General safety instructions

DANGER: Risk of burns

  • Never touch the hotplates (1, 3) either during or immediately after use
  • Clean the hotplate only after it has completely cooled down. After use, the surface of the hotplates (1, 3) will retain some residual heat.

DANGER: Risk of electric shock

  • If the power cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service or a similarly qualified person, in order to avoid any possible danger.
  • Never open the housing of the hotplate as there are no components inside which require maintenance. Opening the housing can expose you to the risk of electric shock.
  • If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or strange smells, switch the hotplate off immediately and disconnect the mains plug from the socket. If this occurs, the hotplate should not be used before it has been inspected by authorized service personnel. Never inhale smoke from a possible device fire. If you do inadvertently inhale smoke, seek medical attention. Smoke inhalation can be damaging to your health.
  • Make sure that the power cable (2) cannot be damaged by sharp edges or hot spots. After use, always wind the power cable (2) back around the cable wrap underneath the hotplate.
  • Make sure that the power cable (2) cannot become crushed or squashed.
  • The device must always be disconnected from the mains when left unsupervised and before assembly, disassembly or cleaning.
  • When disconnecting the power cable from the mains socket, always pull on the mains plug and never on the power cable (2) itself.
  • Never use the device in the vicinity of the bathtub / shower or over a sink filled with water. Proximity to water poses a risk even if the device is switched off.
  • If you notice visible damage to the hotplate or the power cable (2), switch the hotplate off immediately, disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket and contact our hotline.
  • Only connect the hotplate to a properly installed, easily accessible wall outlet whose mains voltage corresponds to that on the rating plate. No action is required by the user to set the product to 50 or 60 Hz. The product automatically adjusts to 50 and to 60 Hz. After connecting the device, the mains socket must still be easily accessible so that you can remove the mains plug quickly in the event of an emergency.

DANGER of fire

  • Never leave the device unattended when in use.
  • Maintain a clearance of at least 50 cm around the hotplate to flammable and combustible materials. There is a risk of fire.
  • Disconnect the hotplate from the mains power if you do not intend to use it for an extended period. The hotplate is live unless you disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket.

WARNING about property damage

  • Never place any objects on the hotplate.
  • Only operate the hotplate on an even, stable and heat-resistant surface.
  • Never leave the hotplate unattended when in use.
  • Disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket when the hotplate is unattended.

Before you start

Remove the hotplate and all accessories from the packaging and check that the package contents are complete. Remove any protective films. Keep the packaging material away from children and dispose of appropriately.

Switching on/off
  • Switch the ON/OFF switch (4) on the side of the device to the “I” position to switch on the dual hotplate.
  • Switch the ON/OFF switch (4) on the side of the device to the “0” position to switch off the dual hotplate.
  • To switch the hotplates (1, 3) on, twist the relevant thermostat (5, 8) clockwise away from the “MIN” position. The “MAX” position on each of the thermostats (5, 8) indicates the top heat level. The relevant status indicator (6, 7) is on.
  • To switch the hotplates (1, 3) off, twist the relevant thermostat (5, 8) anticlockwise back to the “MIN” position. The relevant status indicator (6, 7) goes out.
Setup/First use
  • Place the hotplate on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface.
  • Connect the power plug to an easily accessible mains socket.
  • In order to remove any production residues, operate the hotplate for approx. 3 minutes at the maximum temperature with no pan on it before using it for the first time. To do this, twist both thermostats (5, 8) clockwise to the “MAX” position (maximum heat). Occasionally, smoke can develop. If this happens, ensure there is sufficient ventilation by opening a window if necessary
  • After approx. 3 minutes, switch both hotplates (1, 3) off by twisting both thermostats (5, 8) anticlockwise back to the “MIN” position. Allow the hotplates (1, 3) to cool.
  • The dual hotplate is now ready for use.
How the status indicators (6, 7) work
  • The status indicators (6, 7) indicate when the relevant hotplates (1, 3) are being heated.
  • As soon as the hotplate (1, 3) reaches the selected heating level (1/2/3/4/5/MAX), the status indicator (6, 7) goes out.
  • The status indicator (6, 7) comes back on again as soon as the temperature below the selected level (1/2/3/4/5/MAX) and the heating is switched back on. So it is possible for the status indicators (6, 7) to switch on and off several times while you are cooking. This is not a malfunction.

Getting started

Energy-efficient cooking
  • Use pans with the same diameter as the hotplate you are using (1, 3):
    Hotplate (1, 3)| Diameter
    ---|---
    Large hotplate (1)| 18.5 cm
    Small hotplate (3)| 15.5 cm

If pans have a smaller diameter than that of the hotplate you are using (1, 3), energy is lost.

  • Use quality pans with a thick base that sit evenly on the hotplate (1, 3). On the one hand, this allows the heat to be conducted well from the hotplate (1, 3) to the pan, on the other hand, the heat is retained well in the base.
  • Do not use pans with warped or uneven bases.
  • A quality pan with a good base stores the heat well, meaning in many cases the hotplate (1, 3) can be switched off before the end of the cooking time. The residual heat of the hotplate (1, 3) and pan base is generally enough to finish cooking the dish.
Usage
  • Place the pan and its contents on the selected hotplate (1, 3).
  • Switch the hotplate (1, 3) on by twisting the thermostat (5, 8) and select a heat setting between
“1” and “MAX”. The higher the heat setting, the faster and hotter the food is heated.

Status Indicator (6, 7) Status

Off The set temperature has been reached.
  • The relevant status indicator (6, 7) is on during the heating-up phase.
The status indicator (6, 7) may switch on and off when in use. This is not a malfunction, it is an indication that heating to the hotplate is switched on and off in order to maintain the selected temperature.

  • Once cooking is complete, switch the hotplate (1, 3) off by turning the thermostat (5, 8) to the “MIN” position.
When the hotplate is to be left unused for a long period of time, unplug the mains plug from the mains socket.

Cleaning

DANGER: Risk of burns
Wait until the hotplate is completely cool before cleaning it. Otherwise you could get burnt.

DANGER: Risk of electric shock
Remove the mains plug from the socket before cleaning. This could result in an electric shock.
Do not pour or spray any liquids onto the hotplate and do not immerse it in water or other liquids. This could cause short circuits which could result in electric shocks or fires.

WARNING about property damage
Do not use abrasive or astringent detergents or tools which could scratch the surface (e.g. metal sponges). Otherwise, the hotplate could get damaged.

  • Wipe the hotplate with a damp cloth. Put a mild detergent on the cloth to remove stubborn dirt and grease.
  • Then remove any residual detergent with a damp cloth.
  • After cleaning, allow the hotplate to dry completely before using it again.
Storage when not in use

If the hotplate is not to be used for an extended period, store it in a safe, clean and dry place.

  • Allow the hotplate to cool completely before storing.

  • Wind the power cable (2) around the cable winder on the bottom of the device, as shown in the diagram below. You can fit the power cable (2) plug into the holder provided (arrow).

  • Store the hotplate in a safe place away from dust.
