Product usage

Assembly

NOTE

  • Before assembling, we recommend that you lay out all the product parts next to the assembly area.
  • Never use excessive force during assembly or when tightening screws/bolts, as this may damage the product.
  • When assembling parts with multiple nuts or bolts, we recommend that you loosely insert them first, and then once that particular section of the barbecue is assembled, use light pressure to tighten all the hardware.
  • Only tighten all the screws once assembly is complete, as any material shrinkage may interfere with the final assembly.

Before first use

  • Clean the product before first use (→ CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE).
  • Always place the product on a firm, stable, flat and non-slip surface.

Using the barbecue
This barbecue can be used to cook meat, seafood, fish, and vegetables al fresco.

WARNING: RISK OF BURNS / CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING / FIRE

  • Never use the barbecue indoors or in an enclosed space, e.g. houses, tents, caravans, motor homes, or boats, as there is a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • The barbecue will become very hot. Do not touch any part of the barbecue while it is in use or cooling down. Always wear oven gloves when using the barbecue.
  • Keep the barbecue at least 1.5 meters away from any flammable objects, such as wooden fences or garden furniture, and at least 15 cm away from any walls.
  • Never move the barbecue while it is hot. Allow it to cool down completely before moving it.
  • Never use any kind of ignition fluid to start or restart a fire.
  • Do not use excessive oil or grease when barbecuing food. Too much oil or grease can produce larger-than-normal flames or even an out-of-control barbecue fire. If necessary, use a basting brush to apply a thin layer of oil or grease to food.
  • Do not use the barbecue if any of its components have not been correctly assembled.
  • Do not wear synthetic clothing, or clothes with loose or flowing sleeves when lighting or using the barbecue.
  • Do not use the barbecue when there is a strong wind.

Lighting the fuel

WARNING! RISK OF BURNS!

  • Only use non-hazardous fuels, such as solid BBQ igniters for lighting or re-lighting. Use only firelighters complying to EN1860-3.
  • Only use charcoal or NF EN 1860-2 standard charcoal briquettes, coco briquettes or vine wood.
  • Do not use methylated spirit or petrol for ignition purposes, as explosion-triggered uncontrollable heat generation may occur.
  • When using the barbecue, it must be placed on a firm, stable and flat surface.

Note: For a perfect charcoal fire, the use of a charcoal chimney starter is recommended (not included in the package).

  1. Before lighting the fuel, make sure the barbecue is clean.
  2. Open the hood to maximise the amount of oxygen available while the charcoal in the barbecue is burning.
  3. Place a layer of charcoal or briquettes (not included) in the fuel tray (maximum 50%charcoal of its normal capacity).
  4. Lay one or two fire starters (not included) on top of the charcoal bed. Light them with a match.
  5. Let the fire starters burn for 2 to 4 minutes. Then, piece by piece, add the charcoal or briquettes in such a way as to create a pyramid.
  6. After approximately 30 minutes, a layer of white ash should have formed on the charcoal or briquettes. This indicates that the ideal cooking temperature has been reached. Then, evenly spread the embers.
  7. Position the pre-greased grill and start cooking the food. If the charcoal is burning too quickly or the cooking heat is too intense, partially or fully close the hood.

Note:

  • Never place glass plates or dishes on the barbecue grill as they may crack.
  • Always use barbecue utensils with long, heat-resistant handles. Do not leave utensils on the grill for long periods of time.
  • Always make sure that the food is thoroughly cooked before eating it.
  • Take special care when cooking food. Oil or grease may splatter when cooking on the barbecue. Stand a safe distance away from it.

TIPS:

  • Occasionally turn the food to ensure that it cooks evenly.
  • Brush meat, seafood, fish and vegetables with oil, grease or a marinade to prevent them from drying out during the cooking process and sticking to the grill.
  • Cooking times may vary, depending on the thickness of the food and temperature of the barbecue.
  • When using wooden skewers, always soak them in water for 10 minutes beforehand. This will prevent the skewers from burning during the cooking process.
  • A marinade helps add flavour and can also make the meat more tender.

Cleaning and maintenance

CAUTION!

  • Let the product cool completely before cleaning and storing it away.
  • Make sure the charcoal has fully burnt and cooled before removing the ashes and storing away the product.
  • Under no circumstances should solvents, chemical or abrasive cleaning agents, wire brushes, sharp objects or scouring pads be used to clean the product, as they could permanently damage its varnish.
  • Do not pour cold water on hot surfaces or directly onto the embers to extinguish them, as this could crack the varnish and damage the product. Furthermore, the generated steam could also burn you. Gradually use old ashes, sand or a fine spray of water to extinguish the embers.
  • Clean the product before first use and after each use.
  • After each cooking session, wait until the fuel is fully extinguished and the barbecue is completely cooled down. Then, empty the fuel tray before cleaning.
  • Never leave water in the fuel tray. This will result in rust and a rapid deterioration of the equipment.
  • Regularly check the barbecue to ensure that none of the screws or bolts are loose, and if necessary, tighten them.

Rust

  • Use a chrome cleaner on any rust found on the chrome parts. To prevent rust, coat the chrome parts with a thin layer of oil, such as vegetable oil or WD40.

Storage

  • Do not leave the barbecue outdoors uncovered or in a humid environment.
  • We strongly recommend purchasing a cover from your local retailer to protect the barbecue, should it be left outside for any length of time. This will significantly increase the product’s service life.
  • If you decide to cover over your barbecue, regularly inspect both the cover and the barbecue to check that they are not damp or affected by mould. Should they be damp or moldy, wash them with hot soapy water and allow them to dry.
  • Make sure that the barbecue has been fully cleaned before covering or storing it away.
  • Store the barbecue in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight and away from dust or dirt.
