PowerPac PPFZ230 230L Upright Freezer
Product Information
The PPFZ230 is a freezer with a model number of PPFZ230. It has a capacity of 275 litres and uses a 40-watt power supply. The freezer comes with a handle, door, cabinet, temperature control panel, and caster. The caster allows for easy mobility of the freezer. The door seals ensure that the freezer is sealed tightly to keep the contents of the freezer frozen.
Product Usage Instructions
Before using the PPFZ230 freezer, read the instruction manual carefully and keep it for future reference. Follow these basic precautions when using the freezer:
- Read all instructions before using the appliance.

ATTENTION :
Read this booklet carefully as it contains important instructions for a safe
installation, use and maintenance.
Important instructions to be kept for future reference.
The following basic precautions should always be followed when using
electrical appliances:

Read all instructions before using the appliance.

This appliance must be used only for the purpose it was expressly designed; any use NOT complying with the instructions contained in the manual is considered inappropriate and dangerous.
-
The manufacturer is NOT responsible for possible damages caused by the inappropriate and/or unreasonable use.
-
This appliance is NOT suitable to be used or stored near heat sources (open flame, ovens, heaters, stoves, etc.) and/or in an explosive environment (in the presence of flammable substances such as gas, vapour, mist or dust, in atmospheric conditions when, after ignition, the combustion is spread in the air). Items containing these substances should never be placed in the appliance, and never be used to clean the appliance in order to avert the risk of fire or explosion.

The packing materials (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, etc.) must be kept out of the reach of children or disabled persons since they represent potential sources of danger.

The installation/assembly of the appliance will be made in accordance with the indications of the manufacturer. A wrong procedure may cause damages to persons, animals or objects, for which the manufacturer cannot be considered responsible. During transportation of this appliance, it should NOT be subjected to an inclination of greater than 45 to the horizontal, so as to prevent damage to the compressor and refrigeration system of the appliance.

Place and use the appliance on a horizontal, stable and heat-resistant surface.
-
The appliance shall NOT be placed on a surface, or in the vicinity of, objects which can be damaged by heat such as wood, carpets or plastics. There should be at least 50 cm of free space from the back, 20 cm from the left & right sides and 30 cm from the top of the door to allow adequate air circulation to cool the compressor. During operation, as heat is transferred away from the appliance, the surface that the appliance is placed upon may become very hot. If the appliance is operated on wooden furniture, use a protective pad to prevent damage to delicate finishes.

Never put things on top of the appliance.
-
DO NOT touch the outside and bottom of the appliance while it is operating to prevent scalding. The bottom of the appliance becomes hot as the appliance operates.

Before use, check the integrity of the appliance and power cable. In case you are not sure, contact a qualified person. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a qualified technician in order to avoid a shock hazard.

Before powering the appliance make sure the rating (voltage and frequency) corresponding to the grid and the socket is suitable for the plug of the appliance, and that the wall socket is properly grounded.
-
DO NOT power the appliance using multiple sockets. If possible, avoid the use of adapters and/or extension cables; if their use is absolutely necessary, use only materials in compliance with the current safety regulations and according to the electrical parameters of the adapters.

The appliance must NOT be switched on using external timers and/or other remote control appliances which are not specified in this manual.
-
Only use original components & accessories provided by the manufacturer. Any non-original components & accessories NOT recommended by the manufacturer may cause injuries to persons or damage to the appliance.

If you are using the appliance for the first time, you should:
-
Clean the inside of the appliance with water & detergent with a non-abrasive sponge.
DO NOT use metal scouring pads. -
Ensure that the appliance is completely dry before use and standing at an upright
position for at least an hour before switching on the appliance. -
Upon switching on the appliance for the first time, turn the Temperature Control Dial to between 3~4. After half an hour, the temperature inside the appliance should already be cool, and gradually getting colder.

Check that the Indicator Light, Compressor and Ventilation Fan are all working smoothly. Let the Compressor operate for a period of at least 2 – 3 hours.

