Charging the smartwatch

The Fontastic® fitness watch is equipped with a rechargeable battery. Charge the watch before using it for the first time. Press on the back of the charging unit so that it opens. Align the charger with the charging connection on the watch and make sure that the pins of the charger unit and the pins of the fitness watch are in contact. The charging unit can be connected to any USB-A charger or to the USBA port of a computer (5V DC min. 300 mA). A battery symbol will appear on the display ­ the battery is charging. The charging time is approx. 3 hours depending on the current state of charge. The display will indicate when the battery is fully charged.

FontaFit max App

The smartphone can be connected to the watch and settings as well as activity data are synchronized with the watch via the accompanying “FontaFit max” app. The app is also responsible for reading messages (e.g., WhatsApp, calls, text messages) from the smartphone and forwarding them to the watch.

Switching on/off

Switch on: To switch on the smartwatch, press and hold the upper side button for approx. 3-5 seconds.
Switch off: To switch off the smartwatch, press and hold the upper side button for approx. 3-5 seconds.

Connecting and using the app

Your Fontastic® Smartwatch Explore must be connected to your smartphone via the “FontaFit max” app. Do not connect the fitness watch and your smartphone directly via your smartphone’s Bluetooth® function.

1. Activate Bluetooth® on your smartphone and switch on the smartwatch. When the smartwatch starts up for the first time you will be asked to select the language, which you do by swiping and tapping.
2. Start the “FontaFit max” app, read and accept the privacy policy and enter your data such as name, gender, date of birth etc.

3. To enable notifications and music tracks on Android smartphones to be sent to the Smartwatch, allow the “Notification access” to the FontaFit max app by tapping OK, activating the switch for “FontaFit max” and confirming with “Allow”.

4. In the “Settings” area, select the “Add device” area.

5. If the app asks for permissions, please accept them so that the Smartwatch can be found and select the watch from the list.

6. Confirm the connection on the Smartwatch to establish the connection.

7. Telephone functions with the smartwatch require an additional link to the smartphone. There are multiple options to link the watch for the telephone functions:

• Add “Explore” as a new device in your smartphone’s Bluetooth® settings.

• Open the Bluetooth® menu on the watch, click on “Search new device” and select the name of the smartphone you want to connect to.
  

• After adding the watch in the “FontaFit max” app, as soon as a notification regarding the pairing of the watch appears, click on “Pair & Connect” (only on Android Smartphones).

Note: Telephone functions reduce the battery life of the watch. You can turn these on or off at any time on the watch via the control center (symbol ).
Note: All data entered in the app will be automatically synchronized with the watch.
Note: Only one watch can be connected via the app. The simultaneous use of multiple watches via a single smartphone is not supported.
Note: To save energy (battery life of the smartphone/watch) the app does not continuously synchronize with the watch. To force synchronization, drag down from top to bottom once on the app’s main display.
Note: The time and date will be automatically transferred to the watch from the connected smartphone. These can also be set manually on the smartwatch

Background use of the app

To ensure that the watch remains connected to the app to receive notifications and synchronise movement data, among other things, we recommend that you exclude the app from battery optimisation via the system settings of the smartphone or that you do not restrict the background use of the app. Otherwise, the connection to the watch may be disconnected as soon as the smartphone is in standby.

For Android smartphones

1. Press and hold the icon of the “FontaFit max” app in the menu of your smartphone and select “App details”.

2. Tap on “Advanced” and “Battery”.

3. Make sure that the options “Restrict background usage” and “Battery optimisation” are not active, otherwise switch them off.

For iOS smartphones

1. Open the “Settings” app on your smartphone and select “FontaFit max”.
2. Make sure that the “background update” is active, otherwise switch it on.

Basic operation of the smartwatch

• Activate/deactivate the display by pressing the upper side button.
• You can open menu items by swiping from right to left and tapping the item.
• Swipe from left to right to enter the sports mode.
• Swipe from bottom to top to access the main functions of the watch.
• Swipe from top to bottom to reach the control centre.
• To return from menus/apps, press the upper side button or swipe from left to right.

Control centre

In the control centre, you can access the most important settings of the Smartwatch by swiping down from the watch face. You can reach the second page of the control centre by swiping to the left.

Changing the Watch face

To change the current watch face, press and hold the watch face on the Smartwatch until the selection opens up. Swipe left and right to change and confirm with “OK”. Further watch faces and settings are available in the app.

Pedometer
In the Pedometer menu, you will find the steps you have taken and the calories burned, kilometres run and pulse information calculated from your data. You can set your daily goal in steps by swiping to the left. Alternatively, you can set this in the app in the “Profile” area under “Goal”.

Sports activities
The smartwatch supports various activities, which can be called up via the menu or directly by pressing the lower side button.

As soon as you have selected an activity and start it, the watch begins to record the training. For outdoor activities, a valid GPS signal is searched for before the start. During the training, the watch shows you various parameters depending on the activity. Press the lower button or swipe up to get more data. Use the upper button to pause or end an activity.

Saved activities are displayed in the “FontaFit max” app and on the watch in the “Achievements” area. In the app you will also find further information, as well as the distance recording for outdoor activities with GPS recording.

Note: Outdoor sports activities record your route via GPS. For optimal GPS performance wear the smartwatch on your wrist with the display facing up.

Note: You should wear your smartwatch on your non-dominant hand to achieve the best results for activity tracking.

Pulse measurement
Pulse measurement can be started by pressing the lower button or via the menu. By swiping to the left, you can view the history, switch the mode between one- time and continuous measurement and call up help for pulse measurement.

Note: You can activate all-day pulse measurement in the app. Please note: Wear the strap approx. 2 cm above your wrist bone and make sure that it fits snugly against your skin. The measurement quality can be influenced, among other things, by the following factors:

• Low blood flow
• Tattoos
• Jerky movements
• The use of creams
• Dirty sensors

Note: With the optoelectrical pulse measurement (photo plethysmography), whereby your blood flow is recorded via green LEDs and photodiodes, the watch also displays values when the watch is too loose or not being worn. For pulse measurement make sure therefore that the strap is seated correctly.

Telephone functions

The smartwatch offers various telephone functions, which you can use after successfully connecting with your smartphone. Conversations and voice commands to assistants can be conducted directly via the watch.

Incoming calls
The Smartwatch shows incoming calls on the display. You can accept or reject them directly via the watch.

Calendar
You can access the calendar by swiping down three times from the watch face. Here you can scroll through the months by swiping to the left and right.

Weather
The watch can show you the current weather and the forecast for the next three days if the watch is connected to your smartphone and location authorisation has been enabled there. You can access the weather from the menu or by swiping upwards four times from the watch face.

Warranty

1. This watch has a 24-month warranty beginning from the date of purchase. The battery is under warranty for 6 months.

2. A warranty claim is void in the following cases:
   a. Unauthorized dismantling/reconstruction, etc.
   b. Damage by external influences.
   c. Defects caused by negligence (such as water damage outside the IP standard, external forces, scratches).

3. If you want to make a warranty claim, you must include proof of purchase showing the date of purchase.

4. Due to product improvement, the actual product may differ slightly from this printed user manual. This is not a defect.
