OverView

The most recent model of KEF’s acclaimed Q Series is the Q150 Bookshelf Speaker. The upgraded 5.25″ Uni-Q driver Array, updated cabinet, and stylish new finishes all come included on the Q150.

The Uni-Q Driver Array of the Q150 has been improved, and the crossovers have been redesigned to deliver cleaner, more accurate bass. The Q150’s internal architecture has been revised to eliminate internal resonances and improve audio clarity. The front port has been relocated to the back of the device. Elegant matte vinyl finishes in Black and White are offered for the Q150. Impedance nominal: 8 (min. 3.7). When there isn’t much room, the amazing Q Series bookshelf speakers shine. The Q150s’ Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) port design and characteristic KEF Uni-Q speaker array produce accurate, natural sound with excellent clarity and tight bass.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Would placing these on their side (sideways) impair performance?****

You may set this down upright or on its side because of the Uni-Q driver’s design, and both positions will give you a spacious, clear soundstage. There are rubber feet inside the box that you can place on the bottom or the speaker’s sides as you see fit. I would advise applying them to prevent rubbing up of the speaker finish and the finish of your furniture. Although the speaker finish is fairly resilient, I still strongly advise installing these tiny rubber feet.

Would Sonos beam support these speakers?****

No, they won’t.

Are these speakers suitable for watching movies?****

Yes, when used with surround sound speakers and a Q650c center channel. They will only supply two channels and perform admirably if they are acting alone. The majority of movies include audio output on more than two channels.

What is the frequency response?****

50Hz-30 kHz.

Does the speaker have a mounting point?****

No, the speakers don’t have any mounting point.

Do I need to purchase anything extra if I want to set them up with a video projector using a laptop as the source?****

For this scheme, an A/V receiver is appropriate. Laptop connects to A/V receiver, projector receives video output, and Q150 speakers get speaker cables.

Can I use these with the 7.2 channel Denon AVR-S710W receiver?****

Yes, any amp can drive these speakers with ease.

Are the KEF Q150 speakers good?****

In this price bracket, the KEF Q150 bookshelf speakers are real powerhouses. They don’t sound the best of all time, and if you have a lot of money, you can spend a lot more and still get better speakers. Otherwise, if you have a budget of about $600, you should purchase these speakers.

Are KEF speakers high end?****

An array of high-end audio devices, including Hi-Fi speakers, subwoofers, architecture speakers, wireless speakers, and headphones, are designed and manufactured by the British business KEF.

Does KEF Q150 need a sub?****

The frequency response range of the KEF Q150 speakers is 51-28,000Hz. They can therefore tolerate a fair amount of low-end and cover the entire top end. For the greatest performance, you should probably still use a subwoofer in conjunction with them. At 86dB, their sensitivity is excellent (measured at a standard 2.83V at 1 meter).

Are KEF speakers made in China?****

The Q and R series are produced in China at KEF’s own factory there, undoubtedly for financial reasons.

Should I toe in my KEF speakers?****

Toe-in is not required with Uni-Q loudspeakers, although it may be with many other loudspeakers. Starting with the speakers looking directly into the room is something we would always advise.

Does KEF support Dolby Atmos?****

Installing Ci Series flush-mount speakers in the ceiling or, more simply, attaching the stunning new KEF Q50a up-firing Dolby Atmos speaker module to your front and rear satellites are the two options provided by KEF for recreating Dolby Atmos soundtracks. In either case, it will alter how much you like the movie.

Is monitor audio better than KEF?****

Compared to Monitor Audio speakers, KEF speakers are going to be less bright and blaring. Although very well made, monitors can be harsh. I enjoy smooth.

Should bookshelf speakers be on the floor?****

Bookshelf speakers should not be placed on the ground; instead, they should be placed on a shelf, table, or other elevated surface. They are made with the intention of enhancing sound in tiny to medium-sized settings.