Always wear protective, insulated gloves when inserting or removing frozen items from the appliance, especially if contact with the frozen items is prolonged. DO NOT dismiss this warning as frostbite can occur, even in tropical climates, which if NOT treated in time, can turn gangrenous, and may require amputation of the limb or worse.

f. The Freezer Door is heavy; please hold the Freezer Door Handle until the Freezer
Door is completely shut again. DO NOT let the Freezer Door slam shut by itself. g. Switch off the appliance and unplug the socket from the electric mains during cleaning or performing any maintenance operation. Make sure at least 5 minutes have elapsed before switching the appliance back on in order to protect the compressor and the refrigeration system.
Make sure to remove any label or protective sheet which may prevent its proper functioning.
DO NOT: -
cover the appliance during functioning;

obstruct totally nor partially the air vents;

insert objects or body parts inside the protection cover of the appliance;
-
turn the Temperature Control Dial from 5 to 1;
-
use sharp objects to scrape ice or frost from the interior surfaces when defrosting; put oversized foods or large amounts of food into the appliance at the same time; store containers
-
made of glass or canned items in the appliance;
-
store medicine or medical products in the appliance;
-
use any electrical appliances inside the Freezer;
-
use any mechanical devices such as fans, hair dryers, heaters, radiators, etc. to accelerate the defrosting process;
-
move the appliance by the door handle.

Plug and unplug the power cable and hold it firmly with dry hands. Always unplug the power cable to avoid overheating and avoid stretching it (DO NOT pull it, tug it or use it to drag the appliance to which is connected). Before unplugging the appliance, switch it off, using the proper command on the control panel, followed by switching off the electric mains.
-
Keep the cable away from heated surfaces, abrasive or sharp surfaces or in positions where it can be damaged easily. Avoid placing the power cable on abrasive or sharp surfaces or in positions where it can be damaged easily. The cable must NOT be placed under carpets, or covered with throw rugs, runners or similar. Arrange the cable away from the high traffic area, and where it will NOT be tripped over.

During operation, DO NOT touch the appliance with wet body parts, and it is recommended to have between you and the standing surface, an isolating element (for example, wearing shoes with rubber soles).

DO NOT soak the appliance in water or other liquids, wash it under the tap, or let any liquid flow into the internal casing of the appliance to prevent electric shock.

Avoid carrying out operations which are NOT specified in this manual (such as disassembling and/or altering).
-
In case of malfunction or anomaly during the functioning, switch off the appliance immediately, turn off the power and check the cause of the anomaly, if possible, with the support of a qualified person.

If smoke is observed coming out of the appliance, unplug the power cable immediately.
-
This appliance is NOT intended for commercial use but to be used in households and similar applications, such as:
- Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
- Dormitories;
- By clients in hotels, motels and other residential environments;
- Bed and breakfast type environments.

DO NOT use or store the appliance outdoors. Store and use the appliance only indoors, or in any case, protected from weathering such as rain, direct radiation of the sun and dust.

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall NOT play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall NOT be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cable out of reach of children less than 8 years old.

HOW TO USE
-
Plug the power cable to the electric mains and switch it ON.
-
Upon switching on the appliance for the first time, turn the Temperature Control Dial to between 3~4. After half an hour, the temperature inside the appliance should already be cool, and gradually getting colder.
(note: the larger the number, the lower the thermostat and the colder the temperature. The default temperature is 3~4.) -
Check that the Indicator Light, Compressor and Ventilation Fan are all working smoothly. Let the Compressor operate for a period of at least 2 – 3 hours.

When food needs to be quickly frozen, turn the Temperature Control Dial to 5. When the food has frozen, turn back the Temperature Control Dial to between 3~
-
DO NOT turn the Temperature Control Dial from 5 to 1.
-
Avoid putting large amounts of food into the appliance at the same time.
-
Warm food should be allowed to cool down to room temperature before placing them into the freezer.
-
Avoid storing medicine or medical products in the appliance;
-
Make sure that there is ample space around each package of food item in order to ensure adequate circulation of cold air.
-
It is advisable to place each food item in a separate bag or container to avoid mixing of fluids prior to freezing.
-
Avoid storing containers made of glass or canned items, as they may break or explode upon freezing.
-
DO NOT use any electrical appliances inside the Freezer.
HOW TO CLEAN
-
Turn the Temperature Control Dial to 1, switch off the appliance and unplug the socket from the electric mains before cleaning or conducting maintenance. Open the Freezer Door.
-
Wait until the interior of the appliance has completely warmed up, and the compressor cooled down, before cleaning or performing any maintenance operation.
-
DO NOT use sharp objects to scrape the ice or frost from the interior surfaces when defrosting. After defrosting, clean the interior of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth. If necessary, you can use a cloth moistened with mild liquid detergent.
-
DO NOT use abrasive scouring pads or powders.
DO NOT use any mechanical devices such as fans, hair dryers, heaters, radiators, etc. to accelerate the defrosting process -
Wipe the exterior of the appliance using a soft, damp cloth or sponge. Remove stubborn spots with a cloth moistened with mild liquid detergent. DO NOT use abrasive scouring pads or powders.

