of your new product. You have chosen a high quality product. The instructions for use are part of the product. They contain important information concerning safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all of the safety information and instructions for use. Only use the product as described and for the specified applications. If
you pass the product on to anyone else, please ensure that you also pass on all the documentation with it.

Intended use

  • This Smart Tag Finder (hereinafter called “product”) is an Information Technology device.
  • This product is designed to act as a key finder, which helps to locate personal objects (e.g. keys, bags, etc.).
  • Any other use is considered improper. Any claims resulting from improper use or due to unauthorised modification of the product will be considered unwarranted. Any such use is at your own risk.

Scope of delivery

DANGER! Risk of suffocation!
Never leave children unsupervised with the product, its accessories and the packaging materials.
The packaging materials pose a suffocation hazard. Children frequently underestimate the dangers. The packaging materials are not toys.

DANGER! Choking hazard due to small parts! This product contains small parts that can cause choking if swallowed.

  • This product can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the product in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Children shall not play with the product.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  • The product is not a toy.

NOTICE!
Risk of property damage

  • This product does not contain any parts which can be serviced by the user.
  • Do not place burning candles or other open fire on or next to the product.
  • Sudden temperature changes may cause condensation inside the product. In this case, allow the product to acclimate for some time before using it again to prevent short circuits!
  • Check the product for damage before use. Never use a damaged product.
  • If smoke or unusual sounds are observed, immediately remove the battery from the product. Have the product checked by a specialist before using it again.
  • Do not operate the product near heat sources, e.g. radiators or other devices emitting heat!

WARNING!

  • It is necessary to repair the product if it has been damaged in any way, for example, if the housing is damaged or if liquid or objects have penetrated the product. Repair work is also required if the product is not working properly or has been dropped.
  • In such cases, the product should not be used until it has been inspected by authorised service personnel. Only have the product repaired by qualified personnel.

WARNING – Radio interference

  • Switch the product off on airplanes, in hospitals, service rooms (e.g. boiler room, electric supply room), or near medical electronic systems.
  • The wireless signals transmitted could impact the functionality of sensitive electronics.
  • Keep the product at least 20 cm from pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators, as the electromagnetic radiation may impair the functionality of pacemakers.
  • The radio waves transmitted could cause interference in hearing aids.
  • Do not place the product near flammable gases or potentially explosives areas (e.g. paint shops) with the wireless components on, as the radio waves emitted can cause explosions and fire.
  • The range of the radio waves varies by environmental conditions.
  • In the event of wireless data transmission, unauthorised third parties receiving the data cannot be excluded. The OWIM GmbH & Co KG is not responsible for interference with radios or televisions due to unauthorised modification of the product.
  • The OWIM GmbH & Co KG further assumes no liability for using or replacing cables and products not distributed by OWIM.
  • The user of the product is fully responsible for correcting interference caused by unauthorised modification of the product (refer to previous 2 paragraphs).

Operating system updates
In order to keep the product up to date, it is necessary that you always keep the operating system of your smartphone and/or tablet PC up to date. Update the operating system regularly.

Safety instructions for batteries/rechargeable batteries

DANGER TO LIFE! Keep batteries/ rechargeable batteries out of reach of children. If accidentally swallowed seek immediate medical attention.

DANGER OF EXPLOSION! Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Do not short-circuit batteries/rechargeable batteries and/or open them. Overheating, fire or bursting can be the result.

  • Never throw batteries/rechargeable batteries into fire or water.
  • Do not exert mechanical loads to batteries/rechargeable batteries.

Risk of leakage of batteries/rechargeable batteries

  • Avoid extreme environmental conditions and temperatures, which could affect batteries/rechargeable batteries, e.g. radiators/direct sunlight.
  • If batteries/rechargeable batteries have leaked, avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes with the chemicals! Flush immediately the affected areas with fresh water and seek medical attention!

WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES!
Leaked or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries can cause burns on contact with the skin. Wear suitable protective gloves at all times if such an event occurs.

  • In the event of a leakage of batteries/rechargeable batteries, immediately remove them from the product to prevent damage.
  • Remove batteries/rechargeable batteries if the product will not be used for a longer period.

Risk of damage of the product

  • Only use the specified type of battery/rechargeable battery!
  • Insert batteries/rechargeable batteries according to polarity marks (+) and (–) on the battery/rechargeable battery and the product.
  • Use a dry lint-free cloth or cotton swab to clean the contacts on the battery/rechargeable battery and in the battery compartment before inserting!
  • Remove exhausted batteries/rechargeable batteries from the product immediately.

  • Swallowing can lead to chemical burns, perforation of soft tissue, and death . Severe burns can occur within 2 hours of ingestion . Seek medical attention immediately .

No obvious symptoms

  • Unfortunately, it is not obvious when a button or coin battery is stuck in a child’s esophagus (food pipe). There are no specific symptoms associated with this. The child might
    • cough, gag or drool a lot;
    • appear to have a stomach upset or a virus;
    • be sick;
    • point to their throat or stomach;
    • have a pain in their abdomen, chest or throat;
    • be tired or lethargic;
    • be quieter or more clingy than usual or otherwise “not themselves”;
    • lose their appetite or have a reduced appetite, and
    • not want to eat solid food/be unable to eat solid food.
  • These sort of symptoms vary or fluctuate, with the pain increasing and then subsiding.
  • A specific symptom to button and coin battery ingestion is vomiting fresh (bright red) blood. If the child does this, seek immediate medical help.
  • The lack of clear symptoms is why it is important to be vigilant with “flat” or spare button or coin batteries in the home and the products that contain them.

