HDMI Type A output connector

Receiving Devices

  • A display device or receiver with an HDMI Type A input connector
  • A/V receiver with TOSLINK / coaxial / RCA input connectors
  • Speakers

Cables

  • Use HDMI cables to connect the HDMI source and display device to the VC880
  • Use appropriate audio cables to connect the A/V receiver / speakers to the VC880.

Note: Cables are not included in this package.

Hardware Installation

Installation

  • Before beginning the installation procedure, ensure that all equipment to be connected is powered off.
  • To prevent damage to your installation, make sure that all devices are properly grounded.
  1. Use an HDMI cable to connect your HDMI source device to the VC880’s HDMI In port, located on the unit’s rear panel.
  2. Use an HDMI cable to connect your HDMI display device to the VC880’s HDMI Out port, located on the unit’s rear panel.
  3. Use the appropriate cables to connect your A/V receiver/speakers to the VC880’s Digital Audio Out / Stereo Audio Out ports, located on the unit’s rear panel.
  4. Using the power adapter supplied with this package, connect the VC880 to an AC power outlet.
  5. Turn on the source, display, and receiving devices.

Basic Operation

  • Use the Audio Channel Selection Switch, located on the unit’s front panel, to select your audio source. Options are 2 channel / 5.1 channel / Automatic.
    Note: The VC880 supports digital audio (Dolby 5.1, DTS 5.1) and analog audio (stereo)

  • Use the HDMI Audio On/Off Switch, located on the unit’s rear panel, to control the audio carried in the repeated HDMI signal.
    Note: This switch does not affect the other audio outputs

Firmware Upgrade

  1. Download the VC880’s latest firmware version from the ATEN website.

  2. Connect the VC880’s F/W Upgrade port to the computer you downloaded the firmware package to, using a firmware upgrade cable
    Note: A firmware upgrade cable is not included in the VC880 package. Please contact your dealer to purchase one.

  3. Press the VC880’s Firmware Upgrade pushbutton, located on the unit’s rear panel.

  4. Power off then power on the unit, by unplugging and replugging the power adapter.

  5. Run the firmware upgrade file, following the on-screen instructions.
