Display indication Meaning Description

| Ready to measure| The device is ready to perform a measurement. The unit of measurement selected (pdf) flashes until the measurement has been performed.
| Measurement complete| The measurement result is shown on the display. In the event of a fever, the backlight for the display goes red, otherwise, it goes green.
| Ready for the next measurement| After approx. 2 seconds, the unit of measurement selected (°C / °F) starts to flash again, the device is ready for the next measurement.

Please read the instructions carefully before using the device. Thank you for choosing the Promed IRT-100 digital non-contact thermometer. This thermometer was designed and produced in accordance with the Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC. We, the manufacturer, cannot be held liable for any injuries or damages to persons or objects resulting from disregard of this manual.

The Promed IRT-100 infrared thermometer is suitable for the measurement of the human body temperature on the forehead. It can be used for measurements on children from
the age of 6 months and on adults. When properly used, the device ensures quick and precise measurement of the body temperature. We wish you good health. This thermometer is intended for regular measurement and monitoring of the human body temperature. The Promed IRT-100 infrared thermometer is intended for home use only.
BEFORE USING THE THERMOMETER FOR THE FIRST TIME
Read these instructions thoroughly and keep them in a safe place. Make sure that the thermometer has not been damaged in transport. Before being used for the first time, the
Promed IRT-100 must be left in the room for 10 – 15 minutes in order to adjust to the room temperature.

SAFETY INFORMATION

  • Never place or use the thermometer on hot surfaces, near open gas flames or hot objects, such as hot plates, otherwise, the housing may melt.
  • The thermometer may only be operated with the batteries approved by the manufacturer.
  •  For use in indoor areas only.
  • Store the thermometer in a dry place.
  • Attentive supervision is required when using a thermometer in the presence of children.
  • Children must not play with the thermometer, it contains small parts (batteries and battery cover) which may lead to suffocation if swallowed.
  • Only use the thermometer for applications as described in this manual.
  • Operation in the vicinity of strong electromagnetic fields, such as next to a mobile phone, may result in malfunctions.
  • In the event of abnormal temperature results, please contact your GP immediately.
  • This thermometer is not intended for use by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or lack of knowledge unless they have been given instruction concerning how the thermometer should be used by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Do not allow children to play with the packing material as there is a risk of suffocation.
  • Cleaning and maintenance work may not be carried out by children except with supervision.
  • This thermometer may not be immersed in water or other liquids.
  • For cleaning and storage, please read the information in the operating instructions carefully.
  • Only store the thermometer in a clean and dry place. Keep out of direct sunlight. The storage temperature should be between -20 °C (-4 °F) and 55 °C (131 °F).
  • Please do not use the thermometer if the sensor head or the device is damaged.
  • Do not attempt to repair the device yourself if it is damaged.
  • This non-contact thermometer consists of high-quality precision parts. Do not drop the device and protect it against sharp impacts and shocks.
  • Please do not turn the measuring head and do not attempt to remove it.
  • Batteries must be properly disposed of and kept away from small children and heat.

  Warning!
The use of the non-contact thermometer cannot replace a doctor’s appointment.

OPERATING THE DEVICE

Before initial commissioning, please insert the batteries. To do this, please proceed as described under “Changing the batteries”.
A. First, select the desired measuring mode by moving the measuring mode switch (F) to the appropriate position (up to measure the body temperature and down to measure an
object temperature).
B. Now press the on/off button (D) and all symbols on the display (B) are shown. Next, the last measurement value and MEMORY are automatically displayed for two seconds.
C. The thermometer now indicates that it is ready for measurement by: – sounding of a short beep – the unit of measurement (°C/°F) selected flashes.

Measurement of the body temperature
A. In order to start the measurement, point the thermometer at the center of the forehead. When doing so, take care to ensure that the measuring sensor (A) is not more than 5 km away. If there is hair, sweat, or dust on the forehead, please remove it or wipe it off the forehead before the measurement in order to improve the accuracy of the measurement.
B. Press the function key (C) for two seconds, the measurement starts when the button is released.
C. When you hear a long beep, this means that the measurement is finished and you can read the temperature value on the display.

D. Intelligent analysis of the body temperature. If the temperature measured is below 37.5 °C (99.5 °F), the measurement result is shown on the screen with a long beep
and green backlighting. If the temperature measured is above 37.5 °C (99.5 °F), the measurement result is shown on the screen with 10 short beeps and with red backlighting
in order to make it clear to the patient that they may have a fever.

