Thank you for purchasing the Speak & Learn Puppy!
Build language and listening skills with Bailey, the puppy who says what you say. Play activities and listen to songs with this interactive talking and singing puppy.

All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, packaging locks, removable tags, cable ties and packaging screws are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety.

GETTING STARTED

BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

  1. Make sure the unit is turned Off.
  2.  Find the battery cover located on the bottom of the unit and use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and open the battery cover.
  3. Remove old batteries by pulling up on one end of each battery.
  4. Install 4 new AA (AM-3/LR6) batteries into the battery compartment as illustrated.
  5. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.

BATTERY NOTICE

  • Alkaline batteries are recommended.
  • Use only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended.
  • Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable, or new and used batteries.
  • Do not use damaged batteries.
  • Insert batteries with the correct polarity.
  • Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
  • Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
  • Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.
  • Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
  • Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
  • Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging (if removable).
  • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.

Disposal of Batteries and Product
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and batteries, or on their respective packaging, indicates they must not be disposed of in domestic waste as they contain substances that can be damaging to the environment and human health.
The chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb, where marked, indicate that the battery contains more than the specified value of mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb) set out in Battery Directive (2006/66/EC).
The solid bar indicates that the product was placed on the market after 13th August, 2005. Help protect the environment by disposing of your product or batteries responsibly. For more information, please visit:

Note: This product is in Try-Me mode in the packaging. After opening the package, slide the Control Switch to the Off position, then slide the Control Switch to the On position. If the unit powers down while playing, please install a new set of batteries.

PRODUCT FEATURES

  1. Off/Low/High Volume Selector
    Slide the Off/Low/High Volume Selector to Low [ ] or High [ ] to turn the toy on and select the volume.

  2. Learning Level Selector
    Slide the Learning Level Selector to level 1, 2 or 3 to select the learning level to use with the Talk Button. Bailey interacts with your child by repeating what is said, asking questions and using your child’s responses to build a short story.
    • Level 1: Bailey repeats simple words and sounds.
    • Level 2: Bailey speaks full sentences and asks questions.
    • Level 3: Bailey helps create short stories.

  3. Power Button
    Press to wake up the toy or put the toy in sleep mode.

  4. Talk Button
    Press the Talk Button to answer questions and create fun stories. The Learning Level Selector changes the interactions.

  5. Music Button
    Press to hear three fun learning songs.

  6. Star Button
    Press the Star Button to learn letter sounds and numbers one to five.

  7. Babble Button
    Press to initiate the babble feature to talk back and forth with the toy. Explore all the ways Bailey talks and responds by repeatedly pushing the Babble Button and playing along.

  8. Ears & Head
    The toy’s ears move up and down and the head moves from side to side when Bailey talks.

  9. Automatic Shut-Off
    To preserve battery life, the Speak & Learn Puppy will automatically enter sleep mode after approximately 45 seconds without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

  1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
  2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat sources.
  3. Remove the batteries if the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.
  4. Do not drop the unit on a hard surface and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If for some reason the unit stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:

  1. Turn the unit Off.
  2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
  3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
  4. Turn the unit On. The unit should now be ready to use again.
  5. If the unit still does not work, install a new set of batteries.

Environmental Phenomena
The unit may malfunction if subjected to radio-frequency interference. It should revert to normal operation when the interference stops. If not, it may become necessary to turn the power Off and back On, or remove and reinstall the batteries. In the unlikely event of an electrostatic discharge, the unit may malfunction and lose memory, requiring the user to reset the device by removing and reinstalling the batteries.
