Care and Maintenance
Before attempting any cleaning or maintenance, unplug the coffee maker from the mains power supply and allow it to cool fully.
STEP 1: Wipe the coffee maker main body with a soft, damp cloth and allow
to dry thoroughly. Do not immerse the coffee maker main body in water or any
other liquid. Never use harsh or abrasive cleaning detergents or scourers to
clean the coffee maker as this could cause damage.
STEP 2: Wash the reusable coffee filter, filter basket and filter support
in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly before replacing inside
the coffee maker.
STEP 3: Clean the glass coffee jug in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry
thoroughly before storing.
Removing Limescale
Limescale can develop over time and may affect the performance and lifespan of
the coffee maker.
It is recommended to descale the coffee maker regularly, at least once every
three months, especially if the coffee maker is used in a hard water area.
Frequent descaling will improve the performance and lifespan of the coffee
maker.
STEP 1: Fill the coffee maker reservoir to the max. fill mark with cold
water.
STEP 2: Add a commercial descaling agent to the coffee maker side water
reservoir, adhering to the manufacturer’s instructions. It is not recommended
to use vinegar to descale the coffee maker.
STEP 3: Run the coffee maker until it has cycled around 2 cups’ worth of
water. Switch off, leave to soak for approx. 15 minutes, and then switch on
again. Repeat until all the water has been cycled.
STEP 4: Empty the glass coffee jug. Refill the coffee maker side
reservoir to the max. fill mark with clean water. Run the coffee maker at
least twice more and pour the water away once it has cooled. The coffee maker
should now be descaled, clean, and ready for use. If any traces of descaling
product residue remains, run more clean water through the coffee maker until
it is completely clean.
If the coffee maker switches off before it has boiled or a white deposit is
noticed on the inside of the coffee maker, it needs to be descaled.

Instructions for Use
Before First Use
STEP 1: Before using the coffee maker for the first time, remove the
glass coffee jug and accessories and wash them in warm, soapy water, then
rinse and dry thoroughly.
STEP 2: Wipe the coffee maker main body with a soft, damp cloth and allow
to dry thoroughly. Do not immerse the coffee maker main body in water or any
other liquid. Never use harsh or abrasive cleaning detergents or scourers to
clean the coffee maker, as this could cause damage.
STEP 3: Fill the coffee side water reservoir and run a brewing cycle
without coffee several times using clean water, following the instructions in
the section entitled ‘Using the Coffee Maker and Hot Water Dispenser’. This
will remove any residue from the internal components.
STEP 4: Fill the hot water reservoir and run a heating cycle several
times using clean water, following the instructions in the section entitled
‘Using the Coffee Maker and Hot Water Dispenser’. This will remove any residue
from the internal components.
Note: When using the coffee maker for the first time, a slight odour may be emitted. This is normal and will soon subside. Allow for sufficient ventilation around the coffee maker.
Preparing Coffee
STEP 1: Remove the reusable coffee filter from the filter basket by
gently pulling it upwards.
STEP 2: Pour cold water into the coffee side water reservoir until the
desired level is reached. The volume fill line can be used as reference to the
amount of cups of coffee that can be produced.
STEP 3: Add the desired amount of finely ground or regular ground coffee
to the reusable coffee filter. One level spoonful should make one cup of
coffee. More or less coffee can be used, to taste. Close the filter basket
lid.
STEP 4: Secure the reusable coffee filter onto the filter basket by
aligning the tabs and clicking into position. Place the glass coffee jug onto
the keep warm plate, then rotate in an anticlockwise direction to secure. The
hole in the glass coffee jug lid and the hole in the bottom of the filter
basket need to be level with each other before use.
Preparing Hot Water
STEP 1: Attach the drip tray cover onto the drip tray.
STEP 2: Pour cold water into the hot water side reservoir until the
desired level is reached. Close the hot water side reservoir lid.
Using the Coffee Maker and Hot Water Dispenser
STEP 1: Plug in and switch on the coffee maker at the mains power supply.
Set the brewing option to the preferred setting and then press the power
button; the indicator light will illuminate blue to signal that the coffee
maker is in operation. Press the power button on the hot water control panel
and allow the water to heat up; hot water will be ready for use when the ready
indicator light illuminates green. The brewing and heating process can take
several minutes and will depend upon the volume of water added to each
respective water reservoir.
STEP 2: Once all of the coffee has dripped from the filter basket into
the glass coffee jug and the brewing cycle is complete, remove the glass
coffee jug from the keep warm plate. It is recommended to wait 1-2 minutes
before doing this to allow the coffee maker to cool and let any excess water
drip into the glass coffee jug. Take care when handling, as the glass coffee
jug is likely to have become hot during operation.
STEP 3: Carefully serve the coffee, as desired; grip the glass coffee jug
by the handle only. For hot water, secure the glass coffee jug or an
appropriate container onto the drip tray and press down the hot water release
lever until the desired amount has been dispensed.
Tip: Both the coffee and hot water functions can be used simultaneously.
Note: The anti-drip feature will prevent water from dripping onto the
keep warm plate when the glass coffee jug is removed. Make sure that the glass
coffee jug is replaced within 30 seconds to avoid water dripping onto the keep
warm plate.
The amount of coffee produced will be slightly less than the amount of cold
water poured into the coffee side water reservoir, as the coffee grounds will
retain some water. Gently shake the reusable coffee filter to evenly
distribute the coffee. Do not overfill the coffee filter.
Caution: Before connecting to the mains power supply, position the coffee
maker onto a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface at a height that is
comfortable for the user.
Check that all of the accessories are in place.
Do not switch on the coffee maker without any water in the water reservoirs.
Do not open either of the water reservoir lids during the brewing cycle, as
this will allow steam to escape and could cause scalding or burns.
Warning: Allow the coffee maker to cool for approx. 3 minutes before
using again. If the coffee maker does not cool completely before reuse, water
placed in the water reservoir may overheat. This will allow hot steam to
escape, which could injure the user.
Keep hands well away of hot water when using hot water dispenser.
Using the Set Time Function
To set the current time: Press the ‘H’ (hour) button until the current hour (AM/PM) is displayed. Press ‘M’ (Minute) button until the current minute is displayed.
Using the Programme Time Function
STEP 1: Whilst holding the ‘PROG’ (PROGRAMME) button, press down ‘H’ and
‘M’ until the desired brewing time is reached.
STEP 2: Once the desired brewing time has been set, release the ‘PROG’
button. The set time will then be displayed.
STEP 3: Press down the ‘PROG’ button for coffee or hot water to come on
automatically at the set time. The ‘PROG’ button will illuminate green when
the programme time has been set. If required, press down ‘PROG’ to cancel the
set time.
Note: Both coffee and hot water program times can be set either independently or at the same time, if preferred.
Hints and Tips
- Always use fresh, cold water to fill the water reservoirs.
- The quantity of ground coffee can be adapted to suit taste. For stronger coffee, increase the amount of coffee and set to the BOLD strength option. Alternatively, use less coffee grounds for weaker coffee.
- If using regular ground coffee, more is needed per cup to achieve the same strength as finer ground coffee.
- After using packaged ground coffee, tightly reseal it and store the unused ground coffee in a cool, dry place.
- To achieve optimum coffee taste, use whole coffee beans and finely grind them before brewing.
- Do not reuse ground coffee or loose tea that has already been used in the coffee maker, as this will greatly reduce the flavour of the coffee.
- Reheating coffee is not recommended, as it interferes with the taste.
Storage
The coffee maker must be cool, clean and dry before storing in a cool, dry place. Never wrap the cord tightly around the coffee maker; wrap it loosely to avoid causing damage.
