BM LM422 Wheel Loader
5 LOADERS FROM 0.7 TO 3.3 cu. yd.
The BM:VOLVO range of loaders has been progressively developed to meet
changing requirements and now comprises five machines: LM 422, LM 218, LM 620,
LM 640 and LM 840. The LM 640 and LM 840 feature 4-wheel drive.
This range of models simplifies the choice of the right machine for the job.
While each model has its special field of application, all share with the
well-established LM 218 a high degree of versatility. They can all be equipped
with a wide variety of attachments in the BM-VOLVO series and as a result each
machine covers a wider range of jobs than any other make of comparable price
and size. The careful selection of sizes for front and rear wheels has given a
very tight turning circle in every case, which further enhances the output of
the machines. The unusually large driving wheels also confer very good off-
the-road performance and maneouvring under difficult ground conditions.
BM.VOLVO LM 422
A nimble lightweight with a remarkably small turning circle — best performer in tight spots
The LM 422 is the smallest of the BM-VOLVO loaders. The LM 422 is powered by a lively 47-h.p. direct-injection diesel engine through a smooth-changing gearbox offering 6 speeds in both forward and reverse. The small turning radius — 13 ft. 8 in. — makes for easy driving and improved output in confined spaces, such as on building sites, factory yards, docks, busy streets, etc. The implement attachment is to BM-VOLVO standards allowing full selection of equipment and thereby a wide range of jobs. The cab is typical of BM-VOLVO loaders: built for safety and comfort, with very good visibility and all controls in handy reach.

BM.VOLVO LM 218
The popular low-cost middleweight jack of all trades and master of most
****Whatever the job, the LM 218 can do it well. The entire BM:-VOLVO range of
loaders stems from practical experience gained with this machine, and the
conclusions drawn there from. Hydraulics, weight distribution and mechanical
features combine to make the LM 218 a highly versatile worker.
On the basis of long experience with the LM 218 BM-VOLVO has produced other
machines with heavier chassis and more powerful engines for application where
load requirements and cost factors justify larger investments.

BM .VOLVO LM 620
Featuring hydraulic transmission for fast, untiring performance The LM 620
features hydraulic transmission, comprising a torque converter and a
hydraulically operated gearbox. The torque converter automatically increases
engine torque as resistance rises and therefore gives high penetrating force
in hard materials, filling the scoop to capacity with a maximum of effort. The
full utilization of the power potential of the LM 620 results in a very low
cost per unit of output.

BM.VOLVO LM 640
A 4-wheel drive loader for difficult ground conditions
The LM 640 has the same hydraulic transmission as the
LM 620 and, moreover, 4-wheel drive and larger tyres. The LM 640 is therefore
an extremely reliable worker where ground conditions are difficult. Despite
4-wheel drive, the turning circle remains small, as on all BM-VOLVO loaders.
The LM 640 embodies determination — and ability — to get the job done.

BM.VOLVO LM 840
The loader for the big jobs 
The LM 840 is designed for the big jobs: the same hydraulic
transmission and 4-wheel drive system as the LM 640, but even greater power
resources. Long reach, high lift, a tight turning circle and a wide range of
transmission ratios permit the machine’s potential to be realized to the full.
Workcycles are shortened and therefore output per unit time is raised, thanks
to speediness (resulting from high power-to weight ratio), small turning
circle and powerful penetration of hard materials.

The BM-VOLVO implement attachment
system permits the use of a very wide range of standard attachments. Because
attachments can be changed so speedily, machines can be properly equipped for
each job without unnecessary loss of time. The profitability of
a loader is greatly dependent on the use of the right tool for the job and the
line of scoops has therefore been greatly extended.
A scoop should be chosen to achieve maximum filling in the material concerned.
A loader fitted with an excessively large scoop will achieve poorer filling
due to poor penetration, with less capacity as the end result.
It is therefore very important that the right scoop is used in each set of
circumstances — no problem, since the speed coupling make attachment changing
the work of a minute.
Other attachment include e. g. forks, agricultural implements, dozer blades,
crane jibs and snow clearance gear.
