clearaudio AC048 Record Cleaning Fluids

Dear Clearaudio customer,
thank you for choosing Clearaudio’s high quality record cleaning fluid. A clean record is the base for optimal vinyl performance.
Clearaudio offers a range of record cleaning machines along with related products to support the care of your record collection.
Pure Groove cleaning fluid is one of our most popular products.
Its powerful cleaning formula guarantees a deep cleansing of your records’ grooves.

In addition, we also offer the following specialized cleaning fluids:

  • Pure Groove essence
  • Groove Care
  • Pure Groove Shellac

All of the above share the following features:

  • Excellent cleaning results
  • Highly efficient – a small amount is sufficient
  • No dyes in the formula
  • No foaming effect
  • Can be used with all Clearaudio record cleaning machines
    Note:
During transport or shaking of the bottle the fluid can generate some foam. Please wait until the foam has set again, before using the fluid.
This user manual gives you valuable information for the correct use.

Choosing the correct fluid

Due to the varying formula of different cleaning fluids, not all fluids are recommend for shellac records or for international shipping (due to varying regulations regarding the export of certain ingredients such as alcohol).
Please see the chart below for guidance on the correct cleaning fluid for your purposes.
If you need any assistance, please contact your local dealer or distributor.

Record

cleaning fluid

| Ready to use| To use for| Allowed for export
---|---|---|---
Pure Groove| Yes| Only Vinyl records| No 1
Pure Groove essence| No 2| Only Vinyl records| Yes
Groove Care| Yes| Only Vinyl records| Yes
Pure Groove Shellac| Yes| For Shellac and Vinyl records| Yes

  1. Can be shipped only as a flammable material with additional costs.
  2. Needs to be mixed with alcohol.

We do not recommend cleaning your shellac records with
Pure Groove products that contain alcohol, as these can damage the sensitive material.
Please only use special liquids that are designed for this purpose (for example Clearaudio Pure Groove Shellac).
For detail information please read the following pages.

Using the fluid with a Clearaudio record cleaning machine

For best results we recommend using Clearaudio Pure Groove products in combination with a Clearaudio record cleaning machine.
All Clearaudio current record cleaning units have an automatic fluid application.
For more information on correct use (e.g. filling the machine) please see the relevant user manual.

Using the fluid without a record cleaning machine

If you are using Clearaudio Pure Groove products without a record cleaning machine, follow the steps below while the record rotates on your turntable.

Apply a small amount of the cleaning fluid on the record and spread it across the surface using a cleaning brush (for example Clearaudio Pure Groove brush Art. No. AC015). Make sure that a continuous film of fluid is spread across the entire playing surface. Avoid spilling fluid on the record label.

Let the record rotate for approximately 30 seconds while holding the cleaning brush gently against the surface so that a small ‘bow-wave’ is created in front of the brush. The movement within the bow-wave will clean deep into the record’s groove.

After cleaning, gently wipe the record with a lint-free cloth to remove as much of the dirty cleaning fluid as possible. Repeat this process to remove more of the soiled fluid, then rinse the record with clean distilled water and place it in a draining rack to dry thoroughly before play.

Before playing the record again, we recommend using an anti-static brush (for example Clearaudio Record Cleaning brush Art. No. AC004) to discharge any static.

Pure Groove

Clearaudio Pure Groove is a powerful cleaning fluid and achieves perfect cleaning results when used with a record cleaning machine.
The alcohol content of the Pure Groove cleaning fluid in combination with a powerful suction dries the remaining liquid on the record without leaving any residue and the record can be played immediately.

Available in:

  • 0.10 litre (Art. No. AC048/010)
  • 0.25 litre (Art. No. AC048/025)

  • 1.00 litre (Art. No. AC048/100)
  • 2.50 litre (Art. No. AC048/250)

Pure Groove essence

The Clearaudio Pure Groove essence is a highly efficient concentrate for record cleaning with excellent cleaning results. Since our regular Pure Groove has to be shipped as a flammable material, Clearaudio has developed Pure Groove essence which has a low alcohol content so it can be easily shipped worldwide.

For the proper use just mix the Pure Groove essence fluid with Ethanol denat. (90%) / Isopropyl alcohol (90%), according to the following mixing ratios given below. The result is the regular Pure Groove fluid.

Mixing ration:
