Before first using it, familiarise yourself with the way the ice cube maker works and read these operating instructions through carefully. Be careful to follow the safety instructions and only use the ice cube maker as described in the operating instructions and for the applications given.
Keep these operating instructions in a safe place. If you pass the ice cube maker on to someone else, make sure to give them all the relevant documents with it.

Intended use
This ice cube maker is a household device and used exclusively to make ice cubes from drinking water. It may not be used outdoors. The ice cube maker has not been designed for corporate or commercial applications. Use the ice cube maker in domestic environments for private applications only. Any other use does not correspond to the intended use. This ice cube maker fulfils all relevant standards and directives relating to CE Conformity. Any modifications to the ice cube maker other than changes recommended by the manufacturer may result in these standards no longer being met. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any damage or malfunctions resulting from such modifications. Only use accessories supplied with the device by the manufacturer.

• This ice cube maker may be used by children older than 8 years as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or those persons who have lack of knowledge or experience, as long as they are supervised or they have received instructions regarding the proper use of the ice cube maker and they understand the associated risks.
• Do not allow children to play with the ice cube maker.
• The product must not be cleaned or maintained by unsupervised children.

DANGER! Packaging material is not a toy. Do not allow children to play with plastic bags. There is a risk of suffocation.
Keep the ice cube maker out of the reach of children.

General safety instructions

DANGER: Risk of electric shock

• The ice cube maker should only be used in dry, indoor areas.
• The power cable (10) must not be damaged. Never replace a damaged power cable (10), instead contact our hotline. There is a risk of electric shock in the case of a damaged power cable (10).
• If the power cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service or a similarly qualified person, in order to avoid any possible danger.
• Never open the housing of the ice cube maker as there are no components inside which require maintenance. Opening the housing can expose you to the risk of electric shock.
• If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or strange smells, switch the ice cube maker off immediately and disconnect the mains plug from the socket. If this occurs, the ice cube maker should not be used before it has been inspected by authorised service personnel. Never inhale smoke from a possible device fire. If you do inadvertently inhale smoke, seek medical attention. Smoke inhalation can be damaging to your health.
• Make sure that the power cable (10) cannot be damaged by sharp edges or hot spots.
• Make sure that the power cable (10) cannot become crushed or squashed.
• The ice cube maker must always be disconnected from the mains when left unsupervised and before assembly, disassembly or cleaning.
• When disconnecting the power cable from the mains socket, always pull on the mains plug and never on the power cable (10) itself.
• If you notice visible damage to the ice cube maker or the power cable (10), switch the ice cube maker off immediately, disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket and contact our hotline.
• In order to completely disconnect the device from the mains, the power plug must be pulled out from the mains socket. Therefore, only connect the ice cube maker to a properly installed mains socket which is easy to access and for which the mains voltage corresponds to that stated on the rating plate. After connecting the device, the mains socket must still be easily accessible so that you can remove the mains plug quickly in the event of an emergency.
• Do not immerse the ice cube maker in water or any other liquids. If liquids have entered the ice cube maker, disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket immediately and contact customer service.

DANGER: Risk of fire

• This product contains a small amount of isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, this is a natural, environmentally-friendly gas which is flammable. In the event of a leak, disconnect the mains plug and avoid naked flames and ignition sources. Ventilate the room the ice cube maker is in and contact our hotline.
• Do not store explosive materials such as aerosol containers with flammable propellants in the device.
• Make sure there is nothing obstructing the ventilation grilles (9, 11) in the device housing. Set the ice maker up so that there is nothing blocking the ventilation grills (9, 11) or the fan outlet (7). The device needs clearance of around 20 cm all round.
• Do not use an extension cable to operate the ice cube maker.
• The device does not require constant supervision when in use, but do check on it regularly.

WARNING! Risk of injury

• There is a risk of choking when enjoying drinks with ice cubes. Risk of suffocation!
• Only use drinking water in the ice cube machine, never use other liquids.
• To prevent mould forming, never leave water in the water reservoir (13) for longer than 24 hours. Drain old water and top up again.
• Do not store food in the ice cube maker.
• Do not fill the water reservoir (13) with hot water.
• Only use the accessories supplied.
• Never turn the ice cube maker upside down when in transport.
• After transporting the ice cube maker, leave it at least 2 hours to settle before use.

CAUTION! Risk of damage to property

• Never attempt to speed up the defrosting process by using agents not recommended by the manufacturer.
• The refrigerant circuit on the ice cube maker must not be damaged.

