The multi-function stop can be used as a parallel stop and also as a cross stop and mitre stop.
Multi-function stop handling
The multi-function stop consists of an angle stop 1 (Fig. 1), two exchangeable stop rails 2 and 3 and a rod holder 4.
The multi-function stop can be used:
- at the table top of Erika 70 und 85
- at the additional table (special accessories)
- at the sliding table (special accessories)
- at the bearing and support rail (special accessories)
The multi-function stop can be placed in any position at the dovetail guides and clamped as follows:
- Turn the clamping lever 22 (Fig. 3) vertically downwards to the unfastened position 22.1 (Fig. 6).
- Then place the rod holder 4 (Fig. 1) obliquely from above (Fig. 7) against the dovetail profile so that the clamping jaw 24 is pushed to the rear and engages in the profile.
- In the unfastened position 22.1 (Fig. 6) of the clamping lever, the stop can be moved variably on the profile.
- Turn the clamping lever 22 (Fig. 3) to the left to position 22.2 (Fig. 6) to clamp the rod holder.
By turning the clamping lever to the right to position 22.3 (Fig. 6), the rod
holder can be removed from the profile at any position.
Regularly clean the dovetail profile of the machine and of the rod holder as
well as the clamping surface of the clamping jaw 24 (Fig. 7) with a clean
cloth. This ensures the required clamping force.
Adjustment
Danger
Only carry out adjustments on the multi-function stop when the saw blade is stationary and the mains plug has been unplugged.
The position of the stop rails (workpiece positioning) to the angle scale has been precisely set at the factory. Nevertheless, if a later adjustment should become necessary, this is accomplished as follows:
- Unfasten the cylinder head screw 8 (Fig. 3) in the guide rod 5 at the underside of the stop with a screwdriver.
- Attach the multi-purpose guide fence in the dovetail guide on the left longitudinal side of the table by turning the clamping lever to position 22.2 (Fig 6).
- Fasten the guide rod with the lateral closing lever in position 23.2.
- Check whether the fence extension has been correctly set. Pay attention to the distance between fence extension and saw blade. At the rear ascending tooth, the distance must be slightly larger than at the front descending tooth.
- Move the angle stop 1 (Fig. 1) to the 0° or 90°position by releasing the upper handle 6 and switch on the detent with the detent button 14.
- Adjust the stop by turning the eccentric bolt 7 with a screwdriver. Turn the bolt until the needle points to the 0° or 90° position.
- Retighten the handle 6 again.
- Retighten the cylinder head screw 8 at the underside of the guide rod 5.
- Carry out a test cut!
If the test cut is not ok, start again with the adjustment.
The angle display is retained on the scale after readjusting the stop!
Application as parallel stop
The multi-purpose guide fence can be used on the right or left longitudinal side of the table as parallel guide fence. For this purpose, the angle fence 1 (Fig. 1) is set to 0° or 90°. Pay attention to the distance between parallel guide fence and saw blade. At the rear ascending tooth, the distance must be slightly larger than at the front descending tooth.
- Both stop rails 2 and 3 (Fig. 1) are interchangeable depending on the application. For this purpose, release the clamping lever 9 arranged on the upper side of the stop.
- Pull the stop rails completely out of the retaining bracket, replace them and clamp them again with the clamping lever 9. The stop lines must rest against each other, forming a 90° angle.
- For the circular saw bench function, the stop is fastened in the dovetail guide in such a way that the stop rail runs from the front table edge to beyond the centre of the saw blade (see Fig. 2).
- Set the intended dimension between saw blade and stop rail after releasing the lateral closing lever 23.1 (Fig. 6) on the rod holder 4 (Fig. 1) by moving the guide rod 5 (Fig. 3). The cut width can be read off the scale 10 (Fig. 2) at the edge of the stop rail that is facing the saw blade.
- Clamp the lateral closing lever 23.2 again.
- Fasten the stop rail additionally at the front edge of the table by means of the clamping piece 13 (Fig. 2).
- To do so, insert the square nut on the clamping piece into the groove of the stop rail.
