Operation Instructions

We would like to congratulate you on purchasing the » DS-2 «. You have chosen a modern and reliable alarm clock. Kindly read the instruction ma- nual carefully in order to use the de- vice properly and to familiarize your- self with all its possibilities.

Functioning principle

The » DS-2 « is an electronic clock with a digital time display.
It wakes you by flash and/or with an acoustic signal which is adjustable in pitch and volume.
Additionally, it can indicate incoming phone calls by flash and sound sig- nals.
The following accessories can be connected to the »AUX« connector of the alarm clock:

  • Vibrating pillow A-3303-0
  • Vibration contraption A-3310-0
  • Flash module A-3320-0
  • Acoustic module A-3340-0
  • Telephone cable (optional)
  • Microphone cable (optional)

Setup

Connect the power supply unit to the 12 V power socket of the alarm clock and plug it into a 230 V power outlet.

Setting the time

To set the time, press the time set button »« for one second. The hour digits will start to flash. Set the desired hour by turning the adjusting wheel (on the reverse side of the of the clock) to the left or right.
Press the time set button »« again. The minute digits will start to flash. Turn the adjusting wheel to the left or right to set the desired minutes.
Pressing the time set button »« again will end the time setting proce- dure and the set time is displayed.

Setting the alarm time

To set the alarm time, press the alarm time button »« for one second. The hour digits of the alarm time will start to flash. Set the desired hour by tur- ning the adjusting wheel to the left or right.
Press the alarm time button »« again. The minute digits of the alarm time will start to flash. Turn the adjusting wheel to the left or right to set the desired minutes.
Pressing the alarm time button »« again will end the alarm time setting procedure and the set alarm time is displayed.

Alarm ON / OFF

The waking alarm can be switched on and off with the slider switch on the left side of the alarm clock.
Slider in upper position (green area is visible): Alarm is switched ON.
Slider in lower position: Alarm is swit- ched OFF.

Alarm tone ON / OFF

Press the alarm tone button »« for one second to switch the alarm tone ON or OFF. If the alarm tone is on, the speaker symbol will be visible in the display.

Setting the alarm tone volume

Press and hold the alarm tone button
»« while adjusting the volume of the alarm tone. After 2 seconds, the alarm tone can be heard. Keep the alarm tone button pressed and turn the adjusting wheel to the left or right to adjust the desired alarm tone vo- lume. Release the alarm tone button to end the volume setting procedure.

Setting the alarm tone pitch

While adjusting the alarm tone pitch, press and hold both the alarm tone button »« and the spherical snooze button at the same time. After 2 se- conds, the alarm tone can be heard. Keep the alarm tone button and the snooze button pressed and turn the adjusting wheel to the left or right to
adjust the desired alarm tone pitch. Release the buttons to end the pitch setting procedure.

Flash ON / OFF

Press and hold the flash button »« for one second to switch the flash ON or OFF. If the flash is on, the flash symbol will be visible in the display.

Setting the nighttime display brightness

The brightness of the displayed digits is automatically adjusted ac- cording to the light conditions within the room. During the day, the digits are displayed with full brightness. In darkness, the set nighttime display brightness is activated.
To set the nighttime display bright- ness, press and hold the flash button
»«. Keep the flash button pressed and turn the adjusting wheel to the left or right to adjust the desired display
brightness for the night. Release the button to end the setting procedure. If this adjustment is done during day- light conditions, the display will switch back to full brightness after a few se- conds.

Snooze function

You can interupt a current alarm by pressing on the spherical snooze but- ton. The alarm will be repeated after 5 minutes.

12 / 24 hour mode

The time can be displayed in a 12- or 24 hour mode.
The adjustment  is made with the » 24h/12h « switch on the reverse side of the alarm clock.

Power cut backup

The battery compartment can hold 4 batteries of size AAA (not included). In the event of a power cut, these guarantee the continuation of the set time.
Please note: During a power cut, the time display and the flash are not ac- tive as the power consumption is too high for the backup batteries!

Telephone ring signalling

The » DS-2 « can indicate incoming telephone calls by flash and sound. There are two connection possibilities to pick up an incoming phone call:

  1. You can pick up the telephone ring signal by using a modem- or answer- ing-machine type telephone cable (optionally available). The cable connects the alarm clock with a se- condary connector of the telepho- ne
  2. You can pick up the ring signal from the sound outlet of the telephone by using an external microphone (optionally available) which is fixed with a self-adhesive pad to the sound

The microphone cable is connected to the “MIC” connection socket on the reverse side of the » DS-2 «.

Please note :

The ringing signal of the telephone is set factory-wise and cannot be alte- red with the tone adjustment buttons.

Maintenance and care

The » DS-2 « does not require any maintenance. If the unit does be- come dirty, simply wipe it clean with a soft, damp cloth. Never use spirits, thinners or other organic sol- vents. Do not set up the unit where it will be exposed to full sunlight for long periods. In addition it must be protected against excessive heat, moisture and severe mechanical shock.
Note: This product is not protected against splash water. Do not place any containers filled with water, such as flower vases, or anything with an open flame, such as a lit candle, on or near the product.

Warranty

The » DS-2 « is a very reliable product. Should a malfunction occur despite the unit having been set up and op- erated correctly, please contact your dealer or the manufacturer directly. This warranty covers the repair of the product and returning it to you free of charge. It is recommended that you send in the product in its original packaging, so keep the packaging for the duration of the warranty pe- riod.
The warranty does not apply to dam- age caused by incorrect hand-ling or attempts to repair the unit by people not authorised to do so (destruction of the seal on the unit).
Repairs will only be carried out under warranty if the completed warranty card is returned accompanied by a copy of the dealer’s invoice/till re- ceipt.

Always specify the product number in any event.

Disposal of used electrical and electronic units (applicable in the countries of the European
Union and other European coun- tries with a separate collection sys- tem).
The symbol on the product or the packaging indicates that this pro- duct is not to be handled as ordinary household waste but has to be retur- ned to a collecting point for the recy- cling of electrical and electronic units. You help to protect the environment and health of your fellow men by the correct disposal of this product.
Environment and health are endan- gered by incorrect disposal. Material recycling helps to reduce the con- sumption of raw material.
You will receive further information on the recycling of products from your local community, our communal dis- posal company or your local dealer.
