INFORMATION ON THE UNIT/SCOPE OF DELIVERY/ACCESSORIES
Before operating the unit for the first time, please check that all contents have been delivered and that the line voltage is correct. The supplied power adapter (A) is an electronic power supply unit intended for an operating voltage of 100 VAC to 240 VAC. Should you require a different plug type for the operation of the device, you can purchase it from Promed. To change the plug type, press the release (M) and pull the power plug (N) from the power supply unit (A). Take the required power plug (N) and push it back into the power supply unit (A).

  • The Promed 1030 device is outstandingly suitable for manicures with the abrasive wheels provided for this purpose, but especially for use in nail technique (nail design).
  • The Promed 1030 unit uses a high-performance motor. The electronic speed control is used to smoothly set the speed of the grinding head. The unit can rotate clockwise or counterclockwise (reversible).
  • The grinding head holder is able to fixate all commercial grinding heads with standardized dental size shafts of (ø 2.332 to 2.350 mm / 0.091 – 0.093 inches). Please use only high-quality grinding heads with a rounded shaft end and a maximal shaft length of 36 mm (1.26 inches) to guarantee the longest life possible for the grinding head holder!
  • If you want to remove the hand piece (J), just insert it in the hand piece holder (G) provided for this purpose.
  • Always make sure that the grinding head does not come in contact with other objects when you lay the handpiece down. There is a risk of the shaft becoming compressed and asymmetrical. Asymmetry in the grinding head causes damage to the handpiece!
  • Grinding head bits are available at your local specialist retailer or Promed (www.promed.de).
  • To ensure hygienic operation, the grinding heads must be disinfected after use.
  • The handpiece may only be disinfected using disinfectant wipes.

OPERATING THE UNIT

Before you switch the unit on, you must set the rotating speed (rotary knob (D)) to zero. to

  • Insert the power adapter (A) into the power socket and the power adapter plug (B), on the back of the device, into the provided power adapter socket (C).

  • Insert the plug of the handpiece into the socket (I) on the right side of the device.

  • Select a suitable grinding head. Insert the abrasive wheel in the front of the hand piece into the abrasive wheel mount (K) and lock the collet. Never use force to remove or insert a grinding head! Grinding heads with a shaft diameter of 2.332 mm to 2.350 mm (0.091 to 0.093 inches) fit exactly into the grinding head holder without you having to use excessive force. To remove a grinding head, switch off the device with the rotation switch (D) (middle position), making sure that the rotation switch (D) clearly locks into place. Now remove the abrasive wheel after opening the collet.

  • Control of the rotation direction and speed:

    1. Selection of the rotation direction:
You make this selection by turning the rotation switch (D) to the left or right. Counterclockwise: The abrasive wheel turns to the left.
Clockwise: The abrasive wheel turns to the right.

    2. Choice of rotational speed:
The speed is regulated by turning the rotation switch (D) to the left or to the right. The more you turn, the higher the rotationspeed.

    3. Rotational speed indicator:
The rotational speed indicator (E) is on the left next to the rotational speed regulator/rotational direction regulator (D). This indicates the selected rotational speed by means of 5 LEDs. The device functions with maximum rotational speed when all LEDs light up.

  • Before the first use, make sure that you let the handpiece run for about 30 minutes at approx. 16.000 rpm (2 LED lights of the speed indicator (E) should flash). This is necessary to bed in the carbon brushes of the motor.

  • Use of foot pedal (optional accessory):
Set the rotational speed regulator (D) on “zero” (middle position). Connect the foot pedal (O) to the socket (H). The foot pedal LED (F) lights up yellow if the foot pedal is correctly connected. The running direction and rotational speed are set by turning the rotational speed regulator/rotational direction regulator (D). The device is now in standby mode. Turn the device on by pressing the foot pedal. The abrasive wheel starts to rotate in the direction and rotational speed you selected. You switch into the standby mode by pressing the foot pedal again.

Attention:
Never connect the foot pedal (O) to the station or remove this from the station while an abrasive wheel is turning in the hand piece. The device switches itself off in the event of non-compliance (SAFETY STOP). The rotational speed regulator (D) must absolutely be set at “zero” (middle position) to plug in or remove the foot pedal.

Note:
Only Promed foot pedals can be used.

Note:
A different running noise between clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation is normal and caused by bedding in of the carbon brushes or by running in of bearings.

In case of malfunction:

  • Check that the power supply is correct.
  • Check whether the handpiece is connected correctly to the unit.
  • Check whether the safety stop device has reacted by setting the device at zero (middle position) with the rotational speed regulator/rotational direction regulator (D) in order to start the device again.
  • Check whether the foot pedal is properly connected to the device (foot pedal LED (F) lights up yellow).
  • Please contact your service point if the problems are not yet solved.

SPECIAL QUALITY FEATURES

ASC (Automatic Speed Control) = digital load compensation control:
The electronic system registers the pressure on the abrasive wheel when grinding and compensates the loss of rotational speed. Maximum power is always available to you.

All-in-One control knob:
Select running direction and rotational speed with one regulator at the same time through the simplest operation.

Safety Stop:
If the device develops excessive speed and pressure during grinding, the electronics will respond by switching off the device. In this case, you must set the rotation switch (D) of the device to zero (middle position) and start the device again.

MAINTENANCE TIPS

To ensure that the safety, reliability, and performance of the unit are not adversely affected, enhancements, readjustments, alterations, or repairs are not permitted aside from those performed by Promed authorized persons.

  • Keep the inner parts of the handpiece as free as possible from dust and grinding residue.
  • Remove dirt from the outer surface of the handpiece with a cloth moistened with alcohol. Prevent moisture from entering the unit.
  • Only use grinding heads with a dental standard size of 2.332 – 2.350 mm (0.091 – 0.093 inches) and avoid using rusted or damaged grinding heads. Their false usage may lead to excessive wear and tear in the ball bearings. Adhere to the safe speed and the safety measures stipulated by the manufacturer.
  • Do not expose the handpiece to strong knocks as this may damage the ball bearings. If the handpiece should fall down, check whether the grinding head is bent. Pay closer attention to noise and/or heat generation. Send the handpiece immediately in for repair should it be damaged.
  • Before cleaning the unit, make sure that it is turned off and disconnected from the electricity.
  • Do not use any aggressive substances such as scouring agents or other detergents as they may corrode the surface.
  • Never immerse the device in a liquid and keep it away from liquids containing solvent or acetone.