DO NOT soak the appliance in water or other liquids, wash it under the tap, or let any liquid flow into the internal casing of the appliance to prevent electric shock

After cleaning, dry every surface using a soft cloth before restarting the appliance.

Remove dust and grime from the Condenser to keep it in good working order.

Rubbing some talcum powder on the gasket of the Freezer Door may help prolong its life.
PROBLEM SOLVING
The appliance does not work| Insert the plug into the grounded power socket
and switch it on.

The circuit breaker tripped.
Check the household circuit breaker for any tripped wires or that the fuse in the 3-poin bplug is NOT blown. Call for a qualified electrician.
The Temperature Control Dial was set at too high a temperature.
Set the Temperature Control Dial to between 3~4.
The freezer is not cold enough| Set the Temperature Control Dial to between 3~4.
External environment may require a colder temperature setting below 4.
The Freezer Door was not closed properly or was opened too often.
The Freezer Door gasket does not seal properly. Send to the authorized repair centre.
The appliance was not placed with adequate clearances around it. There should be 50 cm of free space from the back, 20 cm from the left & right sides and 30 cm from the top of the door to allow adequate air circulation to cool the compressor.
The Compressor turns on & off frequently| External environment is at a hotter temperature than normal. A large amount of food has been added into the freezer.
The Freezer Door was not closed properly or was opened too often or for too long.
The Freezer Door gasket does not seal properly. Send to the authorized repair centre.
The appliance was not placed with adequate clearances around it. There should be 50 cm of free space from the back, 20 cm from the left & right sides and 30 cm from the top of the
door to allow adequate air circulation to cool the compressor.
The appliance vibrates excessively| The appliance may not be level. Check
whether the appliance is placed on a horizontal and stable surface.
The appliance makes a lot of loud noises| The rattling and gurgling sounds may
have come from the flow of refrigerant inside the appliance. This is normal.
Contraction of the interior freezer walls may result is poppoing or crackling noise.
The appliance may not be level. Check whether the appliance is placed on a horizontal and stable surface.
The Freezer Door will not close properly.| The appliance may not be level. Check whether the appliance is placed on a horizontal and stable surface.
The Freezer Door gasket is dirty or worn out. Clean the Freezer Door gasket or replace the Door Freezer Door gasket at the
authorized repair centre.

The interior of the freezer emits a nasty odour| Foods with strong odours were
not tightly wrapped within impermeable wrappers.
Water pooling at the bottom of the freezer| Unblock the drain at the bottom of
the freezer.
Ice crystals are found on the back panel inside the freezer or on the food
items themselves| Set the Temperature Control Dial to between 1~3.
Place stored food items away from the back panel of the freezer.
ENVIRONMENTAL TIP
This appliance, along with all other electronic appliances, should, when it is no longer capable of functioning, be disposed with the least possible environmental damage according to the local regulations in your area. In most cases you can discard the appliance at your local recycling center.
DISPOSAL: Do not dispose this appliance as unsorted municipal waste. Collection of such waste separately for special treatment is necessary.
Risk of child or animal entrapment
Before you discard this appliance, please remove all doors and leave the
shelves inside so that children or animals may not easily get trapped inside.
WARRANTY
The manufacturer provides warranty of 2 years, in accordance with the
legislation of the customer’s own country of residence, starting from the date
on which the appliance is sold to the end user. The warranty on the Compressor
is 10 years, subject to the same conditions as above.
The warranty covers defects in material and workmanship.
The repairs under warranty may only be carried out by an authorised service
centre. When making a claim under the warranty, the original bill of purchase
(with purchase date clearly indicated) must be submitted.
The warranty will not apply in cases of:
- normal wear and tear
- if the steps (as laid out in the section regarding Warnings) have not been observed e.g. overloading of the appliance, use of non-approved accessories
- if the appliance has not been properly maintained, if force has been used against it or if it has been damaged in any other way
- damage caused by non-observance of the user manual or non-compliance with the installation instructions
- errors or faults owing to defects in the distribution system
- if the appliance has been repaired or modified or changed in any way or by any person not properly authorised
