BICYCLE HOLDER, ROOF-MOUNTED

VOLVO Bicycle Holder Roof Mounted fig 1Introduction

  • Regularly check that the bicycle holder is secured on the load carriers and that the bicycle’s securing devices are properly tightened.
  • Always keep the tensioner arms locked during transportation.
  • Note that wind noise can occur when the bicycle holder is installed.
  • Be aware that the height and driving characteristics of the car can be affected when the bicycle holder is installed.
  • Before travelling make sure that the bicycle holder is securely locked and that the key has been removed.
  • Speed should be adjusted according to the load being transported and according to the applicable speed regulations, though not more than 130 km/h.
  • Remove the bicycle holder and roof load carriers when not in use. This reduces air resistance and therefore also fuel consumption and wind noise.
  • Position the load carriers so that there is no risk of the tailgate catching the bicycle holder when it is opened.

  • Thread the longer T-screws (61 mm) into the front brackets and tighten the tensioner arm a few turns.

  • Adjust the position of the rear mounting so that it fits the distance between the load carriers.

  • Tighten the tensioner arms.

  • Turn the key in the lock on the front tensioner arm.

  • Lift the bicycle holder onto the roof and align the mounting screws in the load carrier T-track.

  • Fold-down the tensioner arms.

  • If the tension feels slack: tighten the tensioner arms further.

  • If tensioning is very stiff: slacken off the tensioner arms slightly.

Installing on square section and aluminum rails

NOTE
An adapter kit that is sold separately is required for installing on square and aluminum rails.

  • Thread the shorter mounting screw (64.5 mm) through the front hole of the bicycle holder’s rear bracket and tighten the tensioner arm a few turns.

  • Thread the longer mounting screws (92 mm) into the front brackets and tighten the tensioner arms a few turns.

  • Hook the two brackets into place in the front bracket.

  • Hook the third bracket into the rear bracket.

  • Adjust the position of the rear mounting so that it fits the distance between the load carriers.
