USE
Intended use
- The auxiliary starter is intended to start cars, boats etc. with 12 V batteries.
- The auxiliary starter has two 12 V outlets, with 15 A over current protection, which can be used to power most appliances intended to be connected to a 12 V outlet (max 15 A).
- The built-in battery in the auxiliary starter is charged with an external charger, which is connected to the charger port on the auxiliary starter. The auxiliary starter has a built-in overcharge protection.
- USB port with 5 V DC, 21 A, output voltage to charge mobile phone or equivalent.
- The built-in compressor can be used to pump car tyres, bike tyres and footballs, etc.
Status lights
Press in and release the button USB/ battery check. The status lights show the battery charge. Press in and release the button again after checking, to avoid charging the battery unnecessarily.
-
The green status light flashes and an alarm signal is given:
– Too high internal battery voltage. Check if the auxiliary starter is not charging properly. -
The green status light flashes:
– The auxiliary starter is charged and ready to use. -
The yellow status light goes on:
– The auxiliary starter battery needs charging. -
The red status light goes on:
– The auxiliary starter battery needs charging as soon as possible. -
The red status light flashes and an alarm signal is given:
– Too low internal battery voltage. The auxiliary starter has never been used and needs charging. -
The red status light flashes, an alarm signal is given, and auxiliary starter switches off automatically:
– Too low internal battery voltage. The auxiliary starter has never been used and needs charging.
Charging the auxiliary starter battery
- Connect the charger to a power point.
- Plug in the charger. The three status lights flash in turn to show that the built-in battery is being charged.
- It takes 6-40 hours to fully charge the built-in battery, depending on the condition of the battery.
- When the battery is fully charged the green status light goes on.
- Allow charging to continue if possible, to prolong battery life.
- Disconnect the charger.
- We recommend keeping the battery fully charged for best results and lifespan. The battery capacity and lifespan will be adversely affected if it is left discharged for a long time.
NOTE:
- Only use the supplied charger. Other chargers can reduce the lifespan of the battery, or cause it to explode and cause personal injury or material damage.
- Charge the built-in battery in the auxiliary starter before using it for the first time.
- Check the charge level in the built-in battery by pressing the battery check button and checking the status lights. If the red status light goes on, charge the battery as soon as possible.
- Charge the built-in battery in the auxiliary starter every three months if not in use.
Outlet 12 V DC
- Open the cover over the outlet.
- Plug in the plug on the appliance.
NOTE:
Max output 200 W. The outlet has overload protection with automatic reset. In an emergency the internal battery in the auxiliary starter can be charged from the 12 V outlet in the vehicle – but cannot be fully charged in this way. Use the AC charger to fully charge.
Auxiliary start function
- Check that the lights and all the other extras in the vehicle are switched off.
- Firmly connect the red positive clamp (+) on the auxiliary starter to the positive terminal (+) on the vehicle battery.
- Connect the black negative clamp (-) to the negative terminal (-) on the battery, or to a metal part on the vehicle. The green status light goes on if there is a good connection.
- Put the power switch in the ON position.
- Turn the ignition key in the vehicle to start. Do not attempt to start for more than 5 seconds.
- If the vehicle does not start wait for at least 3 minutes, and then try again.
- If the engine starts, set the power switch to the OFF position.
- Disconnect the black negative cable (-) and put it out of the way.
- Disconnect the red positive cable (+) and put it out of the way.
- Recharge the built-in battery in the auxiliary starter as soon as possible.
WARNING!
- Check that the vehicle battery is 12 V, or there will be a risk of explosion and/or serious injury.
- Before switching the appliance ON, check that the clamps are connected with the right polarity.
- Follow the instructions, otherwise there is a risk of personal injury and/or material damage.
Using the compressor
- Take out the compressor hose and connect it to an adapter if necessary.
- Connect the compressor hose to the product to be charged.
- Put the compressor switch in the ON position and inflate the product.
- When the product has been inflated to the required pressure as shown on the pressure gauge on the compressor, put the switch in the middle position and remove the hose.
- Recharge the internal battery on the appliance as soon as possible after using the compressor.
NOTE:
Do not run the compressor for more than 10 minutes at a time. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before using it again.
Using the work light
- Press the LAMP button for 3 seconds to switch on the work light. The battery status lights show the battery charge.
- Press in and release the button again to activate the light’s flashing function.
- Press in and release the button again to switch off the work light.
- Recharge the internal battery on the appliance as soon as possible after using the work light.
NOTE:
The work light goes off automatically if the voltage on the internal battery is too low.
Alarm for low voltage
When in use the internal microprocessor automatically detects the voltage on the internal battery. If the battery voltage is too low the red status light flashes and an alarm signal is given to indicate that the battery needs charging. The red status light goes off and the alarm signal stops when not in use, or when the battery voltage is normal again.
MAINTENANCE
- Put all the switches in the OFF position before checking, maintenance and/or cleaning, otherwise there is a risk of electric shock and/or serious personal injury.
- Always check before use that the auxiliary starter is in good condition. Check that all screw unions are tight, that moving parts are correctly adjusted and can move freely, that no parts are incorrectly fitted or defective, that no wires are damaged, and that there are no other factors that could affect functionality.
- Wipe the auxiliary starter with a damp cloth after use.
- Do not expose the auxiliary starter to direct sunlight, rain or moisture.
