  7. DO NOT power the appliance using multiple sockets. If possible, avoid the use of adapters and/or extension cables; if their use is absolutely necessary, use only materials in compliance with the current safety regulations and according to the electrical parameters of the adapters.

  8. The appliance must NOT be switched on using external timers and/or other remote control appliances, which are not specified in this manual.

  9. Only use original components & accessories (e.g. Ceramic Pot, Ceramic Lid, etc.) provided by the manufacturer. Any non-original component or accessory NOT recommended by the manufacturer (including, but not limited to, Ceramic Pots, Ceramic Lids, etc. made by other manufacturers or by the same manufacturer but for other models of the same capacity or otherwise) may cause injuries to persons or damage to the appliance.

  10. The packing materials (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, etc.) must be kept out of the reach of children or disabled persons since they represent potential sources of danger.
    Location

  11. This appliance is NOT suitable to be used or stored near heat sources (open flame, ovens, heaters, stoves, etc.) and/or in an explosive environment (in the presence of flammable substances such as gas, vapour, mist or dust, in atmospheric conditions when, after ignition, the combustion is spread in the air). Items containing these substances should never be placed in the appliance, and never be used to clean the appliance in order to avert the risk of fire or explosion.

  12. The appliance should NOT be placed on a surface, or in the vicinity of objects, which can be damaged by heat such as carpets or plastics. DO NOT locate multiple portable socket outlets or power supplies at the bottom or rear of the appliance. During operation, as heat is transferred away from the appliance, the surface that the appliance is placed upon as well the surface immediately above or adjacent to it may become very hot. There should be at least 10 cm of free space from the back, left & right sides and at least 20 cm from the top to allow adequate air circulation. Never put things on top of the Ceramic Lid. Never use the appliance near curtains or textiles. If the appliance is operated on wooden furniture, use a protective pad to prevent damage to delicate finishes.

  13. Avoid placing the power cable on abrasive or sharp surfaces or in positions where it can be damaged easily. DO NOT pull the power cable, tug it or use it to drag the appliance to which is connected. The cable must NOT be placed under carpets, or covered with throw rugs, runners or similar. Arrange the cable away from the high traffic area, and where it will NOT be tripped over.

  18. “Seasoning” the Ceramic Pot.
    Place and use the appliance on a flat, horizontal, stable and heat-resistant surface. Holding the Lid Handle, remove the Ceramic Lid and add rice & water (subsequently, you can add any other food ingredient) to reach about 80%(max 90%) the height of the Ceramic Pot & replace the lid. Wipe the exterior of the pot dry and place the pot inside the body of the appliance. Plug the power cable into the electric mains and switch it on. Turn the ‘ON/OFF’ Rotary Knob on the Control Panel from ‘OFF’ to ‘HIGH’ (subsequently, you can choose between ‘LOW’, ‘HIGH’ or ‘AUTO’). When the rice & water has become porridge (subsequently other food ingredients), or should there be a need to stop the appliance from heating, simply turn the ‘ON/OFF’ switch on the appliance from ‘HIGH’ (subsequently ‘LOW’, ‘HIGH’ or ‘AUTO’) to ‘OFF’. The Power Indicator light will turn off, and the heating will cease. Turn off the main switch and unplug the power cable from the electric mains before removing the Ceramic Lid from the Ceramic Pot. Be aware that in some instances the appliance would emit a smoky odor after heating, which is caused by the evaporation of insulator materials and insulating oil of heating components. The odor will disappear after 1-2 times of use

  19. Always wear protective, insulated oven gloves when inserting or removing items from the hot appliance.

  20. Make sure to remove any label or protective sheet which may prevent its proper functioning.

  • LOW’, ‘HIGH’ or ‘AUTO’ to ‘OFF’, switch off the appliance and unplug the power cable from the electric mains. Remove the pot from the appliance but DO NOT add water to the pot as it might crack! Allow the pot to cool naturally;

  • heat the Ceramic Pot by any other means, e.g. heating directly on a gas stove, as the pot can be cracked as a result;

  •  subject the Ceramic Pot or Ceramic Lid to sudden and rapid gain or loss of heat,

  • DO NOT place the pot / lid into hot /cold water, or very hot pot / lid into cold water suddenly. The large differences in temperature may cause the pot or lid to develop cracks due to forces of expansion & contraction, and such damage will NOT be covered by the warranty;

  • turn the ON/OFF Rotary Knob hard so as to avoid any damage;

  • use the appliance near curtains or textiles;

  • leave the appliance unsupervised during operation.

  • 16. During (and immediately after) the period of operation, high temperature steam may escape from the container. To avoid scalding:
    DO NOT

    • fill water below 50% & beyond 80% of the maximum volume of the Ceramic Pot;
    • allow all of the water to be boiled away in order to prolong the life of the appliance;
    • use the appliance without any food item in the Ceramic Pot;
    • remove the Ceramic Lid while heating & ensure that the lid is tightly closed during heating;
    • add food with its packaging (plastic wrapper, paper, foil, metal can, etc.) still attached without first removing the packaging;
    • place any container inside the appliance;
    • move the appliance whilst the appliance is in operation;
    • remove the pot during heating. Wait until heating has completed, the power turned off, then unplug the power cable from the electric mains and remove the pot by lifting its rim carefully;
    • touch any part of the appliance, except the Handle or ‘ON/OFF’ Rotary Knob when the appliance is hot and always wear protective, insulated oven gloves when inserting or removing items from the hot appliance. The bottom of the cooker becomes exceedingly hot as the cooker operates;
    • direct steam at any person or animal & one’s hands and face should be angled away from the rim of the Ceramic Lid at all times.

  • DO NOT soak the appliance in water or other liquids, wash it under the tap, or let any liquid flow into the internal casing of the appliance to prevent electric shock. In case of accidental fall in water, DO NOT try to take it out, but immediately switch the socket switch OFF and detach the 3-pin plug from the socket on the wall (holding it firmly with dry hands).

  • Switch the appliance off, switch the socket switch OFF and unplug the plug if it is NOT used for a long period and before storing, cleaning or performing any maintenance operation.

  • In case of malfunction or anomaly during the functioning, switch the appliance off, switch the socket switch OFF, unplug the plug and check the cause of the anomaly, if possible, with the support of a qualified person.

  3. It is very important that the exterior of the Ceramic Pot is wiped dry before being placed (with Ceramic Lid on top) inside the body of the appliance. If the sides or bottom of the Ceramic Pot is wet, when water comes into contact with the Heating Plate, besides noises emanating from the appliance, it might lead to electrical malfunctions in the appliance. It might also cause cracks to develop on and in the Ceramic Pot over time.
  4. Place the Ceramic Pot (with Ceramic Lid on top) inside the body of the appliance, and ensure that contact between the bottom of the pot and the Heating Plate is evenly distributed by rotating the pot from side to side.
  5. Plug the power cable into the electric mains and switch it on.