- Unscrew the wing nut on the clamping piece until the wedge engages behind the dovetail profile of the table top.
- Tighten the wing nut.
In addition, the stop rail 2 (Fig. 1) can be used rotated by 90°. This facilitates cutting of narrow workpieces in particular with an inclined saw blade, since the then available low bearing surface enables closer positioning of the parallel stop to the saw blade. To do this, the clamping lever 9 is released at the stop. The stop rail 2 is completely pulled from the retaining bracket and turned to the left onto the flat side (90° turn). The narrow edge is facing the saw blade. Then retighten the clamping lever 9. With this setting too, the intended dimension between saw blade and stop rail can be read off the scale 10 (Fig. 2) at the edge of the stop rail facing the saw blade.
Application as cross stop and mitre stop
With the multi-function stop, the pivot point lies exactly in the saw blade plane. This means that the distance to the saw blade remains constant at all angle settings, so that the longitudinal scale in the stop bar is always correct. This prevents cutting into the stop profile. The prerequisite for this is that the stop rail 2 (Fig. 1) rests against the stop rail 3 and that the multi-function stop is correctly adjusted in relation to the saw blade.
When swivelling the saw blade, the distance to the multi-function stop changes
slightly and must therefore be readjusted slightly.
To set the pivot point at the saw blade level for the first time, proceed as
follows:
- Attach the multi-function stop in the dovetail guide on the left longitudinal side of the table.
- Move the angle stop 1 to the 0° or 90° position by releasing the upper handle 6 and the detent button 14 in such a way that the stop rail 2 is aligned parallel with the saw blade. Switch on the detent again with detent button 14. Then tighten the handle again.
- Gently push the stop rail 1 against the saw blade after releasing the lateral closing lever 23.1 (Fig. 6) on the rod holder 4 until the stop rail 2 rests parallel against the saw blade.
- Unfasten the stop plate 11 (Fig. 3) at the underside of the guide rod with a screwdriver.
- Push the stop plate 11 (Fig. 3) up to the rod holder and fasten it with the two cylinder head screws 12.
For cross and angle cuts on the pit saw, the multi-function stop is
conveniently attached to the left longitudinal side of the table. In this
position, the 0° or 90° mark is indicated on the angle scale when making right
angled cuts.
To make angle cuts, loosen the handle 6 (Fig. 1) on the upper side and swivel
the stop rail 2 to the desired position according to the angle scale. A detent
can be activated by means of the recesses 17 (Fig. 3) on the angle stop.
Retighten the handle afterwards.
The detent can be activated and deactivated by means of the detent button 14.
This is done by turning the detent button by 90° each time.
For angle cuts, both stop rails 2 and 3 can be used as workpiece stops at any
time. This means that right and left mitres on profiles are also possible
without adjustment.
The stop rail should always reach as close as possible to the cutting plane in
order to achieve better cutting quality. It is therefore notched at its ends,
so that the upper saw guard can be moved close enough even when cutting thin
workpieces.
By moving the multi-function stop along the table, the stop can additionally
be adjusted so that an optimum working method is achieved depending on the
respective workpiece dimensions.
Stop ruler (special accessories)
The 1 metre long stop ruler 15 (Fig. 5) replaces the stop rail 2 (Fig. 1) and
thus enables trimming according to scale up to 1 metre. The supplied trimming
cover 16 (Fig. 5) can be used as a length stop and adjusted according to
scale.
With the telescopic rod that is available as an optional accessory, the
trimming range can be extended to approx. 1.80 m. The support plate that is
included in the delivery serves as workpiece support.
Installation stop ruler
- After removing the stop rail 2 (Fig. 1), first mount the clamping nut 20 (Fig. 4) to the angle stop using the cylinder-head screw 21. The clamping nut is additionally required to absorb the longitudinal forces occurring when using the trimming cover.
- Swivel the angle stop to 45° for installation.
- Slide the stop ruler 15 onto the angle stop until the rear edge of the cut-out is in contact with the short stop bar (see Fig. 5). This ensures that the scale in the stop ruler matches the saw blade at every angle setting.
