SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

•  Read and understand these safety instructions before using the jack and carefully follow them to avoid personal injury or material damage.
• It’s forbidden to use the jack to lift people.
• Never overload the jack.
• The jack is only intended for lifting and lowering vehicles. It must not be used for jacking up vehicles for long periods.
•  It is absolutely prohibited to go under, or do any work under, a vehicle resting only on the jack without the support of jack stands.
•  Jacked up vehicles must be safely braked and/or chocked so that they cannot move.
•  Only lift vehicles in the jack retainers or lifting points specified by the manufacturer.
•  It is prohibited to modify the jack in any way.
•  The jack must not be used to lift persons.
•  The person operating the jack must have full control of the jack and the vehicle or object being lifted or lowered.
•  Make sure that all the stickers or other markings on the jack are legible and in good condition.
•  Do not use the jack in the following circumstances:
  • In extreme conditions, e.g. very low or very high ambient temperatures, or in strong magnetic fields.
  • In connection with explosive substances, explosive charges etc.
  • To lift or lower objects containing melted metal, acid, radioactive substances, or loose or inadequately fixed parts.
  • Situations where the jack can come into contact with food.
  • Onboard vessels or other craft.

Inspection before and during use

Check the jack before and after use according to the instructions below:

• Visually inspect the jack before use for deformation, cracks in or beside welds, leakage of hydraulic oil, and for damaged, loose, worn or missing parts.
• If the jack has been exposed to abnormal loads or knocks, or if vibrations or abnormal noise occur when in use it must be checked. We recommend taking the jack to an authorised service centre to be checked.

ASSEMBLY

• 1. Fit both parts of the pump handle together and check that the ratchet engages and locks both parts together.

• 2. Undo the locking screw (4) and insert the pump handle (5) in the handle fixture
  on the jack. Check that the pump handle touches the bottom of the handle fixture.

• 3. Tighten the locking screw.

USE

WARNING!

•  Never work or go under a vehicle without first blocking it up on pallet blocks or the equivalent – risk of personal injury and/or material damage.
•  If the generated efforts exceed 400N, the efforts shall be lowered by additional persons.

Lifting

1. Check that the jack and the vehicle are standing on a level and stable surface.

2. Check that the vehicle is safely braked and/or safely chocked, so that it cannot move.

3. Check that the saddle (2) on the jack is correctly aligned to the jack retainer or lifting point on the vehicle (see vehicle manual).

4.  Close the relief valve on the jack by turning the pump handle clockwise until it resists. Do not overtighten.

5.  Lift by pumping the pump handle up and down.

6.  Place jack stands at suitable places under the vehicle. The vehicle must not be left jacked up without jack stands.
   The vehicle must not rest for a long period on the jack.

7. Open the relief valve on the jack slowly by slowly turning the pump handle anticlockwise, so that the vehicle slowly lowers down onto the jack stands.

NOTE:

• Never crawl under a vehicle that is not supported with jack stands. The jack is not intended to support a heavy load for a long time. Do not lift and support more than one wheel at a time.
• It is absolutely prohibited to go under, or do any work under, a vehicle resting only on the jack without the support of jack stands.

Lowering

1.  Close the relief valve on the jack by turning the pump handle clockwise until it resists.
2.  Lift the vehicle so that it goes clear of the jack stands.
3.  Remove the jack stands. Make sure that no one is under the vehicle when lowering it.
4.  Open the relief valve on the jack slowly by slowly turning the pump handle anticlockwise, so that the vehicle slowly lowers down onto the surface and the saddle lowers to its bottom position.

MAINTENANCE

• The garage jack should be lubricated once a month. Aluminium oxide and rust can cause the jack to lift more slowly and can damage its internal parts.
• Lubricate all moving parts with thin oil.
• Visually inspect the jack for deformation, cracks in or beside welds, leakage of hydraulic oil, and for damaged, loose, worn or missing parts.
• If the jack has been exposed to abnormal loads or knocks, or if vibrations or abnormal noise occur when in use it must be checked. We recommend taking the jack to an authorised service centre to be checked. Clean all the surfaces and make sure that the rating plate and safety and warning labels on the jack are intact and legible.
• Check the oil level in the jack, and top up if necessary.
• Check the jack for corrosion every three months. Clean when necessary and rub with an oiled rag. When the jack is not in use the saddle should be in its lowest position.

WARNING!

•  Never fill the jack with any other oil than a recommended jack oil. The use of other oil can damage the seals.
•  Never use hydraulic brake fluid, engine oil, dirty or contaminated oil, lubricant or other liquids.

Checking the oil level

1. Turn the relief valve anticlockwise so that the piston goes in all the way. Press down the saddle, if necessary.
2. Place the jack on a level surface and carefully remove the oil filler plug.
3. The oil should reach up to the lower edge of the filling hole. Do not overfill when topping up with oil. Only use new, clean jack oil.
4. Replace the oil filler plug.
5. Function test the jack.
6. Bleed, if necessary.

Bleeding

During transport and when in use air can sometimes get into the hydraulic system on the jack. This can reduce the lifting capacity of the jack and means that it needs bleeding.

1.  Open the relief valve fully by turning it anticlockwise.
2.  Pump eight full strokes with the handle.
3.  Close the relief valve by turning it clockwise.
4.  Pump with the handle until the piston is fully out. Pump a few more times to drive out any air.
5.  Carefully unscrew the oil filler plug a little to release the air.
6.  Open the relief valve by turning it anticlockwise one full turn and lower down the jack completely. Press down the saddle, if necessary.
7. Turn the relief valve clockwise to closed position and function test the jack. Repeat the above steps if necessary to bleed it more.
