Information about these operating instructions

Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance. You have selected a high-quality product. The operating instructions are part of this product. They contain important information about safety, usage and disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the range of applications specified. Please also pass these operating instructions on to any future owner.

Proper use

This appliance is designed for squeezing citrus fruits, such as oranges, lemons or grapefruits. It may only be used to process foods. This appliance is not intended for use in commercial or industrial environments. It is intended only for use in domestic households. Any other use or use beyond the specifications is considered to be improper use. Claims of any kind for damage resulting from misuse, incompetent repairs, unauthorised modification or the use of unauthorised spare parts will not be accepted. The operator bears sole liability.

Safety information

To ensure safe operation of the appliance, follow the safety guidelines set out below

RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK

  • The appliance should only be connected to correctly installed and earthed mains power sockets. Ensure that the rating for your local power supply corresponds with the details on the rating plate of the appliance.
  • Prior to use, check the appliance for visible external damage. Do not operate a appliance that has been damaged or dropped.
  • To avoid potential risks, damaged mains cables should be replaced by the manufacturer, their customer service department or a similarly qualified person.
  • All repairs must be carried out by authorised specialist companies or by the Customer Service department. Improper repairs may put the user at risk. It will also invalidate any warranty claims.
  • Do not expose the appliance to rain, and never use it in a humid or wet environment.
  • Protect the base, the mains cable and plug from damp, drips and splashes. Never submerge the base or the mains cable in water or other liquids!
  • Always take hold of the mains plug when disconnecting the cable from the mains power socket. Do not pull on the cable itself!
  • Do not place the appliance itself, furniture items or similar objects on the mains cable and take steps to ensure it cannot become jammed or trapped in any way.
  • Unplug the mains socket from the wall outlet before assembling, disassembling, when not in use and before cleaning.

RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK

  • Before changing any accessories or additional parts that move during operation, the appliance must be switched off and disconnected from the mains power.

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY

  • This appliance may be used by children of the age of 8 years or more and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are being supervised or have been instructed with regard to the safe use of the appliance and have understood the potential risks. Children younger than 8 years of age must be kept away from the appliance and the mains cable.

  • Do not allow children to play with the appliance.

  • Cleaning and user maintenance tasks must not be carried out by children unless they are aged 8 years or more and are supervised.

  • Install the appliance as close as possible to an electrical power socket. Ensure that the plug on the mains cable is easily accessible in case of emergency, and that there is no risk of tripping over the cable.

  • Defective components must always be replaced with genuine replacement parts. Compliance with safety requirements can only be guaranteed if original replacement parts are used.

  • Ensure that the appliance is completely assembled before using it for the first time.

  • Do not touch the pressing cone while it is turning and do not hold any items of cutlery or other objects against rotating
    components. Keep your clothing and hair away from all rotating parts.

  • There is a risk of injury if the appliance is misused! Use only as instructed.

ATTENTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE

  • Do not operate this appliance using an external time switch or a separate remote control system.
  • Ensure that the appliance, the mains cable and the plug do not come into contact with heat sources such as hotplates or naked flames.
  • Do not use the appliance outdoors.
  • Operate the appliance only with the original accessories supplied.
  • Before use, ensure that there are no foreign bodies in the sieve or in the appliance.
  • Stop the juicing process immediately if the pressing cone is straining or doesn’t turn at all. Pull out the plug and check the appliance for jammed fruit pulp or foreign bodies.
  • Make sure that you do not block or overload the motor. Do not press down excessively hard on the pressing cone.
  • Do not attempt to turn the pressing cone or the drive shaft manually.
  • Place the appliance on a stable, level surface.
  • Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaners, as these may irreparably damage the surface of the appliance.

NOTE

  • No user action is required to switch the product between 50 and 60 Hz. The product adapts automatically to either 50 or 60 Hz.

Operation

  • Unplug the mains socket from the wall outlet before assembling, disassembling and when not in use.
  • Do not touch the pressing cone 2/3 while it is turning and do not hold any items of cutlery or other objects against rotating components. Keep your clothing and hair away from all rotating parts.

Assembling the appliance

  • Before first use, clean all parts of the appliance as described in the section “Cleaning”.
  • If necessary, unwind the connecting cable from the cable retainer w.
  • Place the base q on a dry and level surface.
  • Assemble the sieve attachment 4/5. To do this, place the two parts on top of each other in such a way that the selector switch 6 juts through the corresponding opening of the upper part 4. Push the two sections together until they click together
  • Turn the sieve attachment 4/5 back over and push the small pressing cone 3 into the sieve attachment 4/5 until it audibly clicks into place.
  • If you want to process larger citrus fruits like oranges or grapefruits, use the large pressing cone 2. Place it onto the small pressing cone 3 so that the tabs on the small pressing cone 3 lie in the notches of the large pressing cone 2. Push in the large pressing cone 2 firmly until it clicks into place.
  • Place the sieve attachment 4/5 together with the pressing cone 2/3 onto the juice container 7 so that the part with the selector switch 6 lies over the handle 8 of the juice container 7.
  • Place the cover 9 onto the drive shaft 0 and press it firmly into place.
  • Place the juice container 7 onto the base q and turn the juice container 7 in the direction of the arrow until it clicks into place.
  • Insert the plug into a mains power socket. The appliance is now ready for use.

Juicing

ATTENTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE

  • Stop the juicing process immediately if the pressing cone 2/3 is labouring or does not turn at all. Pull out the plug and check the appliance for jammed fruit pulp or foreign bodies.
  • Make sure that you do not block or overload the motor. Do not press down excessively hard on the pressing cone 2/3.

