unplugging set the lowest setting on the temperature control dial.

– 45 –

Additional information on the temperature

· The temperature inside the appliance is inuenced by many actors.

How you set the temperature control dial depends on the ambient

temperature, sun exposure, how oten you open the door and the

amount o ood stored. The middle setting o the dial is most optimal

in most cases.

·

Do not put ood into the ridge reezer beore it has reached its operating temperature, which takes minimum 4 hours.

·

Do not change the temperature settings due to the change in the season o the year. The ambient temperature increase will be detect-

ed by the sensor and the compressor will be switched on automati-

cally or a longer period o time in order to maintain the temperature

set inside the chambers.

· The slight changes in temperature are perectly normal and may oc-

cur, or instance during the storage o great quantities o resh prod-

ucts in the ridge, or when the door is open or a longer period o

time. This will not aect the condition o the stored oodstu, and the

temperature will quickly return to its set value.

OPERATION AND FUNCTIONS

Storage o ood in the ridge-reezer

·

The products should be placed on plates, in containers or packed in ood wrap. Distribute them evenly over the shelves.

· I the ood contacts the rear wall, it may cause rosting or wetting o

the products.

· Do not put dishes with hot ood into the ridge

· Products which absorb avours easily such as butter, milk, white

cheese and products with intense avour, such as sh, smoked meat,

hard cheese must be placed on shelves, packed in ood wrap or in

tightly sealed containers.

· The storage o vegetables containing signicant quantities o water

will cause the deposition o condensation on the vegetable contain-

ers, it does not impact on the proper unctioning o the ridge.

· ·

Beore putting the vegetables into the ridge, dry them well. Excessive moisture shortens the shel lie o vegetables, especially the leaed vegetables.

·

Do not wash the vegetables beore storing in the rerigerator. Washing removes the natural protection, thereore it is better to wash the

vegetables directly beore consumption.

· It is recommended to place the products in reezer drawers 1, 2, 3*

up to natural loading capacity (Fig. 11a / 11b).**

1. Packed products 2. Shel 3. Natural loading capacity 4.

· Stacking o products on the reezer shelves is acceptable.*

· It is acceptable to place products beyond the natural loading capacity

by 20-30 mm.**

·

In order to increase the loading capacity o the reezer chamber and allow the stacking o products on the reezer evaporator wire shelves

up to maximum height it is possible to remove drawers 1 and 2.*

Freezing ood**

·

Practically all the ood products, except or vegetables consumed raw, such as lettuce can be rozen.

· Only ood products o the highest quality, divided into small portions

or single use, should be rozen.

· Products should be packed in materials that are odourless, resistant

to air and moisture penetration, and not susceptible to at. Plastic

bags, polyethylene and aluminium sheets are the best wrapping ma-

terials.

· The packaging should be tight and should stick to the rozen prod-

ucts. Do not use glass containers.

·

Keep resh and warm oodstu at ambient temperature away rom the products, which have already been rozen.

·

We advise you not to place more o resh ood at a time to the reezer per day (see table witch technical specication).

– 47 –

·

In order to maintain optimum quality o the rozen ood, reorganise the ood that is in the middle o the reezer, so that it does not touch

the products that are not yet rozen.

·

It is recommended that you move the already rozen products to one side and place the resh products that are to be rozen on the oppo-

site side, as close to the rear and side walls as possible.

· To reezing products, use space marked

.

· Bear in mind that the temperature in the reezer is aected by sev-

eral actors, including the ambient temperature and the quantity o

ood products in the chamber, the requency o opening the door, the

amount o rost in the reezer, and the thermostat setting.

· I you cannot open the reezer door immediately ater closing it, al-

low 1-2 minutes or the negative pressure to compensate, and try

again to open the door.

The storage time or rozen products depends on their quality beore reezing when resh, and on the storage temperature. The ollowing storage periods are recommended when the temperature o -18°C or lower is maintained:

Products Bee Veal

USING THE REFRIGERATOR EFFICIENTLY

Practical everyday tips

·

Do not place ridges or reezers next to radiators, heaters, stoves or in direct sunlight.

· Make sure that air vents are not covered up and clean the dust o

them once or twice a year.

· Select the right temperature: 6 to 8°C in your rerigerator and -18°C

in your reezer is sucient.

· When on holiday, turn up the temperature in your ridge.

· Only open your ridge or reezer when necessary. It helps i you know

what ood each contains and where it is located. Return ood to the

ridge or reezer as soon as possible ater you have used it so that it

does not warm up too much.

·

Wipe the inside o your ridge regularly with a cloth soaked in a mild detergent. Appliances which are not sel-derosting will require regu-

lar derosting. Do not allow rost layers thicker than 10 mm to orm.

·

Keep the seal around the door clean, otherwise it will not shut properly. Always replace broken seals.

Understanding the stars

Temperature is at least -6°C; sucient to store rozen ood or about a week. Drawers or compartments marked with one star used to be a eature o (mostly) cheaper ridges. Food can be stored at -12°C or below or 1-2 weeks without losing its taste. Not suitable or reezing ood. This rating is mainly used to store oods at -18°C or below. Can also be used to reeze up to 1 kilogram o resh ood. This appliance is suitable or storing oods at -18°C or below and reezing larger quantities o resh oods.