Measurement of the object temperature
A. In order to start the measurement, point the thermometer at the center of the surface. When doing so, take care to ensure that the measuring sensor (A) is not more than 5 km away. If there is dust or dirt on the object, please remove it before the measurement in order to improve the accuracy of the measurement.
B. Press the function key (C) for two seconds, the measurement starts when the button is released.

INTRODUCTION

C. When you hear a long beep, this means that the measurement is finished and you can read the temperature value on the display.

Caution!

  • Please ensure that the subject of the measurement (person or surface) and the thermometer are kept at a stable room temperature for at least 30 minutes before use.
  • After a continuous measurement, please wait at least two minutes before turning the thermometer back on.
  • Do not carry out a measurement immediately after patient care.
  • Never use the thermometer in a high-temperature environment.
  • Do not eat, drink or move during the measurement.
  • Please clean the scanning area and remove dust, hair or sweat before using the thermometer.
  • Please remove any water, dust or dirt from the subject of the measurement before measuring.
  • Please do not remove the thermometer until you hear the long beep at the end of the measurement.
  • If the measuring head gets dirty or you want to pack the thermometer back into the box, clean it carefully with a cotton cloth soaked in alcohol.
  • Please attempt to carry out the measurement in the same area since the results in different areas will be different.
  • Since a baby’s body temperature regulatory function is not perfect, do not carry out a measurement immediately after a change of environment with a significant difference in the temperature in order to avoid a measurement error.
  • In the following cases, the use of a conventional thermometer to carry out measurement is recommended:
  1. The measurement results are higher or lower than expected.
  2.  For newborn babies who are younger than 100 days old.
  3. For children under 3 years of age are suffering from a defective immune system or a very high fever.

Accessing the saved measurement values
The thermometer automatically saves 30 measurement values. In order to read the saved data, proceed as follows.
A. In order to enter memory mode, press the function key (C) for approx. 1 second with the thermometer turned off and the symbol “M” will flash in the display.
B. Now press the function key (C) again and “1” appears in the display, followed by the last measurement value and the memory symbol “M” flashes.promed FR830 IRT 100 Infrared Thermometer -

B. Now press the function key (C) again and “2” appears in the display, followed by the last measurement value but one and the memory symbol “M” flashes.

E. After the 30th measurement value, the display starts from the 1st measurement value again.

Changing the unit of measurement
In order to change the unit of measurement from Celsius to Fahrenheit (°C/°F) press and hold the function key (C) for approx. 8 sec. with the thermometer switched off and either °C or °F flashes in the display, depending on the predefined unit. To change the unit of measurement, press the function key (C) again and save the setting by pressing the on/off button (D).

Beeps/signal tones
The device has 4 different beeps/signal tones for indicating events/measures to you.

Tones Meaning
1 short beep Device start/preparation for measurement
3 short beeps Indicates an error/system fault
Alternating quicker and slower tones Measurement in progress

OPERATING THE DEVICE

Backlighting
The device has 3 different backlighting options for indicating events/results to you.

Lighting up green for 3 seconds after measurement in body mode The

measurement result is lower than 37.5 °C (99.5 °F).

CHANGING THE BATTERIES

As soon as the battery charge gets too low, this is indicated in the display by the battery symbol .
In order to change the batteries, remove the battery cover (E) from the battery compartment
(G) and remove the old batteries (H), now insert 2 new batteries into the battery compartment
(G) and slide the battery compartment cover back onto the thermometer.

Note!

  • Use only high-quality batteries.
  • Never mix new and old batteries or batteries from different manufacturers
  • Remove discharged batteries immediately.
  • If you do not want to use the device for a long period of time, you should remove the batteries in order to prevent potential leakage.

CARE, MAINTENANCE, AND STORAGE

The Promed IRT-100 thermometer is splash-proof and can thus be easily cleaned and disinfected.

  • The measuring sensor (A) is the most sensitive part of the thermometer, clean it and the entire device with a cotton cloth soaked with 70% isopropyl alcohol only.
  • Never use scouring agents, thinners, or benzene to clean the device.
  • Never immerse the thermometer in water or other liquids.
  • Take care not to scratch the surface of the display.
  • If you do not use the device for a long period of time, please remove the batteries from the device in order to prevent damage to the thermometer from leaking batteries.

