When there isn’t much room, the outstanding Q Series floorstanding speakers shine. The Q550s, which feature the iconic KEF Uni-Q driver array, produce accurate, natural sound with exceptional clarity and precise bass. Music is delivered with astounding detail and passion via a polished 5.25 in.
The Uni-Q driver array is the brains behind the upgraded Q Series. KEF’s trademark innovation inserts the tweeter in the midrange cone’s acoustic center, bringing the realization of the acoustic ideal of a single point source closer than ever. In comparison to what is feasible with a standard speaker, the end result is a more precise, detailed, and three-dimensional sound image that is distributed more uniformly around the room. By covering the tweeter dome with KEF’s “tangerine” waveguide, Uni-ultra-wide Q’s dispersion is further improved. Lower treble performance is dramatically improved with the addition of the damped tweeter loading tube, which provides a gentle termination of sound produced from the back of the tweeter. A new low-distortion inductor on the crossover also produces cleaner bass. The Uni-Q driver has been moved to the center of the cabinet to reduce unwanted internal resonance and improve the resolution and purity of the Q Series bookshelf speakers. This also adds refinement to their sonic clarity and detail.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Could be bi-wired to use the IRT as the LCR simultaneously (3 in 1)?****
Yes, as long as you bypass the CDK input and link each of the HI-MODAL pre-out channels to a separate sub-channel of the 3-in-1 audio rectification system.
Can you mount this on a wall?****
The speaker does not come with a mount bracket. You will need to construct some sort of bracing, bracket, or shelf system for the speaker due to its weight and 12-inch depth.
Is a grill cover accessible?****
Yes, you can find the grill cover; however, it doesn’t come with the speakers.
What is a center channel speaker good for?****
A home theatre system’s center channel speaker is essential since it reproduces around 70% of the dialogue from movies and television shows. You’re missing out on important details of what you’re watching without one.
Can you use any speaker for center channel?****
For your center channel, you can use any speaker (aside from a subwoofer), but ideally, you should select a speaker with a horizontal cabinet design as opposed to a vertical or square one.
Is a center channel speaker necessary for music?****
A center channel speaker is probably not required if you are only setting up your system for music. Most music is created with stereo functionality in mind. Main audio tracks, such vocals, typically play in either the right or left speaker after being blended into both speakers.
How do I set my center channel speaker?****
Whether in front or behind the screen, always position the center channel speaker as close as you can to the image. If the speaker is positioned on furniture, situate it flush with the front edge to prevent lobing of the sound waves, which can impair dynamics and clarity.
Should center speaker be louder than front?****
No, the middle shouldn’t be louder than the fronts when tuned properly. The center is not louder because of the setup’s numbers (or not as loud)
Can I just use a center channel speaker alone?****
The center channel speaker can still be used independently and still produce excellent sound.
Can I use 2 bookshelf speakers as center channel?****
Generally speaking, using two bookshelf speakers as the center channel is a bad choice because audio cancellation can happen due to nulls.
Does a center channel have to match the other speakers?****
The center channel speaker needs to sound the same as the front left and right speakers for the front soundstage to be seamless.
Can I use a sound bar as a center channel speaker?****
No, a soundbar cannot replace a center speaker without lowering sound quality, to give you the quick answer. Despite their apparent similarity, these two speakers have a few significant distinctions.
Should center channel have bass?****
You don’t require a lot of bass from your center channel speaker. That’s because the center channel of the majority of movie soundtracks doesn’t contain a lot of bass information.
What dB should my center speaker be?****
In general, speakers should be tuned to loudness between 70 and 80 db. Using a decibel meter, this can be determined. The positioning of the speakers, their separation, and the room’s acoustics are a few factors that affect this.
Can I use subwoofer as center speaker?****
Setting the center speaker directly on the subwoofer shouldn’t be a problem if it is well-designed (the cabinet shouldn’t sway or vibrate excessively even at the greatest output).
Why do center channel speakers have two woofers?****
Because the center speakers have two woofers, the tweeter can be placed in the middle instead of to one side, which would again interfere with the left-right soundstage.
How far from Wall should center speaker be?****
At least two to three feet should separate speakers from the closest wall (especially if your speaker is in a corner). Many speakers have bass ports that face the back. A rear bass port that is too close to a wall will reflect sound waves, blurring time.