– 49 –

Practical tips

Due to the natural circulation o the air in the appliance, there are dierent temperature zones in the rerigerator chamber. · The coldest area is directly above the vegetables drawers. Use this
area or all delicate and highly perishable ood e.g.: – Fish, meat, poultry – Sausage products, ready meals – Dishes or baked goods containing eggs or cream – Fresh dough, cake mixtures – Pre-packed vegetable and other resh ood with a label stating it should be kept at a temperature o approx 4OC. · The warmest area is in the top section o the door. Use this or storing
butter and cheese.

Food that should not be stored in a rerigerator

·-

Not all ood is suitable or storing in the rerigerator, particularly: Fruit and vegetables which are sensitive to cold, such as bananas,

avocado, papaya, passion ruit, aubergines, peppers, tomatoes and cu-

cumbers.

– Fruit which is not yet ripe

– Potatoes

Warning: Example o storing the ood – see gure 12.

To achieve the most eective ood preservation or the longest possible time and to avoid wasting any ood, position the products as shown in Figure 12. In addition, this gure illustrates the layout o drawers, baskets and shelves, which allows the most ecient use o energy.

Optimal temperature and storage conditions will extend product shel lie and optimize electricity consumption. Optimal storage temperature range should be stated on the ood product packaging.

– 50 –

DEFROSTING, WASHING AND MAINTENANCE

Never clean the product’s casing or plastic parts using solvents or strong, abrasive detergents (e.g. washing powders or creams)! Use mild liquid detergents and sot cloths only. Do not use sponges.

External suraces made o plastic should be cleaned with a microber cloth, otherwise irreversible micro scratches will appear.

Derosting the ridge***

·

Frost settles on the rear wall o the ridge chamber. It is removed automatically. During the derosting, the condensate, which contains

contaminants may clog the opening in the through. Should it occur,

careully unclog the opening with the cleaning plug (g. 13).

·

The appliance operates in cycles: it rerigerates (then the rost settles on the rear wall), and derosts (water ows down the rear wall)

·

Disconnect the appliance rom the mains beore cleaning by removing the plug rom the mains socket or switching o the use. Prevent

water rom penetrating the control panel or the light.

· Do not use derosting aerosols. They may cause the ormation o an

explosive mixture, or contain solvents which may damage the plastic

components o the appliance and even be harmul to health.

· Make sure the water used or cleaning does not ow into the evapo-

ration container through the discharge opening.

· The whole appliance, except or the door gasket must be cleaned

with a mild cleaning detergent. The door gasket should be cleaned

with water and wiped dry.

· Wash all the accessories (vegetable containers, door shelves, glass

shelves, etc.).

·

WARNING: Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the derosting process, other than thode recommended by the

manuacturer

Derosting the reezer**

·

It is recommended to combine derosting the appliance with washing it.

· Excessive accumulation o ice on the reezing areas impairs the ap-

pliance’s reezing capacity and increases the energy consumption.

· Derost the appliance at least once or twice a year. In case o a higher

ice build-up, derosting must be carried out more requently.

· I there is ood in the reezer, set the knob to the max. position about

4 hours beore the planned derosting. This will ensure the possibility

o storing the ood at the ambient temperature or a longer time.

· Ater taking the ood out o the reezer, put it in a container, wrap it

with several layers o paper, a blanket and store it at a cool place.

·

The derosting operation should last as short as possible. Long storage o ood at the ambient temperature shortens their shel lie.

– 51 –

Derost the reezer chamber ollowing steps:**

· Switch o the appliance using the control panel and pull the plug out

rom the socket..

· Open the door and remove the ood rom the reezer.

· Depending on the model, pull out the drainage tube located in the

bottom o the reezer compartment and place a suitable vessel un-

derneath.

·

Leave the door open, this will speed up the derost process. Additionally, a pot with hot water (not boiling) may be placed inside the

reezer compartment.

· ·

Wash the interior o the reezer and wipe it dry. Switch on the appliance as per the relevant point in the manual.

Automatic ridge derosting****

The ridge chamber has been equipped with an automatic derosting unction. However, rost may settle on the rear wall o the ridge chamber. This happens usually, when large quantities o resh ood products are stored in the ridge.

Automatic ridge derosting****

The reezer chamber has been equipped with an automatic derosting unction (no- rost). The ood is rozen in the cooled circulation air, and the moisture rom the reezer chamber is discharged outside. As a result, no ice and rost is produced in the reezer and the products do not reeze on each other.

Washing the ridge and reezer chambers manually****

It is recommended to wash the ridge and reezer chambers at least once a year. This prevents the ormation o bacteria and bad odours. Switch o the appliance, using button (1), remove the ood rom the chambers and wash them using water with a mild detergent. Then, wipe the chambers dry with a cloth.

Taking out and putting in the shelves*****

Slide the shel out, then slide it in as much as possible so that its clamp could t the guide groove (g. 15).

Taking out and putting in the door shel*****

Lit the door shel, remove it and put it back rom the top into its required position (g. 16).

WARNING! You must not put an electric heater, a heating an or a hair dryer into the reezer by any means.
