Installation

Installation

The receiver can either be stood or mounted on a wall anywhere within the radio range of the transmitters. To do this, fix the supplied screws into the wall (or wooden beam, cupboard, etc.) at a horizontal distance of 68 mm. When mounting on stone walls, it is necessary to use a power drill and masonry bit (6 mm). In this case, use the enclosed wall plugs for fastening. After attaching the screws, hook the »visuTone.air« receiver onto these via the recesses on the back of the unit.

Doorbell-pushbutton / Telephone transmitter

Lift the locking tab slightly and turn the wall bracket on the underside of the transmitter 90° to the housing. The mounting base can now be removed from the transmitter. Stick the wall bracket to the desired position on smooth and clean surfaces using the pre-mounted adhesive surface. For rough, uneven and dusty surfaces, it is recommended that the bracket be attached with screws. Insert two screws at a distance of 50 mm into the wall (or wooden beam, cupboard, etc.). When attaching to walls, it is necessary to use a power drill together with a masonry bit. In this case, use wall plugs to secure the bracket. Screw the bracket to the wall – be careful not to overtighten the screws. Then place and turn the transmitter housing back onto the bracket. The doorbell-pushbutton is protected against water and can be mounted outdoors (protection class IP56).

Telephone transmitter:

Choose a location close to your telephone socket of your household or the telephone output of your router. If applicable, fix to a wall as described above. Connect the RJ-11 plug of the transmitter. If necessary, use adapters for this purpose (adapters are not included).

Inserting the batteries

Receiver

Open the door of the battery compartment and insert 3 batteries size C. Please ensure correct polarity of the batteries.

The power supply unit (item number A-2907-0, available as accessory) can alternatively be used. Plug the connector into the DC socket on the lower rear side of the receiver.

Battery indicator: When the batteries are at the end of their life, the red battery indicator flashes once every 15 seconds. The volume of the acoustic indicator is turned down and can only be turned up again after the batteries have been replaced.

Unlock the locking tab by using a small flat screwdriver. Rotate the mounting bracket and transmitter 90 degrees against each other. Remove the mounting bracket from the unit.

Rotate the battery cover using a coin. Remove the battery cover and insert the included CR2032 battery into battery compartment provided. Please ensure correct polarity of the battery. Insert the battery cover and lock it, using the coin again. Reattach the transmitter to the mounting bracket.

Battery indicator: If the transmitter battery reaches a low level, a warning signal is sent to the receiver. The respective symbol (green or orange) then flashes on the receiver once every 15 seconds. Replace the transmitter’s button cell as soon as possible.

Operation

The transmitter and receiver are already matched to each other at the factory and are immediately ready for operation after inserting the batteries. The coupling procedure described below can be carried out in the event of faults or the linking of further transmitters.

Register a transmitter with the receiver:

The control wheel functions also as a button. Open the battery compartment door to operate it.

Register a transmitter with the receiver

  1. Press and hold the control wheel button for 2 to 3 seconds. The green doorbell event indicator lights up and starts flashing. If necessary, press the button again to change to the orange telephone ring event indicator. Otherwise, press the button again to cancel the pairing process.
  2. When the desired event indicator flashes on the receiver, press the button of the transmitter you wish to be paired. If the pairing is successful, a beep is heard and the selected symbol flashes quickly.
A double beep means a failed pairing. Make sure that the affected transmitter has not already been registered.

Setting the melody:

The standard melody is set by default. You can choose between 4 doorbell melodies and 2 telephone ringtones. Proceed as follows to change the melody:

  1. Press and hold the control wheel button for 2 to 3 seconds. The green doorbell event indicator lights up and starts flashing. If necessary, press the button again to change to the orange telephone event indicator. Otherwise, press the button again to cancel the pairing process.
  2. Select the desired melody for the acoustic alerting. To do this, turn the control wheel until the desired melody is heard. Press the control wheel button to select it.

Unregister a transmitter:

To unregister a transmitter, proceed as follows on the receiver unit:

  1. Press and hold the control wheel button for 2 to 3 seconds. The green doorbell event indicator lights up and starts flashing. If necessary, press the button again to change to the orange telephone event indicator. Otherwise, press the button again to cancel the process.
  2. When the according event indicator flashes on the receiver, press and hold the control wheel button for 2 to 3 seconds. A beep is heard if the unregistration was successful.

Indication selector:

The slider switch on the right-hand side of the unit can be used to select 3 different alerting modes:

  1. Sound only

  2. Sound and flash

  3. Flash only

Adjusting the volume:

8 volume levels can be set with the control wheel button. To do this, turn the wheel up or down. Each volume level is indicated by a beep, a double beep means that the maximum setting has been reached.

The volume can be changed at any time. Exceptions: The receiver is in pairing mode or the battery level indicator is lit.

Please note that the volume setting applies to both event indicators.

In case of device conflicts:

If the »visuTone.air« behaves erratically or rings for no apparent reason, there may be an interference caused by a neighbouring RF device. This can be resolved by changing the transmitter code as follows:

  1. Unregister the affected transmitter as described in 3-3.
  2. Remove the button cell battery from the affected transmitter.
  3. Press and hold the transmitter button and reinsert the button cell. The button should then be held for another 5 seconds. The transmitter’s LED flashes 5 times, indicating that a new coding has been generated.
  4. Now register the transmitter again.

Troubleshooting

A red indicator flashes and the ringtone volume has dropped:
Replace the batteries of the receiver. Use „C“ (R14) size alkaline batteries.

An event indicator flashes every 15 seconds:
Replace the battery (button cell type CR2032) of the corresponding transmitter.

I need to unregister a transmitter:
Proceed as described in section 3-3.

The receiver rings but no-one is at the door or the phone:
Proceed as described under point 3-6.

I cannot remove the transmitter from the bracket:
There is a locking tab on one of the narrow sides of the bracket. This must be pressed slightly away from the transmitter – the transmitter can now be twisted and removed.
