DIGITAL MULTIMETER

GENERAL INFORMATION
This digital multimeter was designed with a view to comply with the safety requirements of standard IEC 61010-1. Complies with 600 V CAT IV and 1000 V CAT III measurement categories and Category 2 contamination requirements. Before using this instrument, please read this instruction manual and observe the relevant safety precautions.

CAT IV: Measurements on low voltage power sources: For example, consumption meters, input cabinets, primary surge protection devices
CAT III: Measurements inside buildings or plants. For example, fixed equipment, distribution panel, cabling, bus bars, switches, surge protection distribution box, etc.

PUSHBUTTONS:

SEL Switching between °C and °F measuring in TEMP position In the position of voltage or current measuring: ACV/DCV, ACA/DCA In or position: selecting the diode, or beep sound on/off switch

Hz% In position of AC voltage or AC current measuring: Each push of the button shifts between ACV/Hz/% and ACA/Hz/% measuring mode. In frequency position: switching upon push of button between Hz or % measuring mode.

H Pressing this button will store the measured reading on the display. Pressing the button again or changing functions will cause the instrument to clear the data.

Holding it for 3 seconds, switches the backlight on or off, backlight will turn off after 15 minutes individually

Contact free phase detection (NCV):

Set the rotary switch to „NCV” position. If the multimeter’s front (marked by 1 in figure) is brought close to a live con-ductor, the multimeter’s light (marked by 2 in figure) and buzzer will activate. Note: Do not rely solely on the instrument, as dangerous voltage may still be present in the conductor being tested even if there is no indication. Detection can depend on the type of socket, the thickness of insulation, RF interference and other factors, which can falsify the measurement.

DC voltage measurement ( V)
Connect the red probe cable to the socket, and the black one to the “COM” socket. Set the dial to the DC voltage position. Connect the measure-ment probes to the circuit to be measured. Note: The reading can be unstable, especially in the 400 mV measurement range, if the probe cable is not con- nected to the circuit being measured.

Connect the red probe cable to the socket, and the black one to the “COM” socket. Set the dial to the alternating voltage function. Connect the measuring probes to the circuit to be measured. Note: The reading can be unstable, especially in the 400 mV measurement range, if the probe cable is not connected to the circuit being measured.

Connect the black probe cable to the “COM” socket. Connect the red probe cable and set the selector dial according to the current values to be measured:

Use „SEL” pushbutton to set direct current (DC ) function. Interrupt the circuit whose current is to be measured then connect the probe to the points to be measured.

When the measured current is bigger than 5 A, continuous measuring time can not be longer than 10 seconds, and at least 1 minute has to be spent between two measuring.

Connect the black probe cable to the “COM” socket. Connect the red probe cable and set the selector dial according to the current values to be measured:

When the measured current is greater than 5 A, duration of continuous measuring should not be longer than 10 seconds, and at least 1 minute has to be spent between two measuring.

Frequency response: 40Hz-1kHz True RMS

FREQUENCY MEASUREMENT
Connect the red probe cable to the socket, and the black one to the “COM” socket. Set the dial to the „Hz%” function. Use the „Hz%” push button to set the frequency (Hz) function. Connect the measurement probe to the circuit to be measured.
Note: Frequency measurement only works with automatic measurement ran-ge selection. Do not exceed the input voltage as this may damage the device.

DIODE- AND INTERRUPTION TESTING
Diode testing: connect the red probe cable to socket, and the black one to the “COM” socket (the red probe is for “+” polarity). Set the dial to
position. Use the „SEL” pushbutton to select the diode testing ( ) function. Connect the red probe cable to diode’s anode, and the black one to its cathode. The display will show the diode’s approximate forward voltage. If the connection is reversed, “OL” will appear in the display.

Interruption testing: a Connect the red probe cable to the socket, and the black one to the “COM” socket (the red probe is for “+” polarity). Set the dial to the position. Use the „SEL” pushbutton to select interruption testing ( ) function. Touch the circuit to be measured with the probe cable. If the circuit is connected to a power source, switch off the power source and discharge the capacitors before starting measurement. Short-circuits (less than 60 Ω) will be indicated by the built-in buzzer.

CAPACITY MEASUREMENT:
Connect the red probe cable to the socket, and the black one to the “COM” socket. Set the dial to the ****position. Connect the measurement probe to the circuit to be measured. If the capacitor to be measured is connected to a circuit, switch off the power source and discharge the capacitors before starting measurement.

Note: Capacity measurement only works with automatic measurement range selection. When performing measurements please note that the larger the capacity (µF) being measured, the more time it takes for the multimeter to take an accurate measurement.

RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT (Ω)
Connect the red probe cable to the socket, and the black one to the “COM” socket. (The red probe cable is “+” polarity.) Set the dial to Ω position. If the resistor to be measured is connected to a circuit, switch off the power source and discharge the capacitors before starting measurement.

