Set up
Installation
Please read the manual thoroughly before operating the device!
Power supply (Adapter)
Insert the plug into AC socket. Connect to the device via the 5V/1000mA micro
USB port.
Adapter Model: KZ0501000V
INPUT: 100-240V 50/60Hz 0.3A Max
Output: 5V 1000mA
CAUTION:
Only use the supplied power adapter for this device.
Do not use for other devices.
Operating your radio
-
Extend the telescopic aerial.
-
Press the POWER button to switch on your radio. The display will show “Welcome to digital radio.”
-
If this is the first time using the unit, it will go into DAB Mode and automatically start an ‘Auto Scan’ to search for available stations.
(Once DAB Mode has been used before, the radio will automatically select the last station used when last powered off when it is powered back on)

Pressing SCAN at any time will automatically scan and store stations. Press numbers to selected stored stations (1-8).
During the scanning process, the lower line of the display shows a bar graph indicating the progress of the scan.

When the scanning is completed the first station (in alphanumeric order) will be selected.
The clock will automatically set to the current time.

If the station list is still empty after the scan your radio will display “Service not available ”.

If no stations are found, please ensure the aerial is extended and test the reception by doing another auto scan in a different location.
Selecting a station – DAB
- The top line of the display shows the name of the station currently selected.
- Press the FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- buttons to select the list of available stations on the lower line of the display.
Finding new radio stations
To find new stations you can auto-scan as follows.

Press Pressing SCAN at any time will automatically scan and store stations.

Press and hold the MENU button and the display will show:

Press SELECT to confirm a scan. The display will show “Scanning…” and your radio will perform a scan of the Band III DAB channels.
As new radio stations are found the station counter on the right-hand side of the display will increase and the radio stations will be added to the list stored in the radio.
Secondary services – DAB

Some radiostations have additional secondary services associated with them. If a radio station has a secondary service associated with it the display will show “>>” next to the station name on the station list. The secondary service will then appear immediately after the primary services as you push the FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- buttons

Press SELECT to confirm the station selection.
-
When the secondary service shuts down, your radio will automatically switch back to the main radio station if it is available.
Manually Tuning with DAB
Manual tuning allows you to tune to the various DAB Band III channels. UK
DAB stations are located in the range 11B to 12D.
- Press and hold MENU , then use FORWARD/TUN + or BACKWARD/TUN – to highlight “Manual Tune” and press SELECT.
- Using the FORWARD/TUN + or BACKWARD/TUN – buttons, highlight the desired channel frequency.
- Press and hold MENU, the graph will indicate the signal strength, and the upper line will show the name of the DAB multiplex (group of radio stations). Any stations found will be added to the stored list in the radio.
- Press MENU to return to the normal tuning mode.
Dynamic Range Control (DRC)
Dynamic Range Control (also known as DRC) can make quieter sounds easier to hear when your radio is used in a noisy environment.

Power on your radio.
-
Press and hold MENU then use FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- until the display shows “DRC”. Press SELECT to enter the settings menu
-
Press SELECT to enter to adjust the DRC mode.
-
Press FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- to select the required DRC setting (the default is OFF). DRC OFF – DRC is switched off, Broadcast DRC will be ignored.
DRC LOW – DRC level is set to 1/2 that sent by broadcaster.
DRC HIGH – DRC level is used as sent by broadcaster. -
Press SELECT to confirm the setting. The display will return to the previous display.
Note: Not all DAB broadcasts are able to use the DRC function. If the broadcaster does not support DRC, then the DRC setting in the radio will have no effect.
Finding new stations – FM
- With your radio powered on, carefully extend the telescopic aerial fully.
- Select FM mode.
- Pressing SCAN at any time will automatically scan and store stations.
- Short press PRESET to recall a stored station, or press numbers to select stored stations (1-8).
Display Settings
Backlight Setting:
- Press and hold MENU and use FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – until “Backlight “ is highlighted on the display then press ENTER.
- Press FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- to select the “Backlight auto” auto dimmer after 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180 seconds , or “OFF” to cancel auto dimmer.
Set Brightness:
While in any playing mode, push the DIMMER button on the dial to set the
screen brightness. Alternatively, you can do the following:
- Press and hold the MENU and FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – until “Backlight” is highlighted on the display.
- Press FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- and select the “Set Brightness” and choose High, Medium or Low, pressing SELECT to confirm.
Using Presets
You may store your preferred DAB and FM radio stations to the preset station
memories. There are 60 memory presets in your radio, 30 for DAB and 30 for FM.
DAB mode:

With the radio powered on, select DAB mode.
-
Tune to the desired station.
-
Press and hold the PRESET button to enter preset store mode, then press scroll along to the desired preset number which you wish to store the station and press SELECT.
-
Once correctly stored, “Preset 01 stored” will display on the screen.
-
The station will be stored under the chosen preset. Do this for the remaining available preset slots as and when you wish to store stations for quick access.
Stations that have been stored in a preset slot may be overwritten by following the above procedure and selecting an already used slot. -
Short press the PRESET button to recall the stored stations.
FM MODE:
- Press FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – to scan up or down by 50 kHz.
- When the waveband end is reached the radio will recommence tuning from the opposite waveband end.
- Press SELECT to store it.
Sleep function
Your radio can be set to turn off after a preset time period has elapsed. The
sleep setting can be adjusted from 15 to 90 minutes.
Press the SLEEP button to set the desired sleep time between 15, 30, 45, 60,
75, and 90 minutes or Sleep Off which will cancel the sleep function.
- Press and hold MENU and FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – until “Set Sleep time” is highlighted on the display.
- Press SELECT to choose a length of time.
- Using the FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- buttons set the desired sleep time between 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 minutes or Sleep Off which will cancel the sleep time.
- Press SELECT to confirm the setting. The sleep timer indicator “ ” will show on the display. Your radio will switch off after the preset sleep time has elapsed.
Time & Date Settings
If there is no DAB/FM signal is available, you will need to set the TIME and DATE manually when turned on for the first time.
- Press and hold MENU to enter the settings menu.
- Use the FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – buttons to select “ Settings ” and press SELECT.
- Use the FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – buttons to select “Set Time/Date” then press SELECT. You can also use FORWARD/ TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- to set the time AUTO UPDATE , 12/24 hour modes and date format.
- Use the FORWARD/ TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- buttons to set the correct time and date and press SELECT to confirm.
Alarm Settings
NOTE: PLEASE SELECT A RADIO STATION BEFORE SETTING THE ALARM. You will be given the option to choose from last station used or one of your favorite preset channels.
- Press ALARM to enter the setting menu, press ALARM again to choose ALARM 1 or ALARM 2.
- Use FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – to set the alarm time and press SELECT to confirm.
- Use FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – to chose a duration: 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 minutes and press SELECT to confirm.
- Use FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – to set the alarm source and press SELECT to confirm.
- Use FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – to set the Once / Daily / Weekdays /Weekends option, then choose the days on which the alarm is active.
- Use FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- to set the alarm volume and press SELECT to confirm.
- Use FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – to save the alarm setting.
- When in any playing mode, Press and hold the ALARM button to cancel an alarm.
Snooze
- When the alarm sounds, pressing the SNOOZE button will temporarily silence the alarm, you can choose the time from 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 minutes and snooze off.
- The snooze function also has a countdown allowing you to see how long before the alarm re-sounds.
- When you choose SNOOZE OFF, the radio returns to standby mode, showing the time and date.
Press POWER to turn it on.
Stop The Alarm
When the alarm is sounding you can press the ALARM, MENU or STANDBY
buttons to silence the alarm sound. The radio will then return to Standby mode
– This cancels the alarm, to snooze please use the SNOOZE button.
Factory reset

Press and hold MENU to enter the menu.
-
Press FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- until the display shows “Settings”, then press SELECT to enter the settings menu.
-
Press FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- until the display shows “Factory Reset” Press the SELECT to confirm.
-
If you wish to perform the reset operation, use the FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- buttons until “YES” is highlighted on the display and press SELECT. A full reset of your radio will be performed, All preset stations & station lists will be erased.
If you do not wish to reset your radio press FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – until “NO” is highlighted and press SELECT to confirm.
Your radio will return to the previous menu. -
After a system reset a scan of the DAB band will be automatically performed.
Earphones (NOT INCLUDED)
- Plug the earphones into the earphone socket on the rear of your radio.
- Check that the volume level is not too loud before placing the earpieces into your ears.
FM Stereo/Mono (Earphones only)
Use this if an FM station being received has a weak signal and some distortion
is audible (especially when listening using earphones).

Press and hold the MENU button, “Settings” is highlighted.
Press SELECT to enter this function. -
Using the FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN- buttons, select “Audio setting” then press SELECT.

Using the FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – buttons, highlight “Forced mono” and press the SELECT to select mono. Your radio will select the mono audio mode.
-
To return to stereo mode press FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – until “Audio setting” is highlighted then press the SELECT.

Using the FORWARD/TUN+ or BACKWARD/TUN – buttons, highlight “Stereo allowed” and press SELECT. Your radio will switch to stereo mode.
Note: Stereo listening is only available when listening via earphones.

operable during intended use. In order to disconnect the apparatus from the
main mains completely, the mains plug should be disconnected from the main
socket outlet completely.
If any battery is included it shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as
sunshine, fire or the like.
