-fired equipment, including proper ventilation and drainage systems.

POSITIONING THE DEVICE

Carbon monoxide has a similar density to warm air and therefore moves with warm air. The ideal positioning of the unit is close to the ceiling, higher than any door or window, and approximately equidistant from the side walls. The wall-mounted unit must be at least 30 cm from the ceiling. The device must be between 1 m and 3 m horizontally from the edge of the nearest potential hazard. If there is a partition in the room, mount the device on the side above the potential source of danger. In rooms with sloping ceilings, alarms must be installed on the higher side of the room.
To ensure reliable operation, the device must not be installed:

  • in a closed space (e.g. in a cupboard or behind a curtain), where something (such as furniture) is blocking it,
  • directly above a drain or in places with high humidity (e.g. directly above a sink, next to a bathtub, shower, washing machine,…),
  • next to a door or window,
  • not be placed in the path of flowing air, next to an exhaust fan, ventilator or similar ventilation opening,
  • -Temperatures below -10 °C or above 40 °C,
  • where dirt dust can clog the sensor,
  • in a damp, humid, damp place or in the immediate vicinity of a stove
  • do not mount the appliance on the highest point of a vaulted or sloping ceiling
  • do not place in an environment where “electrical noise” may cause false alarms
  • in the immediate vicinity of cooling or heating equipment, near fans
  • should not be placed in a place where smoke or vapour may be naturally present (e.g. near the stove and hob in the kitchen, near a water heater, etc…), near a smoking area
  • in a garage close to the generation of exhaust fumes

COMMISSIONING
Attention! The alarm must be installed only by a competent person who is able to follow the instructions.

  1. Slide the back of the device downwards and remove it.
  2. For wall mounting, use the supplied adhesive or drill 2 holes of 4mm diameter side by side, 46mm apart. Insert the dowels into the holes, align the holes on the backing plate with the holes and screw it on.
  3. Insert 1pc CR123A batteries into the battery compartment, taking care to ensure correct polarity.
  4. When correctly inserted, the appliance will beep and start a countdown from 120mp when entering Preheat mode.
  5. After the countdown has expired, check the operation of the device by pressing the TEST button. Normally, when the TEST button is pressed, the device emits an acoustic and light signal 6. Slide the device onto the back and attach it. The device is now ready for use.

WIRELESS CONNECTION

  1. In normal mode, press and hold the TEST button for at least 5 seconds until the red indicator starts flashing. The device will then enter pairing mode.
  2. Open the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
  3. Sign in, then click Add device.
  4. In the list, navigate to Safety Sensor – CO alarm – CO alarm (Wi-Fi).
  5. Log in to the network you want to use, select “Confirm indicator is blinking”, then select “Blink Quickly”.
  6. If the connection is successful, the red indicator will stop flashing and the device will appear within the app.
  7. The alarm is now ready for use.

Attention! The device keeps the pairing mode for 1 minute. If it exceeds this time, you must re-enter pairing mode by following step 1. If it is still necessary, remove and replace the batteries and repeat the above steps after entering Normal mode.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

To replace the batteries, remove the back cover of the alarm and then replace the 1xCR123A lithium batteries again, taking care to ensure correct polarity. When the last battery is inserted, the alarm will beep and enter Preheat mode. After each battery change, test the unit by pressing the TEST button.

IN THE EVENT OF AN ALARM
A loud alarm indicates that potentially dangerous levels of carbon monoxide have accumulated in the room. The alarm should always be taken seriously!
Remain calm and follow the steps below in the order given:

  • Increase ventilation by opening all doors and windows.
  • Stop using all combustion appliances and shut them off if possible.
  • Leave the building immediately!
  • Leave doors and windows open. The alarm will stop only when the ppm reading drops below 30. It is not possible to silence the alarm. Only re-enter the building when the alarm stops.
  • Seek medical help for those who have suffered carbon monoxide poisoning and inform the doctor that carbon monoxide inhalation is suspected
  • Call the appropriate service or maintenance representative for your gas appliance, or the emergency number of your gas supplier if necessary, to identify the source of the carbon monoxide and correct the problem.
  • Do not use fire alarms again until they have been checked in accordance with national legislation by a competent professional and approved for use.
  • Not only can carbon monoxide emissions come from combustion appliances and thus cause alarms, but also from other sources (e.g. large amounts of tobacco smoke, exhaust gas, city gas, emissions from smouldering fires).

MAINTENANCE, CLEANING

  1. Check the operation of the alarm unit by pressing the TEST button at least once a month. While holding the button down, the unit will display a combined sound and light signal. The end of the life of the carbon monoxide alarm will be indicated on the unit. If you notice any abnormalities or if the expiry date on the product label has passed, replace the appliance.
  2. Once a month, remove the appliance from the back cover and vacuum the cover and air vent with a soft brush head to remove dust and dirt. Immediately after cleaning, reinstall and check that the appliance is working correctly by pressing the test button
  3. Never use detergents or solvents to clean the appliance.
  4. Do not use air freshener, hair spray or other aerosol products near the carbon monoxide alarm.
  5. Do not paint the device. Paint can clog the air vents and adversely affect the operation of the carbon monoxide alarm.
  6. Never attempt to disassemble, modify, or clean the inside of the unit, as this may result in malfunction and void the warranty. Designed for indoor use only!

Materials that can affect the functioning of:
The following materials can affect the reliability of the device in the short or long term, cause a false alarm, affect the operation of the sensor and damage it: propane, ethyl acetate, alcohol-based products, paints, thinners, solvents, adhesives, hairsprays, aftershaves, perfumes, certain cleaning products.

SYMPTOMS OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING

Carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless, poisonous gas that causes death if inhaled in high concentrations by inhibiting the blood’s ability to carry oxygen. It is formed when fossil fuels such as gas oil, propane, natural gas, oil and wood are burned and smoked. The toxicity of inhaling carbon monoxide depends on concentration (ppm) and duration of exposure (how long it is inhaled).

Concentration Signs and symptoms
200 ppm It causes mild headache, fatigue, dizziness and nausea within two to

three hours.
400 ppm| It causes severe headaches within an hour or two and can become life- threatening after three hours.
800 ppm| It causes vomiting, nausea, loss of consciousness within two hours and death within three hours.
1600 ppm| It causes severe headache, dizziness and nausea within twenty minutes, death within an hour.
3200 ppm| Within five to ten minutes it causes severe headache, nausea and nausea, and within fifteen to twenty minutes death.
6400 ppm| These symptoms are experienced within one to two minutes, with death

expected within ten to fifteen minutes.

12800 ppm| It causes death within a few minutes.

The carbon monoxide alarm is not a replacement for smoke detectors and flammable gas detectors.

DISPOSAL
Waste equipment must be collected and disposed separately from household waste because it may contain components hazardous to the environment or health. Used or waste equipment may be dropped off free of charge at the point of sale, or at any distributor which sells equipment of identical nature and function. Dispose of product at a facility specializing in the collection of electronic waste. By doing so, you will protect the environment as well as the health of others and yourself. If you have any questions, contact the local waste management organization. We shall undertake the tasks imposed upon the manufacturer pursuant to the relevant regulations and shall bear all associated costs arising from such.
DISPOSING OF ALKALINE AND RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
Batteries, whether alkaline or rechargeable, must not be handled together with regular household waste. It is the legal obligation of the product’s user to dispose of batteries at a nearby collection center or at a retail shop. This ensures that the batteries are ultimately neutralized in an environment- friendly way.
