FMVSS 110 Compliance Information
All dealers must determine if the Net weight they have added in the form of all options or accessories, when added to the weight of all Port/Dealer Installed options or accessories, exceeds the lesser of 1.5% of GVWR or 100 lbs. If the additional weight does exceed the lesser of the indicated thresholds, a “Load Carrying Capacity Reduced” label must be installed. A black, fine-point, indelible marker must be used to write by hand onto the label, the reduced carrying capacity in kilograms or pounds, which is the total weight of all added options and accessories.

Notes to the installer:

  1. Read the entire Installation Instructions prior to beginning the installation of this accessory.
  2. If applicable, scan the barcode label located on the accessory part or packaging prior to installing, to register the part. If this accessory is installed as a replacement, register the removal of the old part before registering the new part. Old and new parts will have different barcode data, and the old registration cannot be reused.
  3. Make sure the vehicle is completely clean and dry in the area(s) the part is to be installed.
  4. Ensure the vehicle is properly protected in the area(s) that the accessory is to be installed.
  5. NEVER place tools on painted surfaces, seating surfaces, dash pad, console or floor carpet/mats.
  6. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, etc., when required.
  7. Do NOT use a two-post vehicle lift for side step installation.

  1. Drop Cloth (Large), Bit Driver and #2 Phillips OR T30 Torx Bit

NOTE: Do NOT use a two-post vehicle lift for Side Step installation.
A. Starting on the right hand side (RH) of the vehicle, place a large drop cloth onto the floor next to the vehicle.
B. Open both (RH) doors.
C. Remove the one (1) screw from the rear lower wheel well area as shown.
D. Place the removed screw in a safe location for reinstallation.

  1. Plastic Trim Removal Tool and Needle-Nose Pliers

A. Carefully dislodge the underside of the (RH) rocker panel cover using a plastic trim removal tool to release the eight (8) pressure clips.
B. Carefully dislodge the nine (9) upper vertical surface pressure clips by pulling the rocker panel cover outward as shown.
C. Remove any clips that may have remained in the steel (RH) rocker panel by turning the clips 90° with needle-nose pliers.
D. Discard the (RH) rocker panel cover and clips.

Take care not to scratch the body surface.

  1. Utility Knife

A. Carefully examine the body seam sealer on the steel (RH) rocker panel.
B. Using a utility knife, shave away high points of the body seam sealer on the top and bottom surfaces of the steel rocker panel.

WARNING! Take precautions when using the utility knife to help avoid injury or damage. Take care not to scratch the body surface.

  1. 50/50 Mix Of Isopropyl Alcohol (70%) & Water and Clean Cloth

A. Clean the entire surface area of the steel (RH) rocker panel as shown, using 50/50 mix of Isopropyl alcohol (70%) & water and allow to fully dry

Ensure all surfaces have fully dried.

  1. Utility Knife

A. Remove the backing liner from two (2) anti-noise pads and adhere the pads onto the entire upper vertical surface of the (RH) rocker panel just above the clip holes, starting from the front of the vehicle and moving rearward as shown. Wrap the overhanging portion of the pads onto the horizontal surface.
B. Using a utility knife, cut through the anti-noise pad at the ten (10) rocker panel clip holes in a diagonal direction as shown, to expose the holes.
NOTE: Do not cut through the third from last rear clip hole.

WARNING! Take precautions when using the utility knife to help avoid injury or damage. Take care not to scratch the body surface.

A. Insert seven (7) spring nuts into the upper vertical clip holes shown and ensure they are fully locked in place.
NOTE: Carefully listen for a “click” to ensure spring nuts have been installed correctly.
B. Insert seven (7) spring nuts into the lower horizontal clip holes shown, and ensure they are fully locked in place.
NOTE: Carefully listen for a “click” to ensure spring nuts have been installed correctly

Make sure the spring nuts are fully seated and centered in the holes.]

  1. A. Carefully position the (RH) Side Step onto the (RH) rocker panel by inserting the forward portion of the Side Step behind the fender cladding then aligning the center and rear positioning clips on the Side Step to the center and rearmost panel holes. Apply firm pressure onto the clips to fully engage the two (2) clips.
    NOTE: Ensure the rear wheel well splash trim is installed over the Side Step as shown.
    B. Once the Side Step is in position, gently slide it rearward as

Make sure the spring nuts are centered in the side step holes.

  1. A. Insert and hand tighten seven (7) Bolt with Washer assemblies into the upper vertical surface of the (RH) Side Step as shown.
    NOTE: Apply upward pressure on the upper vertical surface of the Side Step to eliminate any gaps between top of Side Step and the body of vehicle.

  2. 10mm Socket, Ratchet, Extension and Torque Wrench

A. Insert seven (7) Bolt with Washer and Split Washer assemblies into the underside horizontal surface of the (RH) Side Step and into the spring nuts. Torque to: 6.17 N.m (63.00 kgf-cm, 55.00 lbf-in).
NOTE: Apply inward pressure onto the Side Step, as needed, until the holes in the Side Step align with the Spring Nuts.

Do not over-torque the bolt assemblies.

  1. 10mm Socket, Ratchet, Extension and Torque Wrench

A. Torque the seven (7) upper vertical surface Bolt with Washer assemblies to: 4.70 N.m (48.00 kgf-cm, 42.00 lbf-in).
NOTE: Apply upward pressure on the upper vertical surface of the Side Step to eliminate any gaps between top of Side Step and the body of vehicle.

  1. Do not over-torque the bolt assemblies.

  2. Bit Driver and #2 Phillips OR T30 Torx Bit

A. Reinstall the one (1) screw on the rear wheel well area as shown.
NOTE: Ensure the rear wheel well splash trim is installed over the Side Step.

  1. A. Install seven (7) Caps into the seven (7) rearmost cap locations on the (RH) Side Step with the beveled edge facing towards the top and the notch facing forward as shown. Make sure there is an audible ‘click’ from each cap to confirm correct installation.
    B. Install one (1) Cap (RH) into the forwardmost cap location on (RH) Side Step with the beveled edge facing towards the top and the notch facing forward as shown. Make sure there is an audible ‘click’ from cap to confirm correct installation.
    C. Repeat steps 1 through 12 on the driver’s side to install the (LH) Side Step.

  2. 50/50 Mix Of Isopropyl Alcohol & Water and Clean Cloth

A. Open driver’s door.
B. Clean the driver’s side lower door jam area below the door striker using 50/50 mix of Isopropyl alcohol (70%) & water and a clean cloth then allow to dry thoroughly.
C. Adhere one (1) provided Warning Label on the lower door jam area below the door striker as shown.

Ensure hands are clean.

  1. 50/50 Mix Of Isopropyl Alcohol (70%) & Water and Clean Cloth

A. Open left rear door.
B. Clean the door jam area below the door striker using 50/50 mix of Isopropyl alcohol (70%) & water and a clean cloth then allow to dry thoroughly.
C. Adhere one (1) provided Warning Label on the door jam area below the door striker as shown.
Ensure hands are clean.

  1. 50/50 Mix Of Isopropyl Alcohol (70%) & Water and Clean Cloth

A. Clean the center of the vertical aluminum surface on the driver’s side Side Step using 50/50 mix of Isopropyl alcohol (70%) & water and a clean cloth then allow to dry thoroughly.
B. Adhere one (1) provided Side Step Label in the center of the side step on the vertical aluminum surface as shown.
C. Repeat steps 13 through 15 on the passenger’s side.

Ensure hands are clean.

  1. A. Place the provided Customer Care Card into the vehicle’s glove box.
    B. Installation is complete.