WARNING! Do not ingest the battery, chemical burn hazard.

  • This product contains a coin/button cell battery. If a coin/button cell battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death.=
    Keep new and used batteries away from children.

  • If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children.

  • If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.

Before first use

Unpacking the product

  1. Take the product out of the packaging and remove all packaging materials and plastic wrappings.
  2. Check to make sure that all listed parts are included (see “Scope of delivery”).
  3. Check whether the product and all parts are in good condition, if any damage or defect is detected, do not use the product, but follow the procedure described in chapter “Warranty”.

Operation

Pairing product and mobile device

INFO: To use the product, you need the Find My app. This app is pre- installed on Apple’s mobile devices. If you have deleted the app previously, you can download it again from the App Store.
INFO: An insulating strip [8] protects the battery [5] from being discharged.

  1. Pull the insulating strip [8] out of the product (Fig. B).

  2. Activate the Bluetooth function on your mobile device.

  3. Enable your mobile device’s access to the Internet.

  4. Activate location services on your mobile device (Settings > Privacy > Location Services).

  5. Under Location Services, scroll down and tap on Find My.

  6. Select While using the app.

  7. Activate Precision Location.

  8. Open the Find My app.

  9. Tap on Devices.

  10. Tap on +.

  11. Tap on Add other item +.

  12. Select SSTF-A1.

  13. Tap on Connect.

  14. Optional: Select another name for the product.

  15. Tap on Continue.

  16. Select an emoji. This emoji will be used to represent the product’s location on the map.

  17. To register the product under your
    Apple ID account, tap on Agree.

  18. Tap on Finish. The product is now visible on the map in the Find My app.

INFO: If you do not complete the pairing process within 10 minutes, the buzzer [3] emits 4 beeps to indicate that the product enters standby mode. In such case, remove and reinsert the battery (see “Replacing the battery”). Restart the pairing process.

Replacing the battery (Fig. C)

  1. Place the product on a flat, firm surface with the bottom cover [4] facing upwards.
  2. Insert the tip of the tool [7] into the gap [2].
  3. Rotate the tool [7] by 90° to separate the top cover [1] from the bottom cover [4].
  4. Remove the old battery [5] from the battery compartment [6].
  5. Insert a new battery into the battery compartment [6]. The positive pole (+)  on the battery must face upwards.
  6. Align the gaps [2] of the top cover [1] and the bottom cover [4] and close the product.

INFO: If the product has already been paired before and you insert a new battery, the product will automatically restart the pairing process. The buzzer [3] emits 2 beeps to indicate that the product is successfully paired.

Resetting the product

  1. To reset the product to factory default settings, remove and reinsert the battery [5] thrice within 10 seconds.

To deactivate the product, remove the battery [5].

Cleaning and care

Cleaning

  • Do not allow any water or other liquids to enter the product’s interior.
  • Do not use abrasives, harsh cleaning solutions or hard brushes for cleaning.
  1. Clean the product and its accessories with a slightly moistened cloth.
  2. Let all parts dry afterwards.

Storage
Store the product in a dry, secure location away from children.

Disposal
INFO: Before passing on, disposing of or returning the product to the manufacturer, delete the product from your Find My app.
To do so, open the Find My app, tap on Items and delete the product.

Packaging
The packaging is made of environmentally friendly materials, which may be disposed of through your local recycling facilities.

Observe the marking of the packaging materials for waste separation, which are marked with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with following meaning: 1–7: plastics/20–22: paper and fiberboard/80–98: composite materials.

The adjacent symbol of a crossed out dustbin on wheels indicates this product is subject to directive 2012/19/EU. Batteries/accumulators:

Environmental damage through incorrect disposal of the batteries/accumulators!

Never dispose of batteries in your household waste. They may contain toxic heavy metals and are subject to hazardous waste regulations. The chemical symbols of the heavy metals are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead. Therefore dispose of used batteries through your local collection site.

Warranty

  • The product has been manufactured to strict quality guidelines and meticulously examined before delivery. In the event
    of material or manufacturing defects you have legal rights against the retailer of this product. Your legal rights are not limited in any way by our warranty detailed below.

  • The warranty for this product is 3 years from the date of purchase. The warranty period begins on the date of purchase. Keep the original sales receipt in a safe location as this document is required as proof of purchase.

  • Any damage or defects already present at the time of purchase must be reported without delay after unpacking the product.

  • Should the product show any fault in materials or manufacture within 3 years from the date of purchase, we will repair or replace it – at our choice – free of charge to you. The warranty period is not extended as a result of a claim being granted. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts.

  • This warranty becomes void if the product has been damaged, or used or maintained improperly.

  • The warranty covers material or manufacturing defects.

  • This warranty does not cover product parts subject to normal wear and tear, thus considered consumables (e.g. batteries, rechargeable batteries, tubes, cartridges), nor damage to fragile parts, e.g. switches or glass parts.
