McGrey UAD-1000 Universal Adapter
Thank you for purchasing this universal adapter.
To ensure that you are fully satisfied with this item, please read these
operating instructions carefully before using our product. Keep these
operating instructions in a safe place. The operating instructions must be
passed on to all subsequent users.
Purpose
This unit is designed for indoor use. (permitted operating temperature 0-40°
C)
The power supply unit is intended for the direct current supply of suitable
small devices with an operating voltage of 3.0 to 12.0V and a maximum current
consumption of 1.0A.
Adjustable output voltages: 3.0V; 4.5V; 5.0V; 6.0V; 7.5V; 9.0V; 12.0V.
WARNNIG Above all, familiarise yourself with the voltage issue and the use of the correct polarity, which is described below. If the adapter and its plug are misused or incorrectly connected, damage to all the devices involved may result. No liability and/or warranty can be accepted for such damage. Make sure that the device you want to empower, does not need more than 1.0 A. If it needs more, than the Universal Adapter will be damaged.
SAFETY
WARNNIG
- Do not use this unit near water (e.g. near a bathtub, washbasin, kitchen sink, in a damp basement or near a swimming pool, etc.); protect the unit from high humidity and splashing or dripping water:
- Only clean the adapter and accessories with a dry cloth. Do not use chemicals or cleaning agents
- The unit should not be placed near any heat sources such as radiators, vents or other appliances that produce heat; avoid direct sunlight.
- The unit must not be opened. There is a danger to life from electric shock! In the event of a malfunction or visible damage to the unit or the cables, contact a qualified service technician or the dealer;
- The unit should never be left plugged into a power socket when not in use for a long period of time;
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Do not leave children unattended!
Steps for preparation and use
- First find out the operating voltage (in volts) of the unit to be supplied. This can usually be found on the type plate of the unit or in the vicinity of the power supply socket.
After you have found out the operating voltage, use the small metal key supplied (see illustration below) and set the appropriate voltage on the yellow adjusting wheel on the black power supply unit.
WARNNIG ATTENTION: When using the USB adapter, be sure to set the yellow
wheel to 5.0V.
Otherwise there is a risk of damage to the device that you want to supply with
power via the USB plug.
The scope of delivery of the power supply includes a total of 8 adapter plugs
(5 hollow plugs, 2 jack plugs as well as a USB adapter):
Overview and description of the enclosed adapter plugs
(The specifications in millimetres refer to the plug diameter or, in the case
of hollow plugs, to their inner and outer diameters).
If you are not sure which adapter fits your unit, take a plug out of the rubber holder and carefully try it out to see if it fits into the socket of the unit to be supplied with power. Do not use force to avoid damaging or bending the socket or plug.
WARNING
Make sure that the power supply unit and cable are not yet connected to the
adapter attachment and that the power supply unit is not yet plugged into the
socket. To avoid damage, no current may flow yet.
Once you have found the right plug for your device, it is important to ensure
the correct polarity when connecting the coupling/clutch at the cable end of
the power supply unit and the adapter plug.
When using the USB plug, this is easy. Insert the plug into the coupling so
that + points to + (see: small symbols on the side of the plug and coupling).
With jack or hollow sockets it is a bit more complex, as depending on the
manufacturer different polarities (+ and -) can be assigned to the outer
contact sheath or inner contact in the case of jack inputs, or to the outer
and inner contact in the case of hollow sockets.
There are 2 polarity symbols. The polarity or polarity symbol of the input can
usually be found around the input socket of the unit you want to empower. (If
you do not find this information on the unit, refer to the instruction manual
that came with the unit or contact the manufacturer or dealer from whom you
purchased the unit).
The semicircle with the small dot in the middle is intended to schematically
represent the top view of an input socket.
For a device with so-called negative polarity, it is exactly the other way round than in the example picture above. With a minus polarity, the inner part of the input is assigned with – and the outer sheath with +.
Depending on how you insert the plug into the coupling/clutch, the polarity of
the plug tip will change for jack plugs or the polarity of the inside for
hollow plugs, which you later want to plug into the socket on the device you
want to supply with power.
The + and – symbols can be found on both sides of the individual adapter plug
attachments, as well as on the casing of the coupling/clutch into which you
insert the adapter attachment.
Positive polarity:
If this symbol is required on or next to the input of your device, insert the
adapter plug into the coupling of the universal power supply so that the
polarity of the adapter plug matches the polarity required by the device you
want to supply with power.
Consequently, insert the plug so that + and + are next to each other on one
side. This then ensures a positive polarity of the adapter plug and matches
the symbol shown above (positive polarity).![McGrey UAD 1000 Universal Adapter

Minus polarity:
If this symbol is displayed on or next to the input of the unit, turn the adapter plug around and insert the adapter plug into the coupling of the universal power supply unit so that the polarity of the adapter plug matches the polarity required by the unit you want to supply with power. Here, + and – must then be next to each other on one side. This ensures, that the polarity of the adapter plug is negative and matches the symbol shown above (negative polarity).
This ensures that the polarity of the jack plug or the hollow plug matches the
polarity of the input in the device that you want to supply with power.
WARNING Proceed very accurately and conscientiously here, as incorrect
polarity can cause damage to the devices involved. The manufacturer of the
adapter power supply accepts no liability or guarantee for any damage caused
in this way.
Last step:
- Check whether the set voltage (volts) matches the voltage of the device for which you want to use the adapter! If not, please set the correct voltage first!
- If you have connected the adapter plug and coupling correctly, please insert the mains plug into a socket. The red operating LED lights up. Now switch on the unit to be supplied with power. It should be supplied with power and work.
