Instructions for use
Calmita – Hospital feeding solution to support and protect breastfeeding
Intended use
In combination with a Medela disposable hospital bottle, Calmita is intended to be used for oral feeding of human milk, fortified human milk or formula to preterm and term infants when breastfeeding is not possible. Calmita allows infants to apply their natural feeding behaviour (sucking and swallowing, breathing and pausing), thereby supporting and protecting breastfeeding.

WARNING!
- Always use this product under medical supervision.
- This is a single use product not intended to be reprocessed. Reprocessing could cause loss of mechanical, chemical and/or biological characteristics. Reuse could cause cross contamination.
- Single use is defined as one particular feeding session.
- Do not use when package is opened or damaged prior to first use.
- Do not leave Calmita in direct sunlight or heat.
- Inspect before use. Throw away at the first signs of damage or weakness.
- Only touch locking ring of teat in order to avoid contamination.
- Never use feeding teats as a soother.
- Continuous and prolonged sucking of fluids can cause tooth decay.
- Always check the temperature of food before feeding it to your baby (risk of burning).
- Do not warm milk in a microwave oven as this may cause uneven heating and could scald your baby.
- Use Medela original accessories only to ensure proper function.

How to use
- Open packaging.
- l Screw Calmita to the bottle with reasonable torque to ensure proper function.
- l Start feeding session.
Note : Use packaging as hygienic protection to cover Calmita when not actively feeding
Product types
There are two types of Calmita available to support and protect breastfeeding when direct breastfeeding is not possible:
- Calmita Starter (white)
- l Low vacuum level to release content
- l Suitable for preterm infants in transition from enteral to oral feeding, late preterm infants and term infants with a weak suck
- Calmita Advanced (yellow)
- l Moderate vacuum level to release content (similar to Calma for home use)
- l Suitable for preterm, late preterm and healthy term infants who are able to create the required vacuum level
- Calmita can be used with the following fluids:
- l Human milk
- l Fortified human milk
- l Liquid formula
- l Well-dissolved powdered formula
Cleaning and hygiene
Calmita is available in sterile as well as Ready-to-Use condition. In both cases it is hygienically safe to be used without prior cleaning. The sterile Calmita bears the symbol on its packaging while the Ready-to-Use Calmita packaging displays the symbols and *. To distinguish between the sterile and the Ready-to-Use Calmita, check the product label carefully and use accordingly. Please note that some items are not available in all countries.
A new Calmita is required for each feeding session.
Disposal: According to local regulations
Material : Polypropylene (hard part), thermoplastic elastomer (soft part)
- The product is sterilised with ethylene oxide
- This product is hygienically safe to use without prior cleaning.
- This product is not sterile
- The packaging contains products intended to come in contact with food according regulation 1935/2004
- . Do not use if package is damaged.
- Keep the device away from sunlight
