Disposal

  • The packaging is made of environmentally friendly material that you can discard at the local recycling point.
  • Pay attention to the labels on the packaging material when sorting waste, as these are marked using abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meaning: 1-7: Plastics; 20-22: Paper and pulp; 80-98: Composite materials

The following declaration only applies to Germany:

The symbol with the crossed-out trash can means that electrical and electronic appliances cannot be discarded together with household waste. Consumers are legally obliged to bring electrical and electronic appliances that have reached the end of their service life to a facility that performs a separate collection of unsorted municipal waste. This ensures environmentally friendly and re-source-saving recycling. Batteries and accumulators that are not completely encased by the electrical or electronic appliance and can be removed without being destroyed must be separated from the appliance before they are handed into a designated disposal facility.

  • The same applies to lamps that can be removed from the appliance without being destroyed.

  • Owners of electrical and electronic appliances operated in private households can hand these in at collection points designated by the public waste management authority or at one of the collection points established by the manufacturer or distributor of the electrical or electronic appliance.

  • There is no charge for handing in old appliances.  Please hand your old appliance to the LIDL branch in your area. Dealers operating retail space for electrical and electronic appliances measuring at least 400 m2 are obligated to accept surrenders.

  • The same applies to food retailers operat-ing a total sales area of at least 800 m2 provided they offer electrical and electronic appliances for sale on an ongoing basis or at least several times a year. Distance sale merchants maintaining a storage area of at least 400 m2 for electrical and electronic appliances or a total storage area of at least 800 m2 are likewise obligated to accept surrenders.

  • Distributors are obligated to ensure that appropriate recycling facilities are available within a reasonable distance so that old appliances can be surrendered free of charge.

  • Consumers are entitled to hand in their old ap-pliances free of charge to a distributor obligated to accept surrenders in the event the consumer acquires a new appliance of equal value with an essentially identical function.

  • This option also exists in the case of deliveries to a private household. In the distance selling branch, the option to have the old appliance picked up free of charge upon acquisition of a new appliance is restricted to heat exchangers, visual display units and equipment systems with at least one outer edge exceeding 50 cm in length.

  • The distributor is required to consult the consumer regarding her or his intention to surrender upon the conclusion of the purchase agreement.

  • Apart from that, consumers are entitled to surrender up to three appliances of any particular appliance type free of charge at the collection point of a distributor, irrespective of whether the consumer has acquired a new appliance.

  • Nevertheless, the edge length of the appliance in question must not exceed 25 cm.
Consumers are encouraged to adopt waste prevention measures.

  • With regard to electrical and electronic appliances, this means extending the service life of the appliance by repairing broken or defective appliances as well as selling of well-functioning, used appliances in lieu of handing them in for disposal.

Remove the battery in a non-destructive fashion before disposal and discard it separately (see “Disposal of the Batteries”).
The following declaration is applicable for all countries, except for Germany.

The symbol with the crossed-out trash can means that electrical and electronic appliances cannot be discarded together with household waste. Consumers are legally obliged to bring electrical and electronic appliances that have reached the end of their service life to a facility that performs a separate collection of unsorted municipal waste. The same applies to lamps that can be removed from the appliance without being destroyed.
Owners of electrical and electronic appliances from private households can hand these appliances in at the collection points provided by the municipal waste management facility or at collection points established by the manufacturer and/or the distributor. There is no charge for handing in old appliances.
This obligation to accept surrenders free of charge applies to purchases made in the store as well as in cases in which deliveries were made to a residential address. Surrender of the appliance is to occur at the same location at which delivery of the appliance was accepted. There must be no offsetting of transportation costs incurred for the appliances that have been taken back. Distributors are obligated to ensure that appropriate recycling facilities are available within a reasonable distance so that old appliances can be surrendered free of charge.
Consumers are entitled to hand in their old ap-pliances free of charge to a distributor obligated to accept surrenders in the event the consumer acquires a new appliance of equal value with an essentially identical function.