MEASUREMENT OF DUTY RATIO
Connect the red probe cable to the socket, and the black one to the “COM” socket. Set the dial to „Hz%” function. Use the „Hz%” pushbutton to set the duty ratio (%) function. Connect the measuring wire to the circuit to be measured. Note: do not exceed the value of input voltage, since it may lead to the malfunction of the device!

TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT (TEMP)
Connect the red temperature probe to  socket, and the black one to the “COM” socket. Set the dial to „TEMP” function. After the measurement stabilized, read the displayed value. Attention! The included type K thermometer can be used for continuous measurements up to 300 degrees Celsius.

BATTERY AND FUSE REPLACEMENT

If the “ ” icon appears on the display, the batteries require replacing. The fuse only needs to be replaced rarely due to errors associated with use. Befo- re battery/fuse replacement, turn off the device and unplug the probe cables. For battery replacement remove the screw from the rear panel. For fuse repla- cement first remove the instrument from its case then remove the screws from the rear panel. Replace the battery/fuse. Observe the correct battery polarity. Replace the cover and tighten the screws.
Warning:
Before opening the instrument, make sure that the probe cables have been removed from the measuring circuit.
Replace and tighten the screws so that the device operates in a stable manner during use and accident hazards are avoided.

MAINTENANCE

  • In order to open the outer shell of the multimeter, first unplug the probe cable, then unscrew the 2 screws from the back panel of device, then carefully re-move the back cover. Before opening up the multimeter, you should be aware that dangerous voltage may be present in some of the capacitors even if the device is switched off.
  • The calibration, maintenance and servicing of the multimeter should only be performed by a specialist who is completely familiar with the operation of the multimeter and the shock hazard involved. If not planning to use the multimeter for an extended period of time, please remove the battery and avoid storing the unit in excessively warm or humid environments.
  • If necessary, replace the fuse with one matching the parameters listed above. Do not use any abrasives or solvents on the device. Only use a damp cloth or mild detergent for cleaning the unit.

SAFETY PRESCRIPTIONS, WARNINGS

  • Do not load on the equipment more than 600 V AC / DC voltage, nor greater than 10 A AC / DC current!
  • Do not connect any voltage-source in , diode, interruption testing, thermo-meter, brightness-, noise level-, capacity-, humidity- measurement function!
  • Voltage should not be greater than 600 V DC or ACEFF between the common input and the grounding.
  • During the measurement, only change the function after the measuring cord has been removed!
  • Be careful when working with over 60 V DC or 30 V ACEFF voltage! Keep in mind that some equipment (TV, switching power adapter …) may cause harmful voltage surges!
  • If the unit is used near strong electromagnetic interference, please note that the multimeter’s operation can become unstable or it may indicate malfunction.
  • Never exceed the safety limits specified in the instructions for each measurement range.
  • Never use the unit without its rear panel fully attached.
  • Remove from circuit and discharge the high voltage capacitors before measuring resistance, interruption, diodes or capacity.
  • Be very careful when working with bare cables or bars.
  • If any irregular operation is detected on the multimeter, immediately switch it off and have it serviced.
  • If the value to be measured is unknown, check the highest possible measurement range on the multimeter, or whenever possible, select the automatic measurement range mode.
  • Before rotating the limit selection switch, disconnect the probe cable from the measurement circuit.
  • Never perform resistance or interruption measurements on circuits under power.
  • When performing measurements on TV sets or circuits with high AC, always remember that there might be high amplitude voltage on the test points, which can damage the multimeter.
  • If the battery symbol appears on the display, the battery must be replaced immediately. Low battery voltage may result in measurement errors, electric shock, or even injury.
  • Keep your fingers away from the connecting sockets during measurements. Do not use the multimeter in the presence of flammable gas, vapours or dust.
  • Before each use, check the unit in order to ensure proper operation (e.g., using a known voltage source).

Waste equipment must be collected and disposed separately from household waste because it may contain components hazardous to the environment or health. Used or waste equipment may be dropped off free of charge at the point of sale, or at any distributor which sells equipment of identical nature and function.

Dispose of the product at a facility specializing in the collection of electronic waste. By doing so, you will protect the environment as well as the health of others and yourself. If you have any questions, contact the local waste management organization. We shall undertake the tasks pertinent to the manufacturer as prescribed in the relevant regulations and shall bear any associated costs arising.

DISPOSING OF ALKALINE AND RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES • Batteries, whether alkaline or rechargeable, must not be handled together with regular household waste. It is the legal obligation of the product’s user to dispose of batteries at a nearby collection center or at a retail shop. This ensures that the batteries are ultimately neutralized in an environment-friendly way.