Before you start

• Remove the SEMK 105 B2 ice cube maker and all accessories from the packaging and check that the package contents are complete. Remove any protective films.
• Keep the packaging material away from children and dispose of appropriately.

Getting started

Before making ice cubes to use for the first time, clean all parts of the ice cube maker to remove any production residues. Proceed as described in the section on “Maintenance/cleaning”.

CAUTION! Risk of damage to property

• After transporting the ice cube maker, leave it at least 2 hours to settle before use.
• The ambient temperature should be around 10°C to 43°C when in use.

Then plug the mains plug into a mains socket which meets the requirements. The “ICE MAKING” LED (3) flashes green.
The ice cube maker is now in standby mode and is ready to use.

Topping up with drinking water

• Always use fresh drinking water! Never reuse water from defrosted ice cubes!

• The temperature of the drinking water should not exceed 25°C.

• Make sure that the drain opening (12) on the water reservoir (13) is sealed with the stopper.

• Open the lid (1) and remove the ice cube basket (14).

• Fill the water reservoir (13) with fresh drinking water. Do not fill beyond the MAX mark.

• Replace the ice cube basket (14) and close the lid (1).

• Please note that, contrary to what is shown in the diagram above, the MAX marking is merely embossed into the material of the device and cannot be shown in black for food safety reasons.

Starting to make ice cubes

• The first time you make ice cubes, it may take a little longer than set out below as the device is not already cold.
• Because of the temperature of the water and the ambient temperature, it takes three ice-making cycles to produce the largest ice cubes.
• The production time is a direct function of the water temperature and the ambient temperature.

Making large ice cubes

The default setting is to produce large ice cubes.
After each production cycle, there is the option to change the ice cube size by pressing and holding the “POWER” button (6) for approx. 3 seconds. The mode selected is displayed on the control panel (2) as follows:
The “ICE MAKING” LED (3) lights green: The device produces large ice cubes. The “ICE MAKING” LED (3) lights yellow: The device produces small ice cubes.

• Press the “POWER” button (6) briefly to start making large ice cubes. The “ICE MAKING” LED (3) flashes green.

• Depending on the ambient temperature, ice cubes are dropped into the ice cube basket (14) after 7 to 15 minutes.

• You can remove the ice cubes at any time. Open the lid (1), remove the ice cubes you want using the ice cube scoop (8) and close the lid (1) again.

• When the “ICE FULL” LED (5) lights red, the ice cube basket (14) is full. Ice cube making is paused. Once you have removed sufficient ice cubes, the device resumes production.
  Occasionally, the ice cubes can stack up, block the light barrier and give an erroneous signal that the ice cube basket (14) is full. If this happens, use the ice cube scoop (8) to distribute the ice cubes evenly around the ice cube basket (14). Ice-making resumes automatically once the light barrier is clear.

• If the “ADD WATER” LED (4) lights red, there is too little water in the water reservoir (13). Ice cube making is stopped.

• Open the lid (1), remove the ice cube basket (14) and top the water reservoir (13) up with fresh drinking water if you wish to continue making ice cubes.

• Replace the ice cube basket (14), close the lid (1) and press the “POWER” button (6) briefly to resume.

Making small ice cubes

If you press and hold the “POWER ” button (6) for approx. 3 seconds while making large ice cubes, the “ICE MAKING” LED (3) lights up in yellow. On its next cycle, the machine makes small ice cubes.

Stop making ice cubes
Replace the water in the water reservoir (13) after 24 hours at the latest to prevent mould forming.

• Press the “POWER” button (6) briefly to stop making ice. The “ICE MAKING” LED (3) flashes green.
• Remove the ice cubes from the ice cube basket (14) and disconnect the plug from the mains socket.
• Allow the ice cube maker to defrost.
• Then check whether there is water in the back part of the machine. If so, tip the machine forwards slightly so the water can flow into the water reservoir (13).
• Now drain the water out of the water reservoir (13). Pull the device forward over the edge of the work surface so that the drain opening (12) is easy to reach but the device is still stable.
• Hold a suitably sized container under the drain opening (12) and remove the stopper.
• Once all the water has drained out, close the drain opening (12) again with the stopper.

Maintenance/cleaning

DANGER : Risk of electric shock
Always remove the power plug from the mains socket before cleaning. This could result in an electric shock.
Do not pour or spray any liquids onto the ice cube maker and do not immerse it in water or other liquids. This could cause short circuits which could result in electric shocks or fires.
WARNING
Empty the water reservoir (13) after a maximum of 24 hours to prevent mould forming.