DISPOSAL

Power tools, accessories, and packaging should be recycled in an environmentally suitable manner.
Only for EU countries:
Do not throw power tools in with the domestic waste! In accordance with the European Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its implementation into national law, nonfunctioning power tools must be collected separately and recycled in an environmentally suitable manner. This symbol indicates that disposal of this product in domestic waste is not permitted within the EU. Waste devices contain valuable recyclable material that should be recycled. Recycling also prevents uncontrolled waste disposal from damaging the environment and human health. Therefore, please dispose of all waste devices using the appropriate collection systems or send the device to the place of purchase for disposal. The place of purchase will then recycle the device.

Rechargeable batteries/batteries:
Do not throw your rechargeable batteries/batteries in the domestic waste, in fire, or in water. Rechargeable batteries/batteries should be collected, recycled, or disposed of in an
environmentally friendly manner.
Only for EU countries:
According to the directive 91/157/EEC, defect or used rechargeable batteries/batteries must be recycled. Waste rechargeable batteries/batteries can be directly handed to:
Promed GmbH, Lindenweg 11, D-82490 Farchant.

WARRANTY CONDITIONS

This product was produced with the utmost care and was thoroughly tested before it left the factory. Therefore, we provide a warranty period of 36 months from the date of purchase for this product. Promed products conform to their description and the relevant specifications; it is your responsibility to ensure that the product which you have purchased is designed for your intended use.

  •  In the event of material defects and/or manufacturing errors that appear during proper use and are detected during the warranty period, we will replace all defective parts of the product free of charge within the warranty period, including the labor costs for warranty repairs.
  • The warranty does not cover:
  • Normal wear on the product
  • Defects that were caused during transportation or storage of the product Defects or damage which were caused through improper use or inadequate maintenance
  • Damage resulting from disregarding the notes in the operating manual
  • Damage resulting from modifications to the product which were not carried out by Promed.
  • Damage caused by sharp objects or as a result of torsion, compression, being dropped, an abnormal impact, or other actions which are beyond Promed’s reasonable control.
  • Parts that are subject to wear (e.g. moving parts such as ball bearings, etc., fasteners, etc.) are generally excluded from the warranty.
  • A claim under the warranty is not enforceable if:
  • the product is not sent back in its original packaging or inadequately secure packaging;
  •  it has been modified or repaired by a person or company other than Promed or one of Promed’s authorized dealers;
  • the product has been repaired using parts that are not approved by Promed;
  • the serial number / LOT number of the product has been removed, deleted, changed, or made illegible.
  • For reasons of hygiene, any products which have been exposed to direct contact with a body or with bodily fluids (e.g. blood) must be packaged in an additional plastic bag before they are sent back. In this case, a specific note of this situation must be made in the package or in the accompanying documents.
  • For components or products which are replaced during the warranty period, a warranty is only provided for the remainder of the original warranty period; provided that the product or part replacement was carried out by Promed or one of Promed’s authorized dealers.
  • The warranty period begins on the day of purchase. Claims under the warranty must be established within the warranty period. Complaints arising after the expiry of the warranty period cannot be considered.
  • Under these warranty conditions, the warranty shall only apply if the date of purchase can be proven by means of a sales receipt or similar.
  • We reserve the right to make technical and visual changes as well as changes to the features.
  • This warranty is only valid and enforceable in the country in which it was purchased by the original buyer, provided that it was Promed’s intention that the product should be offered for sale in this country. This warranty is also enforceable in any country within the European Economic Area in which Promed has an authorized importer or sales partner. Depending on each country, specific and differing warranties and guarantees may be applicable owing to the particularly applicable legislation. These legal provisions are neither excluded nor limited by these warranty conditions. To the extent permissible under national law, the warranty period shall not be extended, renewed or otherwise affected by any subsequent resale, repair, or replacement of the product.
  • The provisions of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods shall not apply.
  • Our warranty conditions do not affect the seller’s legal warranty obligation.
  • To the fullest extent possible under the applicable mandatory legislation, these warranty conditions constitute your sole and exclusive legal remedy and shall apply in place of any other express or implied warranty conditions. Promed is not liable for any unusual, incidental, punitive or consequential damages including, but not limited to loss of profits, loss of use, loss of revenue, costs of replacement equipment or facilities, third party insurance claims, and damage to property which are the result of the purchase or use of the product or occur owing to a breach of warranty, a breach of contract, negligence, product defects or any other legal or statutory circumstances, even though Promed was aware of the possibility of such damages. Promed is not liable for any delay in warranty claims.
  • Promed cannot be held liable for any possible translation errors.

  1. Original proof of purchase/receipt or dealer’s stamp with the date of purchase
  2. Defect discovered
