IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

This document contains important safety and operating instructions. Please read these instructions carefully and save them for future reference.

Before using the battery charger, read all the instructions and cautionary markings on (1) the charger, (2) the battery, and (3) on the radio using the battery.

To reduce risk of injury, fire, damage or electric shock:

WARNING

  1. Charge only the rechargeable Motorola Solutions authorized batteries listed in the charger user manual.
    Use of accessories not recommended by Motorola Solutions may result in risk of fire, electric shock, or injury.

  2. Always pull by the plug (not the cable) when disconnecting the charger from the supply.

  3. An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use of an improper extension cord could result in risk of fire and electric shock.

  4. Do not operate the charger if it has been broken or damaged in any way. Take it to a qualified Motorola Solutions service representative. Some units are non repairable and should be disposed of in a safe manner.
    Any violation of this policy can void the warranty.

  5. Unplug the charger from the ac outlet before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.

OPERATIONAL SAFETY GUIDELINES

  • Ensure that all ventilation surfaces have unresticted air movement.
  • Turn radio off when charging battery, unless the manual states otherwise.
  • his equipment is not suitable for outdoor use. Use only in dry locations/conditions.
  • Connect equipment only to an appropriately fused and wired supply of the correct voltage (as specified on the product). Replacements fuses must comply with the type and rating specified in the equipment instructions
  • Disconnect from line voltage by removing mains plug.
  • The mains plug should be easily accessible and remove able from the supply.
  • Maximum ambient temperature around the power supply equipment must not  exceed 40°C (104°F).
  • Output power from the power supply unit must not exceed the ratings stated  on the product label located on the bottom of the charger.
  • Ensure any cables are located where they will not be stepped on, tripped over, or subjected to water, damage, or stress.
  • Ensure that the unit and cables are checked regularly for damage.

UNITS MOUNTED IN VEHICLES

In addition to the safety instructions and operational safety guidelines listed above, the following should be strictly adhered to, for units mounted in vehicles:

WARNING

  1. To reduce risk of injury during sudden braking or impact ensure that the units are correctly secured.
  2. Ensure that the installation and operation of the unit(s) is such that the driver will not be distracted from driving safely and can comply with any local regulatory requirements.
Vehicles Equipped with Air Bags

WARNING

  • Do not place or install equipment in the area over an air bag or in the air bag deployment area. Equipment placed or installed in the air bag deployment area may be propelled with great force in the event of the airbag(s) being activated which could result in serious injury to occupants of the vehicle.
  • Installation of equipment and cables should be performed by a qualified installer/technician, in accordance with the manufacturers instructions or guidelines.
  • Units mounted in vehicles should be secure to ensure that they do not break free during operation or in the event of an accident.
  • Mounting fixings/screws can damage cables and wires that run under some  mounting surfaces in the vehicle.

Contact the vehicle manufacturer for the detailed locations of cables and wires in your vehicle, and avoid mounting any units in these locations.
