The kit includes: digital anemometer, pouch, PC software (DN30 only), user manual, and warranty.
Getting started
- Open the battery compartment cover and insert 3 AAA batteries. Close the cover.
- Press the Power button (9) to turn the device on or off.
Wind speed measurement
- When turned on, the VEL symbol will be displayed on the screen. If the VEL symbol disappears, press and hold the FUNC button (6) until it appears again.
- Hold the anemometer so that its fan is positioned against the airflow.
The screen will display the wind speed.
Airflow setting

To set the air channel area, press and hold:
- SET button (10) – for DN20;
- FUNC button (6) – for DN30.
The AREA symbol will appear on the screen and the data field will begin to flash.

Press the REC button (7) until the highlighted number shows the value you need.

Press the UNIT button (8) to move to the next number.

After setting the value, select the units you need using the REC button (7).

To complete the setup and return to the wind speed measurement mode, press:
- SET button (10) – for DN20;
- FUNC button (6) – for DN30.
The selected air channel area value will be automatically saved.
Air flow measurement
- When turned on, the VEL symbol will be displayed on the screen.
- Press the FUNC button (6). The saved air channel area value will appear on the screen.
- Press the FUNC button (6) again. The VEL symbol will appear on the screen again.
- Hold the anemometer so that its fan is positioned against the air flow.
The screen will display the wind speed.
To measure air flow, you must first determine the cross-sectional area of the air channel (see previous paragraph) and enter it intothe anemometer.
Data hold
To freeze the displayed values, press:
- Hold button (11) – for DN20;
- Hold/USB button (4) – for DN30.
The symbol will appear on the screen. Then the last recorded value will be displayed. To return to normal mode, press the aforementioned button again.
MIN/MAX/AVG function
Press the REC button (7) to display the maximum recorded wind speed. The MAX symbol will appear on the screen. Press the REC button (7) again to display the minimum recorded wind speed. The MIN symbol will appear on the screen. Press the REC button (7) again to display the average recorded wind speed. The AVG symbol will appear on the screen. To return to normal mode, hold the REC button (7) for 2–5 seconds.
Selecting the units of measurement
- Press the UNIT button (8) to select units (m/s, km/h, mph, ft/m, ft/s, knots) while measuring wind speed.
- Press the UNIT button (8) to select units (m3/min, m3/s, ft3/min) while measuring air flow.
- Press and hold the UNIT button (8) for 2–5 seconds to switch between °C and °F temperature units (DN30 only).
High wind speed mode
If the wind speed is very high and does not fit on the screen, the x10 symbol automatically appears. This symbol indicates that the actualwind speed is 10 times higher than that displayed on the screen.
Display of dew point temperature / wet bulb temperature (DN30 only)
To display the dew point temperature or wet bulb temperature, press the DP/WB button (5).
USB interface (DN30 only)
Press and hold the Hold/USB button (4) for 2–5 seconds to enable the USB function. The USB symbol will appear on the screen. To turn off\ the USB function, press and hold the Hold/USB button (4) again for 2–5 seconds. This device can transfer measurement data to a PC via a USB cable (not included). To use the USB function, install the Software for Anemometer program via the installation disc (included), connect the device to a PC and open the application. The application can save the measurement data of the sound level meter and export it in the .xls spreadsheet format as well as show the measurement logs in the form of a graph.
PC software (DN30 only)
In order to work with the device on a PC, you first need to install the software on your PC. It can be downloaded from the official Levenhuk website.
PC system requirements
- Operating system: Windows XP Professional SP3 x86 or higher.
- RAM: at least 4GB.
- Free storage space: at least 100MB.
The program uses files with the .Mdata extension to save measurement data.
- To create a new file, click the New button.
- To save a file, click the Save button
- To open a measurement data file saved in the PC memory, click the Open button.
- To export the measurement log in Excel spreadsheet format (.xls), click the ExPort button.
- To begin and end the process of measurement on the device connected to the PC use the Start and Stop buttons.
- To choose the connection port to which the device is connected to, use the Select ComPort field.
- The “Virtual Meter” tab on the working field of the program shows the measurement data online on the virtual display.
- The “Graphs” tab shows the graph with the changes of the wind speed value during the measurement session.
- The “Data Logging” tab shows the log of the measurement session.
Automatic shutdown
When you turn on the anemometer, the automatic shutdown function is activated by default. If there is no activity, the device will automatically turn off:
- after 10 minutes (DN20);
- after 15 minutes (DN30);
To disable this feature, before turning on the anemometer, press and hold:
- Hold button (11) – for DN20;
- Hold/USB button (4) – for DN30.
Without releasing this button, press the power button (9). After turning on
the device, release all buttons. The automatic shutdown function will be
disabled.
To make the automatic shutdown feature work again, restart the device. When
the automatic shutdown function is working, the icon is displayed on the
screen. When this function is disabled, the icon will not appear on the
screen.

Care and maintenance
Take the necessary precautions when using the device with children or others who have not read or who do not fully understand these\ instructions. Do not try to disassemble the device on your own for any reason. Do not use the device if it is damaged or does not operate properly. Replace the battery as soon as the low battery indicator lights up. Do not use solvent to clean the device. Store the device in dry\ cool place. Protect the device from sudden impact and excessive mechanical force. If a part of the device or battery is swallowed, seek\ medical attention immediately. Keep away from children.
Battery safety instructions
Always purchase the correct size and grade of battery most suitable for the intended use. Always replace the whole set of batteries at one time; taking care not to mix old and new ones, or batteries of different types. Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation. Make sure the batteries are installed correctly with regard to polarity (+ and –). Remove batteries from equipment that is not to be used for an extended period of time. Remove used batteries promptly. Never short-circuit batteries as this may lead to high temperatures, leakage, or explosion. Never heat batteries in order to revive them. Do not disassemble batteries. Remember to switch off devices after use. Keep batteries out of the reach of children, to avoid risk of ingestion, suffocation, or poisoning. Utilize used batteries as prescribed by your country’s laws.