The appliance has been cleaned and assembled:

  • Use the selector switch 6 to set the pulp content of the juice on a scale from fine (small pieces) to coarse (larger pieces).
  • Remove the lid 1 if necessary.
  • Press the citrus fruit halves with the flat side downwards onto the pressing cone 2/3 and apply a light pressure. The pressing cone 2/3 starts to rotate and the citrus fruit is squeezed out.
  • To stop the appliance, lift the citrus fruit half from the pressing cone 2/3.

NOTE

  • Start and stop the appliance several times. The pressing cone 2/3 changes direction when the appliance is started and stopped repeatedly, which leads to a better juice yield.
  • Empty the juice container 7 as soon as it reaches the 800 ml mark. To do this, pull out the mains plug, turn the juice container 7 anticlockwise and lift it off the base q.
  • Clean the appliance as soon as possible so that the fruit pulp does not dry on and make cleaning the appliance more difficult.

Disassembling the appliance

Disassemble the appliance before cleaning:

  • Remove the lid 1.
  • If necessary, remove the large pressing cone 2 from the small pressing cone 3 and then remove the small press cone 3 from the sieve attachment 4/5.
  • Remove the sieve attachment 4/5 from the juice container 7. Then separate the upper part 4 and the lower part 5 by pulling them apart. If they are difficult to separate, press lightly against selector switch 6.
  • If you have not already done so, turn the juice container 7 anticlockwise and lift it off the base q.

Cleaning

RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK

  • Before cleaning the appliance, pull out the plug from the mains power socket.
  • Never clean the base q, the mains cable and plug under running water and never immerse these parts in water or any other liquids.

ATTENTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE

  • Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaners, as these may damage the surface of the appliance.
  • Clean the lid 1, the pressing cone 2/3, the sieve attachment 4/5, the juice container 7 and the cover of the drive shaft 9 in a mild soap solution

NOTE

  • The lid 1, the pressing cone 2/3, the sieve attachment 4/5 and the juice container 7 can also be cleaned in the dishwasher.
  • Water may collect in the handle 8 during cleaning. If this happens, insert a narrow, blunt object into the opening at the bottom of the handle 8 and remove the handle cover for cleaning. Afterwards, leave it to dry and reattach it.

Storage

  • Wind the mains cable around the cable retainer w and secure the end of the cable with the cable clamp.
  • Place the lid 1 back on the appliance to prevent dust accumulation.
  • Store the cleaned appliance in a dry place away from direct sunlight.

Disposal

Disposal of the appliance

The adjacent symbol of a crossed-out dustbin means that this appliance is subject to Directive 2012/19/EU. This directive states that this appliance may not be disposed of in the normal household waste at the end of its useful life, but must be taken to specially set-up collection locations, recycling depots or disposal companies

The disposal is free of charge for the user. Protect the environment and dispose of this appliance properly.

Your local community or municipal authorities can provide information on how to dispose of the worn-out product

The product and its packaging are recyclable. They are subject to an extended manufacturer responsibility and will be collected separately.

Disposal of the packaging

The packaging protects the appliance from damage during transport. The packaging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and ease of disposal, and are therefore recyclable. Returning the packaging into the material cycle conserves raw materials and reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispose of packaging materials that are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations. Note the labelling on the packaging and separate the packaging material components for disposal if necessary. The packaging material is labelled with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings: 1–7: plastics, 20–22: paper and cardboard, 80–98: composites

Dear Customer, This appliance has a 3-year warranty valid from the date of purchase. If this product has any faults, you, the buyer, have certain statutory rights. Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by the warranty described below

Warranty conditions
The warranty period starts on the date of purchase. Please keep your receipt in a safe place. This will be required as proof of purchase. If any material or manufacturing fault occurs within three years of the date of purchase of the product, we will either repair or replace the product for you or refund the purchase price (at our discretion). This warranty service requires that you present the defective appliance and the proof of purchase (receipt) within the three-year warranty period, along with a brief written description of the fault and of when it occurred. If the defect is covered by the warranty, your product will either be repaired or replaced by us. The repair or replacement of a product does not signify the beginning of a new warranty period.

Warranty period and statutory claims for defects
The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage and defects present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking. Repairs carried out after expiry of the warranty period shall be subject to a fee.

Scope of the warranty

This appliance has been manufactured in accordance with strict quality guidelines and inspected meticulously prior to delivery. The warranty covers material faults or production faults. The warranty does not extend to product parts subject to normal wear and tear or to fragile parts which could be considered as consumable parts such as switches, batteries or parts made of glass. The warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged, improperly used or improperly maintained. The directions in the operating instructions for the product regarding proper use of the product are to be strictly followed. Uses and actions that are discouraged in the operating instructions or which are warned against must be avoided. This product is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes. The warranty shall be deemed void in cases of misuse or improper handling, use of force and modifications / repairs which have not been carried out by one of our authorised Service centres.

Warranty claim procedure

To ensure quick processing of your case, please observe the following instructions:

  • Please have the till receipt and the item number (IAN) 498415_2204 available as proof of purchase.
  • You will find the item number on the type plate on the product, an engraving on the product, on the front page of the operating instructions (below left) or on the sticker on the rear or bottom of the product.
  • If functional or other defects occur, please contact the service department listed either by telephone or by e-mail.
  • You can return a defective product to us free of charge to the service address that will be provided to you. Ensure that you enclose the proof of purchase (till receipt) and information about what the defect is and when it occurred.
