Product usage
Before first use
- Unpack the unit. Remove all packaging labels and materials from the appliance.
- Check that the appliance and accessories are complete and free of transport damage. In case of transport damage, incomplete delivery or faulty appliance, do not use the appliance and return it to your dealer or customer service.
- Before the first use, wipe the base unit with a soft dry cloth, and clean the food contact accessories according to the CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE section.
- The appliance may give off a little smoke or a slight odour on the first use. This is normal due to its newness and will go away with regular use.
WARNING!
To avoid danger of suffocation or choking, keep plastic bags and all packaging
away from babies and children.
Using the Fondue Set
Use this fondue set indoors, in a well ventilated area.
-
Place the appliance on a firm, level and heat-resistant surface.
-
Unroll the power cord completely. Arrange it so that it is not in a position where it can be pulled by children or pets, or tripped over.
-
Fill the fondue pot with your favourite recipe (cheese, oil or chocolate fondue). Make sure the content is not filled below the “MIN” or above the “MAX” mark indicated on the pot.
-
Place the fondue pot on the base unit. Ensure it sits flat on the heating plate.
-
Place the splatter guard on the fondue pot.
-
Check that the thermostat knob is turned to the “0” (OFF) position, and then plug the power cord into the wall socket.
-
Turn the thermostat knob clockwise to turn the appliance on and select the heat level [0 (OFF) – Low – Medium – High-MAX]. The indicator light will turn on. The indicator light turns off when the temperature of the level selected is reached.
During use, the indicator light will cycle on and off as the thermostat automatically alternates the heating plate on and off to keep the temperature at the level selected in the thermostat knob. -
Adjust the heat by turning the thermostat knob clockwise to increase the heat, or anticlockwise to lower the heat, as required.
-
Dip bite-size foods with the fondue fork and cook until done to your preference.
NOTE:
The slots of the splatter guard are designed for resting the fondue forks when needed. The fondue forks come with coloured ends so guests can easily identify their utensil. -
Let the food cool down on your plate before eating and eat with a dinner fork.
CAUTION!
Do not eat with the fondue forks to avoid injury. The fondue forks are designed with sharp tips and long handles for spearing and dipping foods only. Set the fondue fork on the side of your plate, keeping in mind that it will be hot as well after dipping. -
Stir the fondue occasionally with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula to prevent food from sticking to the bottom of the fondue pot.
NOTE:
Do not stir the fondue with a metal utensil or fondue fork, or cut food directly in the fondue pot, in order to avoid scratching the non-stick coating of the fondue pot. Use a wooden spoon or silicone spatula for stirring. -
Once finished using the appliance, turn the thermostat knob to the “0” (OFF) position, and unplug the appliance from the wall socket.
-
Allow the appliance and all accessories to cool down completely before cleaning (see CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE).
WARNING!
RISK OF FIRE: Overheated oil or fat can ignite very quickly. Never leave heating oil or fat unsupervised. Should the oil ignite, do not try to put it out by pouring water on it. Cover the fondue pot with a lid or plate immediately. Turn off and unplug the appliance, and leave the fondue pot on the base unit to cool down.
Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning and maintenance
WARNING!
- To prevent the risk of electrocution, turn off and unplug the unit from the wall socket before cleaning it.
- Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning.
- Do not immerse the power cord, plug or base unit in water or any other liquids as they contain electrical components. Do not rinse them under the tap.
- Clean the fondue set after each use.
- Never use solvents, chemical or abrasive cleaning agents, wire brushes, sharp objects or scouring pads to clean the appliance. Use mild liquid dish detergent.
- Wipe the base unit with a soft cloth lightly moistened with water. To remove stubborn stains, wipe with a soft cloth lightly moistened with warm soapy water. Dry the base unit thoroughly with a soft dry cloth after cleaning.
- Wash the fondue pot, splatter guard and fondue forks in warm soapy water with a soft cloth or sponge. To remove stuck-on food, soak them for a few minutes before cleaning. Rinse well and allow to dry.
- Allow all parts to dry completely before using.
NOTE:
The interior of the fondue pot may become slightly darker or yellowish with
use over time. This is normal and does not affect the performance of the non-
stick coating.
Disposal of used oil
- Let the oil cool down in the fondue pot.
- Scrape the grease and pour the oil into a resealable container. Close the lid tightly.
- When the container is full, throw it in the garbage. You can also collect used oil in a container and take it to your local household waste recycling centre.
- Wipe down the fondue pot with paper towel or used paper napkin before washing.
WARNING!
Do not dispose of used cooking oil directly in the household waste, or pour it down the drains (sinks, toilets). It can block your household pipes. Check with local authorities for the proper method of disposal.
Storage
- Always unplug the unit before storing it.
- Store the unit in a fresh, dry and dust-free place, out of the reach of children and pets.
- Please retain the packaging and use it to store your unit when it is not in use for an extended period of time.