WARNING about property damage

• Do not use abrasive or astringent detergents or tools which could scratch the surface (e.g. metal sponges). Otherwise, the ice cube maker could get damaged.
• Do not use boiling water for cleaning.
• Do not clean the metal rods at the back of the machine with a cloth or similar. Scratches would have a detrimental effect on the production results.
• Do not attempt to clean the ice cube maker and its accessories in the dishwasher, this would cause irreparable damage!

Activating the machine’s self-cleaning function:

• if the machine is still in use, follow the instructions in the section on “Stopping making ice cubes”.
• Insert the mains plug into a mains socket.
• Fill the machine with fresh water to the MAX mark, as described in the section on “Topping up with drinking water”.
• Press and hold the “POWER” button (6) for approx. 10 seconds. The machine starts the self-cleaning process, during which the “ICE MAKING” (3), “ADD WATER” (4) and “ICE FULL” (5) LEDs light up red or green in sequence. After approx. 15 minutes, the machine switches into standby mode and the “ICE MAKING” LED (3) flashes green.
• Remove the mains plug from the mains socket and drain the water out of the drain opening (12).
• Remove the ice cube basket (14) and clean the inside of the machine with a damp cloth. Do not clean the metal rods at the back of the machine with a cloth. This could damage them, which would have a detrimental effect on ice production.
• Put a little vinegar on the cloth to remove stubborn dirt and deposits. Then rinse the water reservoir (13) with clean water and allow it to run out through the drain opening (12). Then wipe out with a damp cloth.
• The ice cube basket (14) and the ice cube scoop (8) can be cleaned in warm water with mild detergent.
• Wipe the housing and the power cable (10) with a damp cloth. Put a little mild detergent on the cloth to remove stubborn dirt. Then wipe out with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residues. Make sure that the machine and power cable (10) are completely dry on the outside before using again.

Storage when not in use

If the ice cube maker is not to be used for an extended period, store it in a safe, clean and dry place.

• Empty the water reservoir (13) and clean thoroughly as described in the section on “Maintenance/cleaning”.
• Wind the power cable (10) onto the cable winder located on the underside of the ice maker.
• Leave the lid (1) open and allow everything to dry thoroughly before closing the lid (1) and storing the ice cube maker in a safe place away from dust.

Troubleshooting

If your ice cube maker does not work as normal, follow the instructions below to try to solve the problem. If working through the tips below does not fix the fault, please contact our hotline.

1. The ice cube maker does not work
   • The mains plug is not plugged in. Insert the mains plug into a mains socket.
   • The mains socket is defective. Test the ice cube maker in a different mains socket that you are certain is working.
2. The “ADD WATER” LED (4) is on
   • There is too little water in the water reservoir (13). Top up the water.
   • The water filter at the bottom of the water reservoir (13) is blocked. Remove any objects/deposits blocking the water filter. If necessary, you can pull the water filter straight upwards to clean it. Make sure you replace it before using the machine again. Follow the instructions on removing stubborn dirt and deposits in the section on “Maintenance/cleaning”.
3. The “ICE FULL” LED (5) is on
   • The ice cube basket (14) is full. Remove the ice cubes. Production resumes automatically.
   • The infrared sensors above the ice cube basket (14) are dirty and indicating that the ice cube basket (14) is full. Clean the infrared sensors with a soft cloth.
4. Both “ADD WATER” (4) and “ICE FULL” (5) LEDs are on
   • The ice cube bowl at the back of the machine is blocked. Check whether the blockage has been caused by an ice cube and, if so, remove it carefully. Restart the machine by disconnecting the mains plug from the mains socket and plugging it back in again.
5. No ice cubes made or ice cubes too small
   • The ambient temperature is too high, it should not exceed 43°C.
   • The water temperature is too high, it should be between 8°C and 25°C.

Dear Customer,
This device is sold with three years warranty from the date of purchase. In the event of product defects, you have legal rights towards the seller. These statutory rights are not restricted by our warranty as described below.

Warranty conditions
The warranty period commences upon the date of purchase. Please keep the original receipt in a safe place as it is required as proof of purchase. If any material or manufacturing faults occur within three years of purchase of this product, we will repair or replace the product free of charge as we deem appropriate.
Warranty period and legal warranty rights
The warranty period is not extended in the event of a warranty claim. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Any damage or defects discovered upon purchase must be reported immediately when the product has been unpacked. Any repairs required after the warranty period will be subject to charge.

Scope of warranty
The device was carefully manufactured in compliance with stringent quality guidelines and subjected to thorough testing before it left the works. The warranty applies to material and manufacturing faults.
